  1. Okay. The third and definitely not the last.
  2. But the third reason that stood out to me why you need this book
  3. in your life as an educator or an administrator or anyone who works with Children
  4. is
  5. this book really highlighted towards the end,
  6. measuring what matters in a way that matters.
  7. And just that chapter title alone really grabbed
  8. me because I have never administered state testing.
  9. My fifth graders have never taken state testing and I hear
  10. it all around campus is get ready for the aspect,
  11. get ready for the aspect and I can almost
  12. feel my kids getting anxiety and
  13. I'm trying my hardest
  14. to alleviate alleviate that anxiety,
  15. but still encouraging them to show their resilience to
  16. show what they've learned and done and worked so hard
  17. at the last couple of years. And so this book really
  18. highlights a lot of points about standardized testing and and the
  19. pros and cons and what really
  20. it does for our kids.
  21. I showed my students the video from week four of the
  22. interview and um I choose c I I loved it.
  23. My kids loved it.
  24. Um it really,
  25. we had a really great discussion afterwards of why I
  26. showed that to them and what they thought about it and
  27. I just really,
  28. really enjoyed why how that material tied in really well with Chapter eight
  29. of the big picture because there is a quote and it says,
  30. I am not a letter in the Alphabet, I'm more than that.
  31. And those,
  32. those test scores and those grades tend to make
  33. kids feel like they are that letter and I
  34. want to be the teacher that make sure that
  35. her students know that they are more than that.
  36. So I I really enjoyed reading the perspectives in the examples in this book and
  37. how to take the different ways and different
  38. types of assessments and the assessments in our
  39. understanding by design curriculum
  40. and taking this book and that book and really working with my kids to understand
  41. this might not be, you know, your strength,
  42. but that doesn't mean it's your weakness and we are going
  43. to find a way to show how you can shine.
  44. And I just loved all the different opportunities and examples for that in this book.
  45. And that is one of the reasons why I think you need it.
