00:00 - 00:01
Okay guys.
00:01 - 00:03
So, I left off on my prevention right before I
00:04 - 00:04
got into my research.
00:06 - 00:10
So, according to ruin this article proposes that self control
00:10 - 00:17
paradigm may be linked, may link existing CBT methods for
00:18 - 00:22
Children and may provide guidelines for determining the type of
00:23 - 00:27
self controlled technique best suited to each child, based both
00:28 - 00:32
on his or her developmental stage and specific behavior problem
00:33 - 00:37
using CBT to help find what treatment will work best
00:37 - 00:40
for each child in creating activities based on those findings.
00:41 - 00:45
To help Children with self control is a potential way
00:45 - 00:49
to prevent low self control, which in turn can help
00:49 - 00:52
the on can help with the onset of criminal behavior
00:53 - 00:53
and substance use.
00:54 - 00:57
So, I wanted to make sure that I tied the
00:57 - 01:04
the CBT methods into my prevention program because it has
01:04 - 01:08
been shown to help with self control and determining what
01:08 - 01:12
type of activities can help Children with self control.
01:13 - 01:17
And um, we know that self control has a lot
01:18 - 01:22
to do with substance use disorder and beginning to use
01:22 - 01:26
substances and not being able to to control substance use
01:26 - 01:26
if you are using.
01:27 - 01:29
So this is a big thing that I wanted to
01:29 - 01:32
incorporate in my prevention program and I feel that it
01:33 - 01:34
would make a big difference.
01:35 - 01:39
So let's look at the next slide which is advocate
01:40 - 01:44
according to Springer Programs, found to be most effective in
01:44 - 01:45
reducing substance use.
01:45 - 01:49
Were those that offered strong behavioral life skill development, content
01:50 - 01:55
emphasized team building and interpersonal delivery methods emphasize and introspective
01:55 - 01:58
learning approaches focusing on self reflection.
01:59 - 02:04
This research provides prevention programs, proves prevention programs for adolescents
02:05 - 02:08
does make a difference and reduce substance use.
02:09 - 02:12
So I wanted to make sure I've found research that
02:13 - 02:16
proved that this type of program can make a difference
02:17 - 02:23
and can decrease substance use later on in the adolescent's
02:23 - 02:28
life. So let's look at more research when deciding my
02:28 - 02:28
prevention strategy.
02:29 - 02:32
I wanted to choose something that would be used according
02:33 - 02:33
to Myron phillips.
02:34 - 02:38
When adolescents is when when the adolescent was confronted with
02:38 - 02:43
lonesome nous helplessness and hopelessness, desperation results in a search
02:44 - 02:47
for a safe place ensues This research helps show safe
02:48 - 02:50
centers will be used and sought out by adolescents.
02:51 - 02:56
Um so according to this research, these adolescents are already
02:57 - 03:01
looking for a place like what my prevention strategy is
03:01 - 03:05
suggesting. Um so I feel like it will be used
03:06 - 03:10
and the adolescents um will come there and will enjoy
03:10 - 03:12
it there because it will help them not feel lonely
03:13 - 03:16
and not feel helpless, not feel hopeless because they have
03:16 - 03:17
counselors to talk to, they have peers.
03:18 - 03:22
Um They have, you know, activities and team building things
03:22 - 03:24
that help them know that they're not alone and they
03:24 - 03:26
can process through things with our counselors.
03:30 - 03:31
Let's look at another research side.
03:32 - 03:36
According to Kellyanne Anderson, adolescents reported, they went to the
03:36 - 03:38
youth program to stay off the streets.
03:39 - 03:43
The adolescents also reported they felt secure while participating in
03:43 - 03:44
structured activities.
03:45 - 03:48
This article states having an opportunity to engage in activities
03:49 - 03:53
and socialize with peers without the fear of violence is
03:53 - 03:56
important to these adolescents and it may have a positive
03:57 - 03:57
influence on their development.
03:59 - 04:04
So offering these safe centers for Children to go to
04:04 - 04:08
and engaging in these team building activities and having piers
04:08 - 04:11
around them um, is actually being sought out by these
04:12 - 04:16
adolescents and they won't have any fear of violence from
04:16 - 04:17
those around them.
04:18 - 04:20
Um, they won't have any peer pressure to do negative
04:20 - 04:22
things by those around them.
04:23 - 04:26
And I stated in this research, um, it can have
04:26 - 04:29
a positive influence on their development, which is all that
04:29 - 04:30
we want for our youth.
04:33 - 04:34
So that's the research.
04:35 - 04:36
Now, let's look at the application.
04:37 - 04:41
This type of prevention strategy could easily be implemented among
04:41 - 04:46
developed regions, grants and government assistance could help programs run
04:46 - 04:48
and offer safe places for their communities.
04:49 - 04:52
Youth, it would be difficult to implement this prevention strategy
04:53 - 04:54
and underdeveloped regions because of money.
04:55 - 04:58
Um so as I stated, whenever I first talked about
04:58 - 05:01
my prevention program, is that I really wanted it to
05:01 - 05:05
be somewhat free to the Children that were coming there
05:05 - 05:09
because of these circumstances and situations that most of them
05:09 - 05:11
are coming from and not having the money to go
05:11 - 05:14
there. Um I wanted to make this as open as
05:14 - 05:15
possible to the Children.
05:15 - 05:17
Um it's not the Children's fault if they don't have
05:17 - 05:18
money if the families don't have money.
05:19 - 05:22
Um, so getting these grants and government assistance to help
05:22 - 05:25
these programs run and stay open and, you know, pay
05:25 - 05:28
their employees and counselors is a really big thing.
05:28 - 05:33
So in underdeveloped countries and regions, um where money maybe
05:34 - 05:37
more um restricted and scarce would be hard to develop
05:38 - 05:39
a program like this.
05:39 - 05:44
But I feel developing a prevention program like this and
05:44 - 05:47
developing these safe centers will save more money in the
05:47 - 05:51
long run because you will have less people according to
05:51 - 05:55
research that are using substances and in jail and stealing
05:57 - 05:59
and every using taxpayer dollars because you have to pay
06:00 - 06:01
for the people that are in jail, which most of
06:02 - 06:04
them are in jail because of substance use or dealing
06:05 - 06:07
drugs, possession of drugs, manufacturing drugs.
06:08 - 06:11
So saving all that money that way by spending it
06:11 - 06:15
now on this safe center prevention program, I feel is
06:15 - 06:19
a very positive way to spend our money.
06:20 - 06:22
So that's the application to the real world.
06:23 - 06:26
And lastly, this is my list of references.
06:27 - 06:30
I thank you guys for viewing and taking the time
06:31 - 06:35
out of your day to listen, listen over my TMP
06:35 - 06:37
project and by.
