  1. welcome everybody to secondary transfer on this is presentation to
  2. get you ready for September 2000 and 20 first.
  3. The first thing to say is that this is a
  4. seven year journey that we're embarking upon on.
  5. The vast majority of you will work all the way
  6. through and finish at the end of 2000 and 27.
  7. I realize that seems like a very long time away,
  8. but it will go fairly quickly.
  9. I'd like to talk a little bit about the ethos
  10. of the school.
  11. We are a school which has two things to consider
  12. for everybody on the first is that there are no
  13. limits. And secondly, the answer is yes, I can.
  14. And if we have that philosophy on life, then things
  15. will usually work out for the best.
  16. So perhaps you can remember that when you start in
  17. September, the next thing is a little bit about standards
  18. and expectations.
  19. I realize you will have read all of this before,
  20. but attendance is really important in this year at school,
  21. we are able to do our job.
  22. So we do expect everybody to attend every day behavior,
  23. of course, his importance and in school like Sandringham, not
  24. school. We have exceptional behavior on a soon as you
  25. start, you will see how the others behave.
  26. And that's what you It's nothing.
  27. Ask the ordinary.
  28. Be polite walk, don't run.
  29. Talk that shouts.
  30. Hold the doors open, smile on things like that and,
  31. of course, quality.
  32. Whenever you're doing some work.
  33. What we hope happens is that you always do your
  34. very best when sometimes you'll do a bit of work.
  35. And when you re read it, you'll realize that maybe
  36. you could have done slightly better.
  37. And so re doing a bit of work is not
  38. a bad thing.
  39. Our core values are the three arts responsibility, relationships and
  40. respect and we'll be going through with you what those
  41. mean over the seven years that you were at the
  42. school, and we find that these will help all of
  43. this adults as well as students in the school to
  44. get on better.
  45. And, of course, our motto is that everybody can be
  46. somebody on.
  47. We really believe that that would apply to you.
  48. You will be part of a house on.
  49. There are eight houses in the school.
  50. As you can see, the house competition runs throughout the
  51. year and at the end of the year we have
  52. a house day where the house with the most points
  53. he's given a trophy.
  54. This is a really important part of the school because
  55. it allows us to enjoy cells, have a bit of
  56. friendly competition, do some things which maybe would normally do.
  57. So There's how spelling house arithmetic of this house sports
  58. house arts You name it something for everybody.
  59. So allow young people get involved in this.
  60. Ah, nde.
  61. Every bit of work you do potentially can add to
  62. the house points because you get commendations, which we now
  63. call house points.
  64. As you may know, we run.
  65. Bring your own device at the school on.
  66. This is a key aspect off the school.
  67. As you know, we run.
  68. Bring your own device school on.
  69. This is a very important part of how we operate.
  70. So every student has a device.
  71. It's usually a tablet.
  72. Ah, a lot of people have apple my pants, but
  73. they're not the only thing that will work at all
  74. on. Did we use these in every lesson where another
  75. important aspect of the work we do is bring your
  76. own device on.
  77. Every student has a device that they bring in.
  78. It's a tablet device on dhe.
  79. We are used.
  80. Okay. Another food.
  81. About another key aspect of the work of the school
  82. is the bring your own device on every student has
  83. a device that they bring in on.
  84. Staff will use thes during lessons where they think it's
  85. appropriate. Not every lesson will incorporate use of a device,
  86. but you need it there just in case.
  87. And, of course, all of the work is uploaded to
  88. Google Drive so that you can access things in the
  89. evening. You can look in your homework.
  90. You can even submit some work online.
  91. You have a calendar to keep track of what's going
  92. on, so it's a really useful part of your equipment.
  93. So that's bringing around You.
  94. Got Uniform is an important part of all schools in
  95. the United Kingdom.
  96. On sand, William is no different, so we have a
  97. very smart uniform, as you can see there at the
  98. bottom. That's what the boys and the girls were aware
  99. on. Dhe, Then above are just some examples of the
  100. sports uniform.
  101. All of this is detailed in the information that you
  102. sent out to everybody.
  103. Some of it can only be obtained from Stevenson's in
  104. town. Other parts can be bought anywhere, but we do
  105. expect everybody to be in the correct uniform on where
  106. it cried.
  107. That's really important on Dhe, of course, not just last
  108. year in school, but also when you're walking to school,
  109. walking home, always make sure that you wear it correctly.
  110. Communications an important part of any large institution.
  111. And we take pride in trying to communicate as well
  112. as we can with you.
  113. So there's our websites, and this is a new website
  114. this year.
  115. We think it is fit for purpose, covers everything you
  116. might want to know about in school.
  117. But if there's anything missing, dentist letters, no.
  118. And we'll put it in there.
  119. Of course, there's the weekly Sam Prince a tw the
  120. moments, of course, in Lock Down, where it's sending this
  121. out twice weekly to improve communications.
  122. Normally, it goes out on a Friday to everybody on
  123. we celebrate with wonderful work is going on in school
  124. on a Friday there's our regular Twitter feed, and you
  125. may already be following us on Twitter.
  126. If you're not, I would recommend it.
  127. It's where you can get the latest up to date
  128. information about what is going on.
  129. And, of course, there's parent mail, which we send outs,
  130. and you'll receive this when there's something important.
  131. Maybe some documents as well.
  132. The need to come out specifically to the parents now
  133. getting to school.
  134. The vast majority of you live very close to the
  135. school on the reasons for that simple.
  136. We are so popular, and they were subscribed.
  137. Unless you live recently close, then you currently can't get
  138. in. So the vast majority off you will walk into
  139. school, and that's important.
  140. It's healthy, gives you an opportunity to chat in the
  141. morning and talk about the day when you're going home
  142. to be easy.
  143. Some review or cycle something like 25% do cycle to
  144. school. Andi.
  145. If you do that, that's fine.
  146. We have cycle sheds where your story cycle nice and
  147. safely, but you must wear a helmet when you're cycling
  148. on dhe.
  149. Try and make sure that you don't want anybody over
  150. when you're cycling.
  151. That's very important.
  152. Of course, some of you who live in Wheaton students
  153. need to get the coach on these school coaches some.
  154. Therefore, that's how you travel in.
  155. We do expect everybody to be in school by 8
  156. 20 in morning.
  157. That's to make sure you're ready for assemblies, which begin
  158. at 8 25 on other activities.
  159. So on a lot of young people getting much earlier
  160. than that and they'll go to their form room or
  161. that sit outside, reading a book or chatting or doing
  162. something to get ready for the day.
  163. Your form tutor is probably the most important person in
  164. the school for you.
  165. They are there to look after you, and so they
  166. will kind of your mom or dad to ask you
  167. in school.
  168. And, of course, there the first person that you should
  169. talk Teoh, either as a student if you got a
  170. problem, or mums and dads.
  171. If you need to get in contact with any body,
  172. then it would be three former chooser.
  173. And of course it's really important we look after you
  174. on this is cool, your well being.
  175. Ah, nde There a couple of things here.
  176. We do want everybody to be happy, genuinely so there
  177. may be a few days when you know that isn't
  178. always case.
  179. But by and large, you will be really happy at
  180. school. Make lots of friends on, of course, get on
  181. with each other.
  182. Ah, nde part of well being is that you will
  183. be successful at the end, and that's really important to
  184. us because he makes you feel really good.
  185. So by adopting everything that we have school, I'm sure
  186. everything will go very smoothly on.
  187. There will be no issues at all and nothing for
  188. you to be worried about.
  189. The last thing I'd like to say is just about
  190. some other basics.
  191. So mobile phones.
  192. I'm sure you're well aware that we do allow you
  193. to have a mobile phone, but you mustn't be visible
  194. during the day.
  195. It must be switched off.
  196. It is only there for emergencies before school or after
  197. school. If there's an emergency during the day, then we
  198. have phones here and we will phone home contact that
  199. way. So we do ask mums and dads not to
  200. try and contact your Children by mobile to in daytime.
  201. That's very important.
  202. Security could be finding them important time when they're in
  203. the middle of a lesson just comes out of school
  204. and for students.
  205. I'm afraid if we do see you with a phone
  206. out or misusing it, then there are consequences.
  207. Ah, Nde.
  208. I'm sure that that is something you want to avoid.
  209. So for me, Mr Gray Head and school, I really
  210. looking forward to meeting you.
  211. We will be starting in September.
  212. The announcement has now been made by the government on
  213. Dhe. The moment the plan is that you'll come in
  214. on Thursday, the third of September for the whole day
  215. as an induction, that which obviously we've missed.
  216. In June, I on we will give you an opportunity
  217. then to meet everybody in person on Dhe to look
  218. around the campus and get familiar with the place before
  219. all the rest of it students joined suit.
  220. So have a very enjoyable summer holiday.
  221. Everybody on dhe.
  222. Welcome to Sandra
