  1. Hello. My name is Brianna Lynton and now we'll be
  2. presenting my innovation project video proposal, collaborating in healthcare using
  3. the fever coach mobile app influenza, also known as the
  4. flu, is amongst the most critical health and social problems
  5. that affects millions of people around the world.
  6. Today. influenza is considered to be both a very common
  7. and very infectious viral infection in the United States flu
  8. season encouraged during the fall and winter season.
  9. influenza is most significant virus that mainly attacks the respiratory
  10. system and affects both adults and Children.
  11. Although influence it can be serious in both adults and
  12. Children, it is important to discuss influenza in the pediatric
  13. population because of their vulnerability.
  14. influenza in the pediatric population is a great challenge because
  15. they are not diagnosed properly.
  16. They will not receive adequate treatment ultimately causing some very
  17. health complications.
  18. False negative results is a common reason that pediatric patients
  19. can be misdiagnosed and left untreated.
  20. The purpose of this presentation is to review the history
  21. of the clinical problem of diagnosing influence in the pediatric
  22. population and examined literature, which of course need to implement
  23. a clinical change.
  24. So just to discuss a little background influenza, it's a
  25. human virus that was first discovered during the Second World
  26. War in 1930.
  27. Um the influenza pandemic led to death of millions of
  28. people. The first vaccine was developed around 1940 and there
  29. are three types of influenza, but we mainly focus on
  30. influenza type a and type b.
  31. So influenza is an airborne disease that's making it highly
  32. contagious. The incubation period reversed the period at which a
  33. disease causing microorganisms into the body and the time that
  34. symptoms manifest The incubation period for influenza is between one
  35. and 4 days.
  36. If a person infected with influenza coughs or sneezes in
  37. a person inhales the air with the virus one gets
  38. infected being that the energy point.
  39. influenza is to the eyes, nose and mouth church are
  40. more likely to be infected with influence virus because of
  41. the way they conduct both oral and physical contact in
  42. the way in which the virus spreads from individual to
  43. individual. One of the greatest worries of parents is when
  44. the Children becomes sick, Children are prone to touch their
  45. faces nose, mouth, eyes.
  46. Very often, Children are also very prone to placing objects
  47. in their mouth and because of this, Children are more
  48. commonly affected due to their mechanisms of oral and physical
  49. contact. In the way the virus spreads the proper diagnosis
  50. of influenza is an important determinant of the treatment process
  51. in the pediatric population.
  52. The statistics on Children affected by influenza is unevenly distributed
  53. according to the center of Disease control and prevention, also
  54. known as the C.
  55. D. C.
  56. The estimated number of Children below five years old who
  57. have been hospitalized because of influenza is between 6000 and
  58. 26,000 across the United States.
  59. Each year, Children less than five years of age have
  60. more severe outcomes than those older than five, including adults.
  61. This is a high number of cases among Children and
  62. it is a problem that needs proper medical intervention.
  63. influenza virus is highly contagious and it can spread very
  64. fast leading to a high number of cases.
  65. As previously stated, it has to be noted that Children
  66. are very interactive and that's for most.
  67. The wide spread of influenza.
  68. Children below five years old have a weaker immune system
  69. and attacked by the flu virus can be severe, leading
  70. to the death of Children or hospitalization.
  71. Thus it is fundamental to create awareness about the impact
  72. of influenza on Children and how to properly test for
  73. the virus so that pediatric patients can receive proper treatment
  74. and reduce the spread of the virus.
  75. The flu season is appeared where the cases of flu
  76. recorded is the highest in the United States.
  77. The flu season is between the month of october in
  78. March and the peak for flu season is in the
  79. month of december to the month of february.
  80. influenza has resulted in nine million to 45 million illnesses.
  81. 140,000, hospitalizations and approx 12,000 to 61,000 deaths per year.
  82. The number of Children under the age of five years
  83. old who have contacted influenza.
  84. The flu season from 2019, 2020 was ready at 94.1
  85. per 100,000 Children, which is higher than the cases reported
  86. in the 2017 to 2018 flu season.
  87. During the flu season of 2019, 166 Children lost their
  88. lives due to contracting the influence of virus.
  89. According to the CDC, it is evident that pediatric flu
  90. is a health challenge that needs to be addressed, reduce
  91. the cause of death.
  92. Her cases of death.
  93. Laboratory results indicated that 75% of the influence associated deaths
  94. among Children under five years old in the 2019 through
  95. 2020 flu season was caused by type B influenza virus.
  96. The need for accurate diagnosis.
  97. influenza among Children is important because of the prevailing of
  98. the pediatric cases.
  99. The prevalence of influence, seasonal incident is approximately between 5%
  100. and 20%.
  101. The prevalence of influence among the general population is between
  102. 3-11.3%. The disease prevalence is at 9.3 in the pediatric
  103. population. The prevalence of influence in the pediatric population implies
  104. that accurate diagnosis is important because it might impact a
  105. significant portion of the general population's health outcome.
  106. It can also impact the success rate of the treatment
  107. of Children suffering from influenza.
  108. Okay. The amount of cases that rise for food during
  109. the winter and cold seasons can be due to the
  110. fact that most people stand doors for the purpose of
  111. gaining warmth.
  112. Furthermore, windows are closed to maintain warmth as a result
  113. of cold weather.
  114. People in the same household breathe the same air and
  115. if one person has influenced the virus spread very fast,
  116. A common misconception is that the flu is caused by
  117. cold weather because of the high cases during the winter.
  118. The response rate for influencing might be an indicator of
  119. the need for an accurate method of diagnosis, paying at
  120. the influenza virus spread so easily influenza can be considered
  121. a serious social problem.
  122. It becomes a social problem because of coughing and sneezing
  123. etiquette. The fact that Children are more prone setting their
  124. faces and how the virus spreads.
  125. So most students have working parents and let's go to
  126. school when sick school Children off to share items such
  127. as pens, pencils and crayons, being at the church and
  128. go to school sick and they're sharing items.
  129. It's very easy for them to spread the virus at
  130. school. It's just very unfortunate that sometimes when a child
  131. has working parents, when they're sick, their parents can afford
  132. to take off work to keep them home so they're
  133. forced to go to school even if they have flu
  134. like symptoms.
  135. The influenza virus also brings about both health and ethical
  136. problems. I think it's very important to begin creating more
  137. awareness about the influence of virus.
  138. With more awareness, we have more education for both health
  139. care providers, for parents, for caregivers and for families.
  140. If more people are aware of the symptoms and what
  141. to look for, then more people would go out to
  142. get tested to get tested.
  143. We need to make sure that we have proper adequate
  144. testing, diagnosing and management.
  145. By doing so, we can hopefully reduce the amount of
  146. false negatives by increasing the accuracy of testament votes are
  147. protesting more and more people.
  148. We also need to make sure that we are planned
  149. and prepared for each flu season to have enough materials
  150. to properly test pediatric chilled.
