00:00 - 00:02
Hi everybody at Escanaba Hospice.
00:02 - 00:06
Loren Bouchard here to talk to you about your patient experience scores
00:06 - 00:08
for december. Let's have a look,
00:08 - 00:13
100%, 2 months in a row. You guys great work.
00:13 - 00:18
Uh just so nice to see that we had three surveys returned for the month of December.
00:18 - 00:21
Um which we'd like a little bit more than that.
00:21 - 00:26
Usually though you guys are just around five, so you don't have super high rates.
00:26 - 00:27
Um so really
00:28 - 00:33
great though, just to see this and if you look at the distribution responses, um,
00:33 - 00:36
you can see that all three of them gave you 100%.
00:36 - 00:37
They gave you tens.
00:37 - 00:43
So we want them to choose a nine or a 10 and they all chose a 10 for you guys.
00:44 - 00:47
This next slide shows all of our Ministry of
00:47 - 00:50
Hospice and you can see where you fall there.
00:50 - 00:51
Uh, let's see,
00:53 - 00:55
We're at 91.67.
00:55 - 00:59
Um, just because we had that little drop in October,
00:59 - 01:02
this is from October to end of December so far, so year to date.
01:03 - 01:06
And you will see you guys are meeting your target really highly.
01:06 - 01:13
And then you have helped contribute to our overall target of 91.91.
01:13 - 01:19
The target for our ministry is 89,. So we are exceeding that target as well.
01:19 - 01:22
And you have definitely helped helped us reach that.
01:23 - 01:26
The greatest increases you can see here trouble with constipation,
01:26 - 01:28
identifying pain meds, side effects.
01:28 - 01:30
Get help for trouble breathing,
01:30 - 01:32
kept informed about care and then giving
01:32 - 01:35
confusing information about care was at 100%.
01:35 - 01:38
The greatest decreases get as much help with pain is needed.
01:38 - 01:43
Drop down a little bit and then train for helpless restlessness and agitation.
01:43 - 01:46
And we want to make sure we're using our education
01:46 - 01:49
on restlessness and agitation and letting our families know,
01:49 - 01:51
you know that we're going to talk from it,
01:51 - 01:54
show them the hand out and then put it in the binder
01:55 - 01:57
or the folder. So they know that it's there.
01:57 - 02:00
You know if they arise such an issue that they
02:00 - 02:04
need more um a refresh of education when it happens.
02:04 - 02:08
Top focus items number one get as much help with pain as needed.
02:08 - 02:11
That is number one in Escanaba hospice region
02:12 - 02:17
Help as soon as needed. # two and then info of if and when to give pain meds.
02:17 - 02:19
So it's good to keep those in the back of your mind to understand
02:20 - 02:24
um what your patients and families really care the most
02:24 - 02:27
about and that will impact their experience the most.
02:28 - 02:31
So this month we're talking about help as soon as needed.
02:31 - 02:33
Just setting an expectation that that admission is
02:33 - 02:37
really important that they can get help 24/7,
02:37 - 02:41
you know that they have our phone number, how that process works.
02:41 - 02:47
Um you know that we you know whether it's we do virtual care third shift or that we
02:48 - 02:50
um can come out to the house or not.
02:50 - 02:51
You know,
02:51 - 02:53
we really need to set that expectation so they understand what's
02:53 - 02:56
what what could happen and what kind of support they will receive
02:57 - 03:01
um how long it may take. You know we want to set those expectations too.
03:01 - 03:06
You know it's certainly not immediate and that um you know we have maybe if
03:06 - 03:11
we have one clinician working that shift that they could be at another house.
03:11 - 03:13
So you know it just depends on what's happening
03:14 - 03:17
but we have people to help them on their phones or things like that,
03:18 - 03:19
maintain
03:19 - 03:24
a calm pace, an empathetic tone when speaking to patients and families.
03:24 - 03:30
Um they need to feel valued individually um and that their calls are so important.
03:30 - 03:34
So you know if a situation is viewed as non emergent in the eyes of the office
03:34 - 03:38
it could still be an emergency in the eyes of the patient and family.
03:38 - 03:39
So explaining
03:40 - 03:40
um
03:41 - 03:44
to the patient and family how their situation will be handled,
03:44 - 03:46
walk alongside them,
03:46 - 03:49
just help with that support some kind of reiterating what we talked about
03:50 - 03:51
if appropriate.
03:51 - 03:53
We may do a video visit and that's okay
03:53 - 03:57
you know and it is helping them understand how helpful
03:57 - 04:00
that is looking at video visits as a very big
04:00 - 04:04
positive thing because it's like an additional layer of help
04:04 - 04:08
um that we can offer, we can put eyes on the patient that way,
04:08 - 04:10
you know if we can't bring someone out
04:10 - 04:13
here's what we can do and so and it could be just much more timely
04:15 - 04:18
last but not least comments, 100% positive comments,
04:18 - 04:22
couple call outs for Kerry and Andrea great job.
04:22 - 04:25
Um and I'll let you pause the screen so you can read those comments
04:26 - 04:27
and
04:27 - 04:32
that is it for us today. I want to thank you all for your great work in Escanaba.
04:32 - 04:34
Um have a safe
04:34 - 04:37
january and we will see you in february to talk
04:37 - 04:40
some more and hopefully see another 100 in the books.
04:40 - 04:44
Okay? Thanks for all you do for your patients and families. Everyone have a good day.
04:44 - 04:44
Bye bye.
