  1. Good evening.
  2. My name is James Turner.
  3. I'd like to speak with you about one of my
  4. many plans on fixing foster care today.
  5. We'll be going over some real current issues that we
  6. see in foster care and what I plan to do
  7. to fix it.
  8. Yeah. So what's the big idea?
  9. Right? Big idea is a group home and we know
  10. a group homes exist, but our group is going to
  11. be a little different.
  12. We're going to be solely focused on the professional and
  13. career development of our Children.
  14. Here's a swat analysis to kind of go over some
  15. of the things that we plan to run into and
  16. some of the things that we feel like we have
  17. on our side that can really, really help fix the
  18. system. Okay, so where are you going?
  19. Right stats tell us that you may end up dead
  20. homeless or in jail before they have anything else that
  21. happens to him.
  22. And that's not very positive.
  23. We would like to change that.
  24. Uh, Our plans are to engage with these who are
  25. 13 and older, see something really cool happens in foster
  26. care. We can turn 13, you're asked if you want
  27. to be adopted or if you would like to go
  28. into independent living.
  29. Right? Independent living is for Children who don't want to
  30. be adopted and that's what we're going to be.
  31. We're going to be targeting, we want our homes to
  32. be filled with kids who completely abandon the idea of
  33. an adoption and are solely wanting to create a future
  34. for themselves with their own hands.
  35. Here's a quick little timeline that you're gonna see two
  36. more times from now.
  37. Right? So from 13 to 15, we want you to
  38. really start thinking about their future at 16.
  39. We want you to have a job or participating in
  40. an extracurricular event that lines up with their goals 17
  41. through 18.
  42. We would like to see you demonstrating professional skills or
  43. at least applying to college.
  44. Our group home also knows that we're not the first
  45. to feel this way.
  46. We know that there's other programs out there who would
  47. love to see you in foster care do well post
  48. foster care as well.
  49. So some of the issues that we're going to face
  50. is that some of the normalcy plans that are in
  51. foster care and the red lines that the government has
  52. created to uh for the intention to protect the child.
  53. There's things like social media and stuff that are out
  54. there that sometimes you don't even have access to because
  55. they have to be protected.
  56. Or there's there's something uh there's something that they need
  57. to be protected from and having social media can be
  58. hard to monitor or to focus on what the kids
  59. are putting out in and how they're engaging with the
  60. real world.
  61. We plan to tackle this issue by creating online community
  62. community that's committed to providing resources and connections to ensure
  63. successful youth post care.
  64. So it's going to be sort of like a facebook
  65. for foster kids.
  66. But the cool thing about this is that the kids
  67. who are in who in our homes and leave our
  68. homes are going to be the only Children who have
  69. access to it.
  70. Alright, so here's our timeline again at 13 and 15,
  71. we want the Children to be able to sign up
  72. for online communities to kind of test and we're going
  73. to have tests that kind of figure out where they
  74. are experience, where they are experience experiencing was like how
  75. how far are they along this path of success 16.
  76. We want to be able to have Children to communicate
  77. with alum, just kind of going over uh kids who
  78. have uh been through the system and seeing things that
  79. they've seen and kind of get, you know, pick their
  80. mind and figure out what they did that work and
  81. what they didn't work 17 and 18.
  82. We just want our youth who are older to kind
  83. of go back and help the younger youth figure out
  84. where they want to be in life and finally, how
  85. we measuring post care success.
  86. Right? So, again, the problems, you know, kids are not
  87. ended ended up dead, they ended up homeless or they
  88. end up incarcerated.
  89. We don't want that.
  90. We want to see kids do well, and our plan
  91. is to engage with them about educational goals, career goals
  92. and or reconnection with their family, right?
  93. So what is it that you're going to make sure
  94. that you're going to get that secondary education if you
  95. don't want that secondary education, what career path are you
  96. choosing? That's going to be just as uh powerful, impactful
  97. in your life.
  98. And if you don't want either of those things or
  99. those things are just kind of or if those things
  100. aren't uh your primary focus and your primary focus is
  101. to reconnect with your family, how can we help you
  102. do that?
  103. And again, here's a quick timeline to kind of go
  104. over what, what ages.
  105. We'd love to see these kids accomplish these milestones.
  106. And this is genesis group home that's creating a future
  107. for the future.
