00:01 - 00:05
in this video, I'm discussing a little bit of what
00:06 - 00:07
they found out for me.
00:07 - 00:12
Sorry. And when things I found out was whole, there's
00:12 - 00:16
actually a new wave of feminism, and they've holy the
00:16 - 00:19
fourth wave of feminism and it kind of ties to
00:19 - 00:20
the whole Me too.
00:20 - 00:25
Movement. Um, one of the things I found out was
00:25 - 00:31
how the me too movement actually started in 2006 to
00:31 - 00:34
help women of color who survived sexual violence.
00:34 - 00:40
But a ZX the time proceeded in 2017.
00:41 - 00:45
You know, it actually became more rights read because, um,
00:45 - 00:48
actresses started to talk about it, and they started to
00:48 - 00:53
talk about how you what was happening as they were,
00:54 - 00:57
you know, going out for roles and Weinstein and how
00:57 - 01:00
it opened it up to more people have been talking
01:00 - 01:03
about it on social media and Twitter, you know, because
01:04 - 01:07
people started creating hashtags to share their story.
01:07 - 01:11
And because of this story, they start, you know, they
01:11 - 01:16
even created like a church to hashtag other stories for
01:16 - 01:19
women, and even men who had been sexually abused to
01:20 - 01:21
talk about in shared the story.
01:22 - 01:25
And it also brought up another issue that was in
01:25 - 01:31
the other ways of feminism, where some women, I felt
01:31 - 01:37
it didn't do two presidents to the but the way
01:37 - 01:40
had actually started in 2006 related to women of color.
01:40 - 01:43
But yet this mood to movement because of the Internet
01:43 - 01:47
and because of their social media, was able to open
01:47 - 01:51
up avenues for women of all color women, of all
01:51 - 01:55
classes, women to talk about what they had gone through.
01:58 - 02:02
And I remember I was discussing the me too movement.
02:03 - 02:03
Rid my mom.
02:04 - 02:06
And what is the name she brought up?
02:06 - 02:11
Waas. She was sad because in men that women who
02:11 - 02:15
had died before this him about we're not ever able.
02:16 - 02:19
If they had been sexually abused or sexually harassed, they
02:19 - 02:22
were never able to talk about it because they had
02:22 - 02:24
died and they could have died for many reasons because
02:25 - 02:26
they were saying because they were depressed.
02:27 - 02:29
And it made me think about how you have some
02:30 - 02:32
people who don't agree with the meeting movement.
02:33 - 02:35
Well, we will talk about, you know, how come they
02:35 - 02:37
didn't come out sooner, or how come they're coming out
02:38 - 02:40
now after they made their money and it all goes
02:40 - 02:42
back to this sense of power.
02:43 - 02:47
And there have been women who have talked about, you
02:47 - 02:50
know, sexual harassment work or rate, and they're not believed.
02:51 - 02:53
Or they do go to the cops and their blamed
02:54 - 02:58
because of how they dressed or how they, you know,
02:58 - 03:01
of how you know where what were they doing?
03:01 - 03:04
And, you know, how did they say No in the
03:04 - 03:06
right way, you know, because I read out in articles
03:07 - 03:09
that there's been lawyers who would ask questions like that
03:09 - 03:12
in rape cases, like they would say, Okay, when you
03:12 - 03:13
said no, did you mean it?
03:13 - 03:18
And it's like, Okay, but they brought up this concept,
03:19 - 03:25
Uh, because of social media and because of Internet women
03:26 - 03:32
and men can be sexually who have been sexually abused
03:32 - 03:34
or have been raped to now talk about it can
03:35 - 03:35
now share their stories.
03:36 - 03:38
And they also goes back here.
03:38 - 03:42
They say, Oh, you know, So people will tie back
03:43 - 03:46
to like churches and the way they reviews people are
03:46 - 03:48
priests the way they abused boys.
03:48 - 03:52
But even men who have later talked about that abuse
03:52 - 03:54
have talked about when they would come forward.
03:55 - 03:57
They were still not believed right they were or they
03:57 - 04:00
were told, turning things or they were made to believe,
04:00 - 04:03
like, oh, you caused of being for it to happen.
04:03 - 04:05
So then they didn't share that story, so they can
04:06 - 04:07
be a different things.
04:09 - 04:13
Different reasons Why, though short, their stories aren't shared.
04:16 - 04:21
Which brings me to when I hear the term.
04:21 - 04:22
Me too.
04:23 - 04:27
I always think about when you're meeting people for the
04:27 - 04:27
first time.
04:27 - 04:30
And it could be like, you know the first time,
04:30 - 04:32
like you're going to your first job or you're starting
04:33 - 04:35
a new job and you're starting to meet people or
04:35 - 04:37
you're in school in history First day of classes, or
04:37 - 04:40
when you move away from home for the first time
04:40 - 04:42
in 18 to go to college and you start meeting
04:43 - 04:46
people that you may not know and you start talking
04:46 - 04:47
about, you know, things.
04:48 - 04:49
And it could be anything here.
04:49 - 04:50
We could be where you grew up.
04:51 - 04:52
Bigamy. Did you have pets?
04:53 - 04:57
You know, it could be talking about diabetes, like, you
04:57 - 05:01
know, there's always this connection to another person when they
05:01 - 05:04
say, Oh, I diabetic to your I got diagnosed at
05:04 - 05:08
a young age or there's me to for me creates
05:08 - 05:12
this connection among people or in this case, among women
05:12 - 05:15
or even among men, felt like they should actually talk
05:15 - 05:17
about something that most people don't want to talk about.
05:18 - 05:20
And for some people, they don't want to hear about
05:20 - 05:23
it because they say, Oh, it's always happened But maybe
05:24 - 05:26
these people are sharing it to kind of be like
05:26 - 05:28
Maybe it doesn't always have to happen.
05:29 - 05:31
And so for me, the me too movement is not
05:32 - 05:35
just related to sexual harassment or sexual abuse.
05:36 - 05:39
It's related to all things that humans can go through.
05:39 - 05:42
It's related to being able to relate to another human
05:43 - 05:44
being. When you meet them for the first time and
05:44 - 05:48
you're talking about something and it's something you've also been
05:48 - 05:50
through and you're like, Oh, wait you to or you
05:50 - 05:51
know like me is here.
05:51 - 05:55
I've got do that and there's this connection created, and
05:55 - 05:59
these connections that are created can help others.
05:59 - 06:02
You can hope, you know, they could help stop gains
06:02 - 06:07
from happening or can help parade this sense that in
06:08 - 06:11
the current generation, you know someone does get hurt or
06:11 - 06:15
someone is getting sexually arrest or someone does get sexually
06:15 - 06:18
abused, they'll be able to find someone that will help
06:18 - 06:21
them or be able to share their story without being
06:21 - 06:22
put down without being told.
06:23 - 06:26
Hey, you know, this happened to you because of this,
06:26 - 06:29
and they'll be able to maybe stop whoever's actually doing
06:30 - 06:31
that harassment or the bath Maine.
06:34 - 06:37
And so for my survey, I want to know that
06:38 - 06:40
when you hear the term, me, too.
06:41 - 06:43
When you first heard about that when it first started
06:43 - 06:46
happening, it first started being out there, whether it was
06:46 - 06:49
back in 2006 or back when the actresses were doing
06:49 - 06:50
it, How did you feel?
06:51 - 06:52
And also for you?
06:54 - 06:57
What is me to make you think about it?
06:57 - 07:00
What do you relate to it when you hear it?
07:01 - 07:03
You know, do do you feel like how I feel
07:04 - 07:07
like it creates these connections of these relationships and in
07:07 - 07:10
a place where people can come together to help each
07:10 - 07:13
other out, and so also, your stop something bad for
07:13 - 07:15
happening? Or how do you feel about this concept
