00:11 - 00:14
confidence is the next see in helping you create a
00:14 - 00:15
winning culture.
00:16 - 00:28
Now that you understand your okay confidence, you see now
00:28 - 00:32
that you have provided more clarity and gained more clarity
00:32 - 00:35
about goals and the strategy to achieve those goals.
00:35 - 00:40
How confident is your team in actually executing the strategy?
00:41 - 00:42
You see if you want to create a winning culture
00:43 - 00:45
and become the best place to work, you need to
00:45 - 00:49
be consistently developing your team's confidence to help them achieve
00:50 - 00:51
greater success.
00:53 - 00:54
So why is it more important?
00:55 - 00:58
Well, we need to develop our team's confidence and develop
00:59 - 01:02
their skills because it enhances resilience, and we certainly experience
01:03 - 01:05
a lot of that over the last 18 months with
01:05 - 01:05
a pandemic.
01:06 - 01:10
If your team weren't feeling confident than they certainly weren't
01:10 - 01:11
going to be resilient during this period.
01:12 - 01:17
Any level of uncertainty um or discomfort makes it difficult
01:18 - 01:20
for people to want to stay within an organisation.
01:21 - 01:22
So confidence creates comfort.
01:23 - 01:27
It helps overcome any limiting beliefs, any excuses, any pessimism
01:28 - 01:32
that may exist within your organization, confidence improves performance because
01:33 - 01:37
now everybody has a better understanding of how they can
01:37 - 01:37
achieve their goals.
01:38 - 01:42
And finally, confidence and skills drives success.
01:44 - 01:48
So I want you again to reflect after this conference,
01:49 - 01:53
back at Your bank on what requires confidence, not just
01:53 - 01:55
of you as a leader, because now a lot of
01:55 - 01:58
people think confidence is about me being a confident leader,
01:59 - 02:03
but also what what areas of confidence to your staff
02:03 - 02:06
need to have in order to help them achieve their
02:06 - 02:10
goals. How can you be better at building your team's
02:10 - 02:15
confidence? Here is a very simple model that I've used
02:15 - 02:19
for many years as a bank coaches, a bank leader,
02:19 - 02:22
and now as a professional coach, you see, if you
02:22 - 02:26
want to build your team's confidence, that it's important that
02:27 - 02:30
you understand what beliefs they have, what beliefs their their
02:31 - 02:34
parents. You see if they don't believe in your products,
02:34 - 02:37
if they don't believe in your processes, if they don't
02:37 - 02:40
believe in your banks brand, then they have very low
02:41 - 02:44
expectations of success and that will definitely impact their confidence.
02:44 - 02:48
However, if you can get them to believe and you
02:48 - 02:51
can develop their beliefs, overcome any limiting beliefs that they
02:51 - 02:54
may have and get them to believe that they can
02:55 - 02:58
be successful that clients and customers want your products and
02:58 - 03:01
want your services and that your bank is the leading
03:01 - 03:03
bank in your market, then there will be far more
03:04 - 03:08
confident which results in greater actions, greater behaviors and definitely
03:09 - 03:10
better results.
03:11 - 03:15
So how do you achieve greater confidence through good, consistent
03:16 - 03:21
coaching? You see doing training sessions on an ad hoc
03:21 - 03:24
basis, will not develop your team skills.
03:25 - 03:29
Dean Mannix is one of the Australia's leading bank coaches
03:30 - 03:34
and he professes that good, consistent coaching will always exceed
03:35 - 03:36
occasionally great training.
03:37 - 03:40
So it's wonderful that you're attending this annual conference and
03:40 - 03:43
learning great tips and ideas to help you be successful.
03:44 - 03:47
But now you need to implement those now you need
03:47 - 03:51
to review these notes, review these recordings, but certainly create
03:52 - 03:53
a coaching cadence.
03:55 - 03:57
So what does a coaching cadence look like?
03:57 - 04:00
Well, I've already explained the first time and that's a
04:00 - 04:02
great growth strategy review.
04:02 - 04:05
Do you collaborate with your team at least once a
04:05 - 04:06
year to review your strategy?
04:07 - 04:10
Not dictate the strategy to them, but collaborate so they
04:10 - 04:14
can share their thoughts on the strategies for success.
04:15 - 04:17
Are you having weekly team meetings or at least bi
04:18 - 04:19
weekly team meetings?
04:19 - 04:21
I see a lot of inconsistency when it comes to
04:21 - 04:25
team meetings, your team meetings should inspire success.
04:26 - 04:28
That helps create greater confidence.
04:29 - 04:31
That helps improve your team skills.
04:32 - 04:35
So make sure that there's a component of regular coaching
04:36 - 04:39
in your team meetings, coach your team on the things
04:40 - 04:42
that they need to do better coach your team on
04:43 - 04:46
how to improve their beliefs and build their confidence.
04:46 - 04:49
Are you having monthly, one on one meetings with your
04:49 - 04:49
direct reports?
04:50 - 04:54
Not just to review pipeline but to coach and inspire
04:54 - 04:57
them to build their confidence to challenge any limiting beliefs
04:57 - 05:00
of concerns that they may have and help them overcome
05:00 - 05:05
them. And finally, joint customer meetings, especially if you're managing
05:05 - 05:07
frontline people, I know that a lot of you may
05:08 - 05:10
be managing back off the staff, that's fine, but if
05:10 - 05:14
you're managing front of front office staff, frontline staff, do
05:14 - 05:16
some joint customer meetings.
05:17 - 05:20
See the second, see in helping you create a winning
05:20 - 05:24
culture is confidence and I've just shared with you a
05:24 - 05:25
few tips on how to do that.
05:26 - 05:40
Now let's get into the third C consistency and consistency
05:41 - 05:44
quite frankly, is one of the hardest elements for bank
05:45 - 05:48
leaders to truly excel it.
05:49 - 05:52
You see consistency is so important for a number of
05:52 - 05:55
reasons, consistency produces good habits.
05:56 - 06:00
It builds trust consistency in the way that you lead
06:00 - 06:04
your team consistency in the way that you engage your
06:04 - 06:08
customers consistency in the way people can achieve their goals.
06:09 - 06:13
It helps builds trust and helps improve skills, It creates
06:13 - 06:17
accountability. Are you consistently meeting with your team?
06:17 - 06:19
Are you consistently having one on one meetings?
06:19 - 06:23
Or are you always deferring those meetings, putting off those
06:24 - 06:26
meetings? You know, canceling team meetings?
06:27 - 06:28
That's not consistency.
06:29 - 06:33
Remember what you do consistently is what is remembered?
06:34 - 06:38
People. Remember what you do consistently, whether it's good or
06:39 - 06:41
bad. So we want consistency.
06:42 - 06:43
We want to make sure that there's a structure in
06:43 - 06:48
place to help us deliver consistently on clarity on confidence.
06:49 - 06:53
Because it differentiates you very few banks and bank leaders
06:53 - 06:55
are consistent, right?
06:56 - 07:00
There are very few are not very few bank leaders
07:00 - 07:13
and fucking them consistency.
07:15 - 07:17
And this is one of the most difficult elements of
07:18 - 07:19
the leadership excellence model.
07:19 - 07:24
For most bank leaders, consistency is critical for creating a
07:24 - 07:24
winning culture.
07:25 - 07:32
Why? Well with consistency, you can help produce good habits,
07:32 - 07:35
not only for yourself as a leader, but also for
07:35 - 07:40
your staff doing things consistently creates good habits, consistency helps
07:40 - 07:44
build trust between you and your staff and your customers.
07:45 - 07:45
Think about it.
07:45 - 07:49
If you're not consistently calling your clients, then they start
07:49 - 07:51
that trust starts to dissolve.
07:51 - 07:54
But if you are consistently calling your clients, then that
07:54 - 07:57
trust builds, they know they can trust you to execute
07:58 - 07:58
on their request.
07:59 - 08:01
They can trust you to help them when they are
08:01 - 08:03
in need and the same goes with your staff.
08:03 - 08:06
Are you consistently meeting with them consistently holding team meetings,
08:07 - 08:10
consistently having one on one sessions or are you consistently
08:11 - 08:15
deferring them or cancelling them consistency, improved skills.
08:15 - 08:20
It creates accountability because what we do consistently will ensure
08:21 - 08:22
that we can be more successful.
08:23 - 08:25
It differentiates you why?
08:26 - 08:29
Because not a lot of banks and bank leaders are
08:29 - 08:29
good at consistency.
08:30 - 08:34
So the better you are creating a structure, right?
08:34 - 08:36
That enables you to be more consistent in the delivery
08:36 - 08:40
of your service, in the delivery of your support to
08:40 - 08:43
your team, the better you're going to be and then
08:43 - 08:47
and then that is a strong point of difference, consistency
08:47 - 08:49
provides familiarity, right?
08:50 - 08:52
It enables us we know what to expect at a
08:52 - 08:53
team meeting.
08:53 - 08:57
We know how to conduct a customer meeting, right?
08:58 - 09:01
And consistency ultimately drives results.
09:03 - 09:06
So bank leaders, once again, I encourage you after this
09:06 - 09:09
conference to think about what requires consistency.
09:10 - 09:11
How can you be more consistent?
09:12 - 09:16
I just want to highlight this very, very important issue.
09:18 - 09:50
That consistency, consistency is one of the most difficult elements
09:51 - 09:55
in the leadership excellence model that most bank leaders struggle
09:55 - 09:59
with. And really it's probably the most important because you
10:00 - 10:05
see what you do consistent consistently is what's remembered people
10:05 - 10:10
remember what you do consistently, whether it's good or bad.
10:11 - 10:15
For example, customers will remember that you call them, you
10:15 - 10:20
call them back consistently, that you email them consistently whenever
10:20 - 10:23
they have an issue that you always follow up and
10:23 - 10:27
deliver. Your staff will remember that you meet with them
10:27 - 10:31
consistently, that your team meetings are consistently held.
10:32 - 10:36
But customers and staff will always will also remember if
10:36 - 10:40
you don't consistently call back that if you don't consistently
10:41 - 10:43
hold one on one team meeting, one on one meetings
10:44 - 10:46
or team meetings, man, I am struggling.
10:48 - 10:58
Mhm consistency is one of the most important elements of
10:58 - 11:00
the leadership excellence model.
11:00 - 11:03
However, it is also one that most bank leaders struggle
11:04 - 11:09
with. You see it's critical that you are consistent now.
11:10 - 11:11
Think about it when it comes to your customers.
11:12 - 11:17
They remember what you consistently do well, calling them back,
11:18 - 11:21
responding to their emails, delivering on their requests.
11:22 - 11:23
But so do your staff.
11:24 - 11:28
They remember what you consistently do well, such as team
11:28 - 11:29
meetings and one on one meetings.
11:30 - 11:33
But when you don't call customers back, when you're continually
11:33 - 11:37
canceling meetings with your staff, they'll also remember that.
11:38 - 11:41
And that is not the kind of culture you want
11:41 - 11:41
to create.
11:42 - 11:45
So to create a winning culture, we need to be
11:45 - 11:48
consistent and why do we need consistency?
11:48 - 11:51
Why don't we, why do we need to develop structures
11:52 - 11:54
that help us be more consistent?
11:54 - 11:56
Is because it produces good habits.
11:57 - 11:59
It builds trust with our customers and our staff.
12:01 - 12:06
It improves everybody's skills because we're consistently delivering those skills,
12:06 - 12:10
were consistently coaching those skills, it creates greater accountability.
12:11 - 12:12
It differentiates you.
12:13 - 12:18
So few banks and bank leaders consistently deliver good habits
12:18 - 12:19
and good practices.
12:20 - 12:20
They truly don't.
12:21 - 12:25
And therefore if you can be consistent with these good
12:25 - 12:28
behaviors with these good habits, then you will differentiate yourself
12:29 - 12:32
not only to your customers, but as an organization that
12:32 - 12:36
attracts people and remember people talk about what you do
12:36 - 12:41
consistently good or bad, it provides familiarity and it certainly
12:42 - 12:42
drives results.
12:43 - 12:47
So again, after this conference, I strongly encourage all bank
12:47 - 12:52
leaders to reflect on what requires more consistency and how
12:52 - 12:53
you can be better at that.
12:56 - 12:59
The enemy of consistency is not time is not time
13:00 - 13:02
management. A lot of people think, well, I just don't
13:02 - 13:03
have enough time.
13:03 - 13:04
That's why I cancel these meetings.
13:05 - 13:07
That's why I don't get back to my customers straight
13:07 - 13:08
away. That's nonsense.
13:09 - 13:10
We all have the same amount of time.
13:11 - 13:11
The enemy of consistency.
13:12 - 13:15
What's causing you to not be consistent is self doubt,
13:16 - 13:19
a lack of belief that you should be contacting your
13:19 - 13:22
clients or immediately responding or lack of belief about coaching
13:23 - 13:24
and meeting with your staff.
13:25 - 13:28
When you don't have any desired goals, you failed to
13:28 - 13:30
be consistent and there's a lack of focus when there's
13:30 - 13:33
no plan when you're more task oriented.
13:33 - 13:37
Yes, we're all guilty of that, of being reactive because
13:37 - 13:38
we're all good employees.
13:39 - 13:41
But you don't realize that this service is doing to
13:41 - 13:45
your culture by not being consistent by failing to be
13:45 - 13:48
consistent with others because you're being too reactive and taking
13:48 - 13:52
on too many tasks, a lack of coaching, a lack
13:52 - 13:56
of coaching and personal development on how you can better
13:56 - 13:59
manage your time and how you can better delegate tasks
14:00 - 14:02
on how you can be a more effective coach.
14:02 - 14:06
That that is the enemy of consistent by not committing
14:06 - 14:09
to personal development and finally, a fear of failure.
14:09 - 14:13
We all fear failure and as a result it can
14:13 - 14:15
have an impact on our ability to be consistent.
14:17 - 14:19
I'm now going to share with you a very quick
14:20 - 14:23
tip on how you can improve your consistency.
14:26 - 14:26
Uh huh.
