  1. today, we're gonna be talking about plant and animal cell
  2. vocabulary words.
  3. This lesson is going to help you tremendously when you
  4. guys were working on your sort today, after you watch
  5. the lesson so I can make sure to review with
  6. you guys one more time.
  7. So let's just review a couple things.
  8. Cells are the basic building blocks of life.
  9. In order for life to occur, a cell has to
  10. be present.
  11. So cells Aaron, all living things.
  12. Cells are too small to be seen.
  13. With your eyes.
  14. You need a microscope in order to see them.
  15. Let's start with our first word.
  16. That is the nucleus.
  17. This is the cells control center.
  18. It directs activities, and it's the location of the DNA.
  19. The nucleus is found in both cell types.
  20. Let's take a look.
  21. This black circle that can be found in about the
  22. center of each of the cells is the nucleus.
  23. They're always going to be in near the center, and
  24. they do contain the DNA as well as direct activities.
  25. Now let's take a look at the Stadio Plasm title.
  26. Kassem is a jelly like fluid that's inside the cell
  27. because it's jelly like I like to think of Jell
  28. O. But grape jelly would work to our strawberry jelly
  29. because it still allows for things to move around in
  30. it. But it's definitely controlled, so the giant like fluid
  31. inside the cell allows for controlled movement.
  32. Cytoplasm is found in both of the cells.
  33. In this particular image, the cytoplasm is what is gray,
  34. so it kind of controls the movement of everything and
  35. keeps everything in its location.
  36. But things on the cell are active and moving, so
  37. it does move around just a little bit.
  38. The next thing we have is evac you'll now we
  39. know for sure that vacuous air actually in plant cells,
  40. but I do need to make a tiny correction.
  41. Animal cells also have a vacuole, because remember vac U
  42. ALS are a place for food storage.
  43. Animal cells also need a place to store food, but
  44. in a plant cell, the vacuole is huge.
  45. We're in an animal cell.
  46. It's a lot smaller, so the main purpose of evac
  47. you'll is at its doors food, nutrients, water, hand waste
  48. when cells air done with certain things that they go
  49. to the bathroom.
  50. But they do have things that they just need to
  51. get rid off.
  52. They don't need it anymore.
  53. And the cell is such a high functioning thing that
  54. it has a location for waste and dispose of those
  55. things when they're done again.
  56. Evac U ALS are much bigger in plant cells, and
  57. they are found in both.
  58. You don't see evac u yl in our diagram over
  59. here on the animal cell, but you can see that
  60. the Vacco's is big, white, kind of swirly looking of
  61. item, and it is huge compared to like, the nucleus
  62. are the core of classes, so it does take up
  63. a lot.
  64. And that's easy to remember because plants need water.
  65. The next thing we have is the cell remembering.
  66. Now. The cell membrane is found in both types of
  67. cells on the animal cell.
  68. It's the outer layer.
  69. Remember, this outer part of the cell allows for water
  70. and oxygen to pass through, but it also is flexible
  71. enough and is kind of bossy.
  72. It says.
  73. You're not oxygen, you're not water.
  74. You can't come through or it just kind of knows
  75. that you might not be water oxygen, but you are
  76. healthy for me.
  77. So I need to let you in because I need
  78. you to help me do a job.
  79. So it's kind of like I've said before, like the
  80. security guard.
  81. It says You can come.
  82. You can, or like a crossing guard.
  83. You can cross the street not yet, because it's not
  84. safe. These are found in both types, but let's take
  85. a look at where the cell membrane is on a
  86. plant cell.
  87. This rectangular cell is the plant cell, and the black
  88. line that's around here is the cell membrane.
  89. You'll notice, though, that the plant cell has a PCI
  90. looking color or just peachy looking color around the cell
  91. membrane, because that as we know as our cell wall
  92. compared to our animal cell, it only has a black
  93. outline around it.
  94. That's because of plant cell on.
  95. Lee has a cell membrane, so now let's figure out
  96. what is the cell wall.
  97. So the cell walls we just found out is Onley,
  98. located in plants.
  99. Now the cell wall is the outside of the cell
  100. membrane, and it gives this cell it's extra shape.
  101. It's also giving it support, so plants need support in
  102. order to grow remember the plant.
  103. I planted a long time go and then the wind
  104. to kind of broke the stem.
  105. Well, that whole plant died.
  106. It didn't have the support it needed for growth anymore
  107. because something was broken.
  108. And more than likely, multiple cell walls were broken throughout
  109. my plan.
  110. So we kind of lost the support.
  111. Wind plants have a support of cell wall.
  112. They can grow strong and tall.
  113. So it is vital that a plant cell has a
  114. cell wall again.
  115. So so we can see a little bit clearer again.
  116. The cell wall is the outer part of a plant
  117. cell and it is on this diagram this orangish color
  118. and that's on Lee found in plant cells.
  119. Chloroplasts are also the only thing found in plant cells.
  120. They contain chlorophyll.
  121. Floor feels what gives plants.
  122. That green pigment that we see on allows for photosynthesis
  123. to occur.
  124. So chloroplast are the green ovals that are all scattered
  125. throughout the planet.
  126. There are gonna be multiple chloroplast within a plant.
  127. So now an animal cell doesn't have chloroplasts because not
  128. all animals or green.
  129. So if an animal is green, well, they have something
  130. in them that makes them green, but a bear is
  131. not going to have four.
  132. Blast. A fish is not going to have core plus
  133. because animals are made differently.
  134. We have other things that help us be supportive or
  135. help with our skin color.
  136. We don't need Corp last Let's take a look at
  137. a three D model of a cell, not cells or
  138. not flat at all.
  139. They're actually all three d.
  140. Let me see.
  141. Diagrams and pictures were only seeing what's called a cross
  142. sections. We're just seeing a small part of it.
  143. So let's take a look.
  144. Here we have our some are animal cell.
  145. This blue part here is actually the nucleus, and it
  146. is found right in the center.
  147. The cytoplasm is the light pink that's kind of shaded
  148. in on the whole thing.
  149. Our cell membrane here is the whole entire brown part,
  150. so it's not just this thin line.
  151. It's pretty much the entire outer coating.
  152. And here you can see the red circles are vac
  153. U als, which is where food and water is stored.
  154. We're going to take a look now at an animal
  155. cell, and this animal cell is not colorful Um, And
  156. one more thing is there's this word here.
  157. It's called a mitochondria.
  158. It's like my favorite word in the cell.
  159. That and there's another one called Indo Plasmid particular.
  160. You don't have to know those yet, so I know
  161. that's labeled here and I didn't say anything about it.
  162. That's because we don't need to know what its purpose
  163. is right now.
  164. So let's take a look now at the plant.
  165. So So here we have our plant cell.
  166. So as you can see, it's a three d model.
  167. This one reminds me of like a big slice of
  168. bread. The view of it.
  169. So again, you have our nucleus found within the center.
  170. You have your chloroplasts, which are over here.
  171. You have a cell wall, which is the outer coating
  172. of the whole cell, and then you have our cell
  173. membrane which got cut off.
  174. Here you have our cell membrane, which is the inside
  175. square again.
  176. You have the mitochondria, which we don't have to know
  177. when you have a huge vacuole, because plants thrive on
  178. water and sunlight.
  179. So we need to make sure we're storing a lot
  180. of food and nutrients for the plant in that vacuole.
  181. Did you get to Now go and complete the sort
  182. and match the words with the definition.
  183. Don't forget to send a screenshot of it.
  184. When you're done, you can upload it to the school
  185. Aji Media album or you consent to me in an
  186. email. But I look Flora to see all of your
  187. hard work and matching the definitions by.
