  1. for the first community that we will be talking about,
  2. it will be Life Bridge community church.
  3. Now, the reason why I chose this,
  4. I followed them on instagram since I first heard about doing this presentation,
  5. doing the social media scam and what I really love about this community churches,
  6. they're very exclusive.
  7. I mean they're very inclusive.
  8. They not only hold events for the church,
  9. but they also hold events for folks outside of the church.
  10. As you can see from their instagram page, they are very,
  11. very active and they have a multitude of events and it's just a great place for
  12. people to stay informed who are interested in
  13. this church or just the community in general,
  14. for example, they have something called the Harvest Hoedown,
  15. I have heard about this, I've actually been to this,
  16. this is such an amazing place and the fact that it's a real community
  17. coming together
  18. to create something fun for folks of all ages.
  19. In fact, people from Houston from Katie, from Richmond,
  20. from a couple of cities over all come to the
  21. rural community to enjoy the festivities at the harvest hoedown,
  22. such as carnival games, foods rides, there's a chili cook off,
  23. there's also peach cobbler cook off.
  24. Um and there's a boatload of other things and this one is coming up
  25. October 29, so this is coming up very soon and
  26. the LifeBridge community Church instagram has just been a great way to
  27. reach folks of all ages because it is no secret that the youth
  28. were very familiar and very comfortable with technology and this is just a
  29. huge way to reach us and for us to find out information.
  30. So that's what I love about this um LifeBridge Community Church specifically.
  31. Next we'll be discussing Seeley I. S. D. Police Department.
  32. Okay
  33. now I have personally met with them and I don't even want to say silly I. S. D.
  34. Police Department. I want to say silly I. S. D. Police family and police humans.
  35. They are so loving. They are literally there to serve the people.
  36. I love that about this police department.
  37. Now as you can see from their Youtube which is
  38. one of their forms of social media that they use
  39. to reach folks of all ages.
  40. It's called the U. S. Deputy Sheriffs Association.
  41. Okay, now this is just recently created, this is a new thing.
  42. However they purposely did this because they see that there
  43. is a generation who is moving towards internet use.
  44. So this is a great way for them that they have made this Youtube
  45. strictly with the idea to reach out to those who are very familiar.
  46. For example the youth and young adults,
  47. this next generation who is very familiar with social media
  48. as you can see on here. They have informed informational videos.
  49. For example this one is about
  50. who they are, why this Youtube video was started.
  51. Why this Excuse me Youtube channel was started.
  52. That's what I love about them is that they really try
  53. to reach everyone and connect with everyone regardless of your age,
  54. race backgrounds, wherever you're from.
  55. This is a family.
  56. Mhm.
  57. So here's a couple other things from their Youtube now,
  58. the things on the left they host and they invite the
  59. public of the community to come to to learn more about.
  60. Okay,
  61. it can be a presentation or there are also
  62. some events where they invite the community to also
  63. you know,
  64. join in with them and why I highlighted
  65. these three videos on the right is because they
  66. are in collaboration with the city council which
  67. we will get into later on in this presentation
  68. and speaking of the city council, here they are
  69. the city council,
  70. they are there to make decisions and also think for the
  71. people but they're also there to listen to the people.
  72. Okay there, Mayor Carolyn Belinsky,
  73. this is a new website that she created so that the folks of
  74. the rural community can contact her and express their needs to her.
  75. And also on the right on your forest, right,
  76. you can see a name of all the city council members.
  77. Okay. And now in the middle.
  78. Yes, this is from the police department,
  79. this is from their Youtube. However,
  80. these videos that I have here, they're in collaboration with the city council,
  81. which that I think that that's beautiful
  82. because it's already showing that multiple aspects
  83. of this community come together to reach the rest of the community as well.
  84. But wait, there
  85. also is Seeley high School.
  86. Now this is a very very
  87. well known high school especially you know given
  88. the fact that it's also a rural community,
  89. they are constantly on the news as you can see.
  90. They have been on Good Morning America as well, they're in our local news,
  91. I am very proud of this community because it is thriving and
  92. you see a lot of youth growing up they're coming back,
  93. they're coming to visit
  94. Sealy texas is definitely a place where
  95. the youth are recognized and that's why I love silly
  96. high school is because they hold a ton of events.
  97. For example they have a fair schedule. The Sealy I. S. D.
  98. Fair break schedule now in texas we take off 2 to
  99. 3 holidays dedicated to literally just going to the fair.
  100. So no school just fair day as you can see
  101. Um this is their recent list,
  102. October 13 is student holiday for the fair as well as Friday and Saturday as well.
  103. So it's a great place for everyone in the community and outside
  104. of the community to come together and just have a good time
  105. and here's their instagram that has other information as well
  106. and something that I
  107. really wanted to
  108. point out because this is something very very
  109. touching to me is it's called Battle belleville.
  110. That's how you have to say it with a little country twang,
  111. that's how we say it down their Battle Belleville.
  112. Um It's basically giving can
  113. the boot, it's donating, but it's we're dressed up as a theme and it's just a host,
  114. it's a drive.
  115. Um oh it's something really fun, they do something unique and different every year.
  116. This um to get money,
  117. this one this year will be um their administrator
  118. or principals or teachers kissing a farm animal.
  119. That is actually pretty funny.
  120. Um The next, we have the place called cast iron winery.
  121. This is a place where folks in the community come and just have a good time,
  122. learn about wine, do wine tasting.
  123. They also um have wine tastings for those who are looking,
  124. you know to get married and they want to take certain wines for their venue.
  125. Um I think that this is beautiful because they hold multiple events and
  126. this event is definitely very popular maybe because it has alcohol in it,
  127. but it is very popular um
  128. a lot of the community that come to this
  129. and so that's what I think is very beautiful about
  130. the texas winos is because it shows its strength within
  131. community bonding over a common interest such as wine.
  132. Okay and last but not least we have the shepherd's way church.
  133. Okay, here's their instagram, shepherd's way church.
  134. I have personally been there and when I tell you they really,
  135. they really emphasize not only just on
  136. generations but they really have a heart for those who
  137. are in the youth and for women as well,
  138. so that's what I like about this because usually when I have seen rural communities,
  139. it seems like there's not much things for the youth to do.
  140. However, thanks to places like the shepherd's way church,
  141. there's a multitude of things to do.
  142. In fact,
  143. they're having a blessing and treats night coming up
  144. and this is where all the kids come over,
  145. it's kind of like trunk or treat and everyone just comes and has a good time
  146. overall.
  147. I love Sealy texas,
  148. what a wonderful rural community.
  149. And it is showing that this is a real community and we care about the youth,
  150. we care about the elderly, we care about community.
  151. I also like that they have a smaller population because they have more intimacy.
  152. This is not a stereotypical rural community that
  153. I have heard
  154. growing up, this place
  155. really highlights the aspect of community.
  156. The biggest strength is community,
  157. and the reason why I keep saying community is because
  158. community opens the door for a ride range of things
  159. and that's why Sealy texas is the rural community I chose to do.
  160. My name is Trenton Rucker. Thank you so much for this presentation.
