00:00 - 00:03
breaking news upcoming nurse finds out what kind of leader
00:03 - 00:05
she truly is and this news break, we are going
00:05 - 00:06
to discuss what Hannah says.
00:06 - 00:10
The leader is Hannah's leadership style, the future leadership traits
00:11 - 00:13
that Hannah hopes to possess and Hannah self care.
00:14 - 00:16
So the first thing that we're gonna discuss is what
00:16 - 00:16
is a leader.
00:17 - 00:20
A leader is someone who communicates and influences a group
00:20 - 00:23
of people to work towards a common goal by encouraging
00:23 - 00:26
equal participation in collaboration from all members of the group.
00:27 - 00:30
So a good leader has certain skills and abilities.
00:30 - 00:33
I think some important skills and abilities is the ability
00:33 - 00:35
to influence and the ability to communicate.
00:37 - 00:40
A leader must be able to influence members of the
00:40 - 00:43
group and our situation in order to achieve the goals
00:43 - 00:47
that are set by the group, the leader must also
00:47 - 00:48
be able to communicate.
00:50 - 00:52
The leader has to be able to communicate to the
00:52 - 00:55
group, what the goals for the group are and what
00:55 - 00:56
age group member needs to do in order to achieve
00:57 - 01:00
these goals according to Oios happening grimly.
01:01 - 01:03
Even if you can influence and adapt to certain situations,
01:04 - 01:08
if you cannot communicate effectively, the goal will probably not
01:08 - 01:09
be able to be met.
01:12 - 01:15
So next we're going to discuss my leadership style.
01:17 - 01:20
So the leadership that I felt the best suited me
01:20 - 01:21
was a democratic leadership.
01:22 - 01:27
A democratic leadership is where a team makes decisions together,
01:28 - 01:30
the leaders highly involved with the group.
01:30 - 01:34
Um This allows for creativity of the group members and
01:34 - 01:37
it allows for all the group members to work together
01:37 - 01:43
flexibly. And it also um increases production and also increases
01:43 - 01:47
motivation to get the job done, although it does take
01:47 - 01:49
longer to make decisions because each of the group members
01:50 - 01:51
are involved in the decision making process.
01:52 - 01:55
The at the end, the result is that all the
01:56 - 01:58
group members support the decision, which I felt was very
01:58 - 02:02
important. So why does this type of leadership suit me?
02:03 - 02:05
I think this type of leadership suits me because I
02:05 - 02:06
like to have different perspectives.
02:07 - 02:09
If you allow for each of the group members to
02:10 - 02:12
be flexible and creative and come up with their own
02:12 - 02:15
ideas, you get to see different perspectives and different ideas
02:15 - 02:18
and it's just allows for like broader horizons, you can
02:19 - 02:19
do more with that.
02:20 - 02:23
And then I also think that um, importance of the
02:24 - 02:26
team, like working as a team is important and I
02:26 - 02:29
don't think that one person should have complete power over
02:29 - 02:31
everyone. I think everyone should have a say in things
02:32 - 02:34
and I think that every team member is important as
02:34 - 02:36
well. Like if you think about a ceo of a
02:36 - 02:39
business or Janet over business, they both do jobs that
02:39 - 02:41
help the company run.
02:41 - 02:42
And I think that everybody's voice is important.
02:45 - 02:47
So now I'm going to discuss the leadership characteristics that
02:47 - 02:48
I believe that I possess.
02:48 - 02:51
I feel like I really have a driving initiative to
02:51 - 02:51
get work done.
02:52 - 02:54
I'm flexible to ever changing situations.
02:54 - 02:58
I'm creative, open minded to different ideas, I'm trustworthy and
02:59 - 03:01
I'm honest and I always persevering, even if it gets
03:01 - 03:05
hard, I think that this is very fitting for the
03:05 - 03:09
democratic leadership style because being in democratic leadership, you have
03:09 - 03:11
to be open minded to everyone's ideas.
03:11 - 03:14
You have to be flexible to change the situation because
03:14 - 03:15
everyone's different.
03:16 - 03:18
You also have to have that drive an initiative to
03:18 - 03:19
get the job done and reach that goal.
03:20 - 03:21
And then you also have to be able to instill
03:21 - 03:22
that in other people.
03:23 - 03:25
And also think that's very important as a leader that
03:26 - 03:30
especially democratic leader where everybody's having their own, that is
03:30 - 03:32
that they trust you and they think that you're going
03:33 - 03:35
to be honest with them about how to get the
03:35 - 03:39
job done stuff and then also perseverance because there's gonna
03:39 - 03:42
be conflict and there's going to be hiccups in the
03:42 - 03:43
road, so you definitely have to be able to persevere
03:44 - 03:47
through the hard times and also instill that in your
03:47 - 03:48
group as well.
03:50 - 03:54
So next I want to talk about my temperament.
03:56 - 03:59
So after taking the tests, I found out that I
03:59 - 04:03
was a guardian, um Guardians are dedicated to serving their
04:04 - 04:05
dependable and helpful.
04:05 - 04:08
They're hardworking, practical down to earth.
04:09 - 04:13
They have great cooperation skills, they are meticulous and they're
04:13 - 04:17
disciplined. Guardians are often very serious about their duties and
04:17 - 04:22
responsibilities. They take pride in being dependable and guardians will
04:22 - 04:24
have or feel like they have a duty to serve
04:25 - 04:29
and preserve our most important social institutions, They use all
04:29 - 04:32
their skills and they help keep things running smoothly.
04:33 - 04:36
Um, Guardians also believe that teamwork is a big part
04:36 - 04:39
of keeping things running smoothly and that it's very important
04:40 - 04:41
to have teamwork to get the job done.
04:41 - 04:46
Rock, I think that temperament fits well into the democratic
04:47 - 04:51
leadership because they have to be um dedicated to serving
04:51 - 04:54
to be, you know, a leader of a democratic group.
04:54 - 04:56
Um They also have to be able to cooperate of
04:56 - 04:58
course, if they're a democratic group, they're going to be
04:59 - 05:03
asking for other people's opinions and have to be able
05:03 - 05:05
to cooperate with other people that aren't necessarily like them
05:05 - 05:06
in order to make the decision.
05:07 - 05:09
They also have to be like disciplined, like they have
05:09 - 05:11
to know what does this group have to do in
05:12 - 05:14
order to get the job done.
05:14 - 05:17
And they also have to be like down to earth,
05:17 - 05:19
easy to talk to you like as a democratic leader,
05:20 - 05:22
you're going to have to be able to talk to
05:22 - 05:24
everyone, you're not just telling everyone what to do, you're
05:24 - 05:26
getting everyone's ideas and what you think will work the
05:26 - 05:27
best for the group.
05:28 - 05:31
And then also practical like being able to know like
05:31 - 05:34
if we do this it is will that work towards
05:35 - 05:37
our goal or like no that will not work and
05:37 - 05:39
having to be able to like make a decision as
05:40 - 05:42
a group and be practical in the decision making process.
05:45 - 05:49
And I think also dedicated to serving like democratic leader
05:49 - 05:51
is dedicated to serving the group.
05:51 - 05:54
You know making, helping make decisions or you know collectively
05:55 - 05:57
getting everyone's ideas to make the best decisions for the
05:57 - 06:00
group and just dedicated to doing the best they can
06:00 - 06:02
to help that group and help that group reach their
06:02 - 06:06
goal. So next thing I'm going to discuss is future
06:06 - 06:08
leadership traits that I hope to possess.
06:09 - 06:11
Um I want to have increased ability to handle stress.
06:12 - 06:14
I want to be able to be assertive and knock
06:15 - 06:15
them off as aggressive.
06:16 - 06:19
I want to increase my self awareness, I want to
06:19 - 06:23
be able to delegate task effectively and I want to
06:23 - 06:24
also increase my communication skills.
06:27 - 06:29
So now I'm going to talk about self awareness.
06:29 - 06:32
I think it's really important that a leader is self
06:32 - 06:35
aware and to ensure that they're treating the members of
06:35 - 06:38
the group fairly, listen to everyone's ideas fairly now.
06:38 - 06:41
Also need to ensure that their actions are towards the
06:41 - 06:43
betterment of the group and not for themselves.
06:43 - 06:46
Um Leaders need to be assertive but not aggressive.
06:47 - 06:50
If leaders are aggressive, this can decrease productivity and increased
06:50 - 06:52
fear in the group and the group members won't feel
06:53 - 06:56
like they can express their ideas and that they'll feel
06:56 - 06:58
like the leader is not open to different ideas.
06:59 - 07:01
The leader also needs to be able to manage stress.
07:02 - 07:04
They're going to have multiple tasks to manage and they're
07:04 - 07:06
also gonna have multiple people they're managing and they're also
07:07 - 07:08
hearing different ideas from everyone.
07:08 - 07:10
So they need to take all the those ideas into
07:10 - 07:15
consideration and come up with a solution that is best
07:16 - 07:16
for the group.
07:18 - 07:20
So now I'm going to talk about delegation.
07:21 - 07:24
Um Leaders need to delegate task appropriately to the right
07:25 - 07:26
team members and the team member that will get the
07:26 - 07:28
job done the most efficiently.
07:29 - 07:31
Um Leaders also need to be able to communicate you
07:31 - 07:33
know they have to be able to communicate the goals
07:34 - 07:34
to the group.
07:35 - 07:37
They also need to be able to communicate tasks that
07:37 - 07:39
need to be done in order to achieve the goals.
07:40 - 07:42
They also need to know like tell who's going to
07:42 - 07:45
do those tasks and then just like talking about what
07:45 - 07:48
is the best solution where everyone's ideas are part of
07:48 - 07:51
the solution to the problem or part of the solution
07:51 - 07:52
working towards the goal.
07:54 - 07:56
So now I'm going to talk about my self care,
07:57 - 08:01
so after doing myself care assessment, I really realized that
08:01 - 08:03
don't take enough time for myself and for my self
08:03 - 08:06
care and then sometimes I feel guilty for taking time
08:06 - 08:09
for myself to care for myself and there's a lot
08:09 - 08:11
of areas that I really need to improve in.
08:11 - 08:15
So first I'm going to talk about physical, so I
08:16 - 08:18
actually do well and like I do eat three meals
08:18 - 08:20
a day, I do take time off of work when
08:20 - 08:23
I'm sick, do try to get enough sleep and I
08:23 - 08:25
usually do and I do try to involve myself in
08:26 - 08:27
physical activities that I find fun.
08:28 - 08:30
The areas that I need to improve in is that
08:30 - 08:32
I really do need to do better, eating healthy.
08:32 - 08:36
I don't really like watch what I eat, just, you
08:36 - 08:36
know, whatever I want.
08:37 - 08:38
Um I need to exercise more regularly.
08:39 - 08:40
I don't exercise on a regular basis.
08:41 - 08:43
Um I need to take more time for physical relaxation,
08:44 - 08:45
like taking a bath or something like that.
08:46 - 08:47
And then I also need to give myself time for
08:47 - 08:50
a vacation, especially take some breaks from like school work
08:51 - 08:52
and I don't usually do that.
08:53 - 08:56
So nominees gets my psychological self care.
08:57 - 08:59
So I do really well, like being aware of my
08:59 - 08:59
thoughts and feelings.
09:00 - 09:04
Um Now there's some, there's many areas I need to
09:04 - 09:04
work on as well.
09:04 - 09:06
I do need to like take more time to do
09:06 - 09:06
things enjoy.
09:07 - 09:09
I love to read books but I don't give myself
09:10 - 09:12
enough time and I feel guilty because I've taken time
09:12 - 09:13
away from my school work.
09:13 - 09:15
So that's one of the issues I have.
09:15 - 09:18
Um I need to take a break from technology, I'm
09:18 - 09:21
on my computer and on my phone so much and
09:21 - 09:22
I really need to take a break from that and
09:22 - 09:25
just like get a get a good book or like
09:25 - 09:27
just take some time to take a bath and just
09:27 - 09:28
be away from all that because that is stressful.
09:29 - 09:31
I'm also need to do better stress management.
09:31 - 09:33
I really just like let things build up and get
09:33 - 09:36
very overwhelmed so there's definitely some work I can do
09:36 - 09:38
in that area and then managing the amount of responsibilities
09:38 - 09:40
I have at a given time, I have a really
09:40 - 09:43
hard time saying no two people, so that is sort
09:44 - 09:45
of the reason for that and I'm sure that would
09:45 - 09:47
help my stress levels if I was able to say
09:47 - 09:52
no um spiritual I do well and like I feel
09:52 - 09:55
a spiritual connection and I do pray especially when I
09:55 - 09:58
feel really stressed overwhelmed that's something that feels like really
09:58 - 09:58
helps me.
09:59 - 10:01
I do know what it's like important to me and
10:02 - 10:04
you know I have certain values that I know that
10:05 - 10:08
I have and also like appreciate when I'm feeling really
10:08 - 10:13
optimistic and happy areas that need improvement would be I
10:13 - 10:15
need a lot of time for reflection especially if it
10:15 - 10:17
was like really hard clinical day and it was just
10:18 - 10:21
kind of very emotional just having time after that just
10:21 - 10:22
to relax and reflect on my day.
10:23 - 10:25
Um I need to spend more time in nature because
10:25 - 10:29
nature is very calming and it doesn't give you like
10:29 - 10:31
a spiritual feeling in the spirit actual connection.
10:31 - 10:32
So I definitely need to do that.
10:33 - 10:36
Um I need to meditate more, which I used to
10:36 - 10:37
do because I used to do yoga a lot and
10:37 - 10:39
I definitely that's definitely something that I should get more
10:40 - 10:42
into again and I need to be more aware of
10:43 - 10:46
like non material items, so focused on like all the
10:47 - 10:49
social media and stuff like that, that I don't even
10:49 - 10:50
take time to think about stuff like that.
10:52 - 10:55
So now I'm going to discuss my emotional um areas
10:55 - 10:57
I do well in as I do spend a lot
10:58 - 11:00
of time With my friends and I do you stay
11:01 - 11:02
in contact from 11 and I spent time with my
11:02 - 11:04
loved ones as well, which is very important to me.
11:05 - 11:05
I love my family.
11:05 - 11:07
Family is one of the biggest things in my life.
11:08 - 11:10
Um I do activities that I enjoy.
11:10 - 11:11
Try to read a book.
11:12 - 11:13
I try to give myself some time, although I do
11:14 - 11:16
feel guilty sometimes, but I feel like that's something that,
11:16 - 11:19
so I do well sometimes, but other times I need
11:20 - 11:22
to just not feel guilty about it and just do
11:22 - 11:26
it. Of course, um, areas that need improvement are giving
11:26 - 11:28
myself time to process my emotions.
11:28 - 11:31
I'll usually let my emotions really build up before I
11:31 - 11:33
reflect on them and I really need to like give
11:33 - 11:35
myself time and then they wouldn't build up and then
11:35 - 11:38
I wouldn't feel so stressed and then also loving myself.
11:38 - 11:40
I'm very hard on myself, especially with grades and stuff
11:41 - 11:42
and I feel like if I don't make the grade
11:43 - 11:44
I want that, I'm not successful and I'm not a
11:44 - 11:47
good student and I definitely can improve on that and
11:47 - 11:50
just let myself for who I am and appreciate all
11:50 - 11:52
my good characteristics that I have
