  1. what's up everybody.
  2. So now we're gonna be diving into growth checks.
  3. So we've taken the diagnostic, we dove into lessons whether
  4. it's my path or teacher lessons now we're kind of
  5. in that in the midst of what do we do
  6. in order to check in with them?
  7. Right. We can we can't look at any growth yet.
  8. The lessons are just telling us per domain or per
  9. topic. So there is a quick way to be able
  10. to check in on growth and measure that and then
  11. plan accordingly.
  12. So we're going to dive into right here.
  13. All right.
  14. So we have a couple of different points that we're
  15. going to talk about.
  16. The first point is going to be, what is it?
  17. Right. What is a growth track about schedules?
  18. What does that look like?
  19. How often should we be giving them uh reporting different
  20. types of reporting using the data for an entire class
  21. but also using the data for individual students.
  22. So let's start here what is a growth chat?
  23. So agro check is going to be a way for
  24. you to see where students are on truck and ideally
  25. you want to do this in between diagnostics right?
  26. You don't want to do it right after a diagnostic.
  27. You don't want to do it too too often.
  28. But for instance here we diagnostic tested in august the
  29. next time we're testing is january.
  30. That is a huge gap.
  31. And even though we've learned about the instructional groupings and
  32. ways you can use that data.
  33. The data from august it's kind of outdated now.
  34. Right we're in october almost at the end of october
  35. we need some new data to run off of and
  36. that's what this is.
  37. However let's not get it confused.
  38. It is also not going to be designed As a
  39. progress monitoring tool for your tier one students.
  40. So for example on your diagnostic, let's say you had
  41. someone who just blew it out of the water every
  42. time you give a growth check and we'll talk about
  43. it. It's not necessarily for everybody because not everybody might
  44. need that.
  45. We'll talk about a little bit more but just keep
  46. in mind if your goal is to gauge whether or
  47. not they're on grade level standards or understanding something at
  48. the whole grade level, that's the diagnostic.
  49. However if the goal is to determine why students may
  50. not understand grade level standards.
  51. Um We will look at standard mastery, this is simply
  52. a check in tool.
  53. Okay? Here we go.
  54. So schedules, let's keep going there.
  55. You have two options, auto or manual.
  56. Now from the Greenbrier piece, I've gone ahead and I've
  57. set up an automated schedule.
  58. Now that's just gonna be for like our overall check
  59. ins okay?
  60. And it's just like the diagnostic, it pops up for
  61. the student whenever they log in I'll show you those
  62. dates but let's just that you have which we do.
  63. We have students that need to be monitored closely.
  64. Um And that might be one every month right?
  65. We need that ongoing data that would be an example
  66. for you to schedule when those students need to take
  67. it outside of the diagnostic testing and these something that
  68. I definitely want to emphasize is you do not want
  69. to give a growth monitor or you'll hear me call
  70. it G.
  71. C. S.
  72. A growth check assessment in the same month as a
  73. diagnostic that's just double dipping data.
  74. Um And it's time consuming.
  75. You also don't want to administer these growth checks.
  76. Um More than once a month.
  77. You can do it every month but just do it
  78. once and then like we said before you also don't
  79. want to use it for everyone unless you're using the
  80. data for everybody.
  81. So for example the people that I've already talked to
  82. it's been a few months since the diagnostics everyone's taking
  83. the growth check because everybody needs that checking to see
  84. okay where we are what's going on.
  85. Um But then the continuous growth monitoring you might not
  86. need that for everybody.
  87. And then as you can see up top in the
  88. green specific students and groups might take a growth check
  89. every so often.
  90. But then everyone would take a diagnostic that sort of
  91. thing. All right so let's dive into reporting at this
  92. point in time.
  93. You should know the purpose of what a growth check
  94. is. It takes about 15 minutes.
  95. Maybe maximum 25 maximum.
  96. They should be able to get it done within the
  97. class period.
  98. So you just reiterate that.
  99. Um And and why we are giving it so just
  100. be aware you're right there.
  101. All right so types of reports I'm gonna walk you
  102. through how to get to the reporting their grocery.
  103. I'm gonna walk you through how to get to these
  104. reports one we're going to click on report to click
  105. on class and growth monitoring.
  106. So your screen should look like this report class and
  107. then you now have two options.
  108. Growth monitoring status or growth monitoring results.
  109. Okay so let's take a look at what a status
  110. give us.
  111. Okay so status is going to give us a status
  112. report. It's going to show you the status of taking
  113. the growth check just like in um The diagnostic.
  114. So looking at this I can see that all of
  115. these students have completed the growth check.
  116. I have 25 daughter in progress but I have 56
  117. that have not started.
  118. So it's really just a status like we said it's
  119. a check to see where we at.
  120. Okay now when we click on growth monitoring results this
  121. little bar graph is going to pop up.
  122. Okay and the bar graph should look familiar.
  123. That's going to be the diagnostic result but there's not
  124. gonna be anything else there and you're gonna freak out
  125. on me like oh my gosh what's going on here
  126. is what's going on you need to click supporting data
  127. which is down here the blue circle when you click
  128. on that platter sign supporting data you will see that
  129. there is a diagnostic and a growth monitoring scale score.
  130. Now standard error.
  131. Your growth monitoring score is going to have a bigger
  132. standard deviation because it's a shorter assessment.
  133. Um So just take it with a grain of salt.
  134. Obviously if it's within the plus or minus of those
  135. points you know that's the range we want to be
  136. in but if we're way beyond those that's something definitely
  137. to notice.
  138. Now these blue arrows that are up here um at
  139. the table those will show up projected growth measures will
  140. show up after they take a second growth check for
  141. the next diagnostic.
  142. They need three sets of data, three sets of data
  143. in any combination of diagnostic or growth checks Before it
  144. projects a growth goal and all that is is at
  145. the beginning of the year with the diagnostic, it gave
  146. you a growth goal right For the students.
  147. It now wants to tell you how on track are
  148. they to make it well they need data in order
  149. to do that and it doesn't come from the lessons
  150. it comes from these little tidbits of assessing.
  151. Okay, last thing creating a plan.
  152. So this is also in reporting and you can use
  153. this to your advantage once a this is an example
  154. because we have not given to growth checks but once
  155. a student takes their first diagnostic I'm looking at um
  156. column BR.
  157. Sorry three.
  158. If I'm looking at the diagnostic and then we have
  159. two more growth monitoring checks.
  160. Now when we look at that bar graph in number
  161. one up here we've got the diagnostic one results.
  162. But it's gonna give us a.
  163. E. O.
  164. I. End of year projected score.
  165. And that's based on how much they're growing or how
  166. they're doing.
  167. This is an excellent tool and this is what I'm
  168. going to be talking to you guys about by december
  169. for january time frame.
  170. When we go into the next diagnostic you want your
  171. students to know a projected goal.
  172. Like wow I've been working really hard.
  173. This is showing me where on that and it's an
  174. idea it's not necessarily concrete because we're not taking the
  175. diagnostic yet.
  176. How great would it be for them to see especially
  177. our baby too.
  178. I have admitted I didn't try my best on the
  179. first diagnostic they are now able to see okay my
  180. hard work is paying off.
  181. I have grown I can do this and move on
  182. from there.
  183. Yeah so again I'm reading from the purple box.
  184. The end of year growth projection only appears after they've
  185. taken to growth checks after the diagnostic or a diagnostic
  186. of growth check and a diagnostic.
  187. So our game plan is to get to growth checks
  188. in before january.
  189. Now things we should not do okay and I'm just
  190. gonna go ahead and put this out there.
  191. Okay these are very very important for us to dive
  192. into um with growth checks.
  193. We should not look into this data as 100% accurate
  194. because there is a standard error and standard deviation because
  195. of how short the assessment is.
  196. We also should not assigned more than one group check
  197. per month and you should also not assign it and
  198. then not look at the data, this should lead a
  199. day to chat.
  200. So we have data chats with diagnostics, you should be
  201. doing some kind of small grouping um and then one
  202. on one talking with those students to show them, you
  203. know where they're at, that motivation piece is going to
  204. happen but you're the keeper of the key, They can't
  205. see the scores on their own, you have to show
  206. it to them and talk to them about it.
  207. Okay, so last things last um using the data for
  208. our class and then for individuals for the class um
  209. we can definitely go in here and you see um
  210. when you're looking at a growth monitoring result for the
  211. class, you're able to break it down for your class
  212. and and really these goals are gonna be helpful or
  213. these reports are going to be helpful after that second
  214. growth check because that data is not going to pop
  215. up unless they have two of them.
  216. Okay. And same thing here for individual students where we
  217. just went over um using your data for individuals, that
  218. bar graph is going to pop up once they have
  219. a second growth check.
  220. So you can pause the video and you know come
  221. back to it after they take that.
  222. Um And then lastly our schedule this is what is
  223. currently scheduled.
  224. Um There is one open for october, I've got one
  225. for november because we have C.
  226. D. A.
  227. S coming up in december, so the november one should
  228. open. Um I might change that for the week after
  229. thanksgiving but then we have one for february March april
  230. and then june just for those that log on during
  231. the summer.
  232. So if you are wanting those dates to move as
  233. a building we can do that or if you want
  234. to give one in between those days you absolutely can
  235. do that.
  236. Just remember the do not in the dues for our
  237. great check and that's it, that's all of your growth
  238. monitoring. There's also amazing um tips on it in your
  239. teacher success God and I'll put those in there as
  240. well and I look forward to helping you out and
  241. diving in with you.
  242. Great job, y'all
