00:02 - 00:04
Hi, my name is Kyla.
00:04 - 00:06
And today I'm going to be talking to you about
00:06 - 00:10
my training program that X as a bridge from computer
00:11 - 00:15
training to on the floor selling for big sales company.
00:17 - 00:20
So a little bit about myself, I have worked in
00:20 - 00:22
a big sales company for about a year now as
00:22 - 00:22
a sales consultant.
00:23 - 00:28
And I've also been a student in Northwestern Masters of
00:29 - 00:31
Science and Communication program here.
00:31 - 00:35
I've been learning different communication methods that help with developing
00:36 - 00:40
training programs for companies like the one I work with
00:41 - 00:49
now the training I am trying to implement benefits, new
00:49 - 00:50
sales consultant.
00:50 - 00:53
So new hires that are in my current position and
00:54 - 00:55
the people who be teaching it would be the veterans
00:56 - 00:57
and most of the new hires themselves.
00:58 - 01:03
The problem I'm trying to solve is the gap in
01:03 - 01:07
training. So at our company all training happens on the
01:08 - 01:08
computer and boom.
01:09 - 01:10
You're on the floor selling and that is a huge
01:11 - 01:11
slap in the face.
01:12 - 01:14
I want to kind of ease our way in there
01:14 - 01:17
like some training wheels on a bike before we just
01:17 - 01:18
hop right on the two wheeler.
01:22 - 01:23
The earliest that we're going to offer.
01:23 - 01:25
This program is immediately after computer training.
01:26 - 01:28
So after the two weeks of mandatory computer training, we're
01:29 - 01:31
gonna jump right into that on the floor training and
01:32 - 01:34
it's only another two weeks, but it keeps you on
01:34 - 01:36
the floor and it gets you comfortable selling.
01:37 - 01:41
This training takes place at the store that the new
01:41 - 01:43
representative was hired.
01:43 - 01:46
Ex So there's no extra travel, no extra weight.
01:47 - 01:52
Now this train is extremely important because a computer simulation
01:53 - 01:54
doesn't teach you how to sell.
01:55 - 01:57
In fact, it barely teaches you how to use the
01:57 - 01:58
systems that we use to sell.
01:59 - 02:01
The best way to learn how to do selling is
02:01 - 02:02
to try selling yourself.
02:03 - 02:08
So this program helps new hires to get more comfortable
02:08 - 02:10
on the sales floor so that they can get to
02:10 - 02:13
a point where they do not need the assistance of
02:13 - 02:16
a veteran or even their store manager that they're comfortable
02:16 - 02:20
selling products themselves and coming back and celebrating those new
02:20 - 02:25
sales. Most importantly, it gets uncomfortable talking with customers and
02:26 - 02:29
can prepare them to move from different store locations and
02:29 - 02:31
continue to develop in their career.
02:32 - 02:38
Yeah, the best part about this training program is there
02:38 - 02:41
is no extra effort.
02:42 - 02:46
In fact, it provides feedback for something that you would
02:46 - 02:48
have been doing anyway, which is jumping onto the sales
02:48 - 02:50
floor after being on that computer for so long.
02:52 - 02:56
So my hope is that this training helps our new
02:56 - 02:59
hires to get more comfortable being the sales representatives that
02:59 - 03:00
they were hired to be.
03:01 - 03:02
Oh well.
