  1. Hello. My name is Maritza Rodriguez.
  2. Here is my presentation on why worry so why do
  3. I worry?
  4. Maybe I worry out of here from what's going to
  5. happen next.
  6. Out of uncertainty about not knowing what will happen or
  7. am I over analyzing things because I am impatient.
  8. I'm eager to know what's going to happen next to
  9. get my answers to see what's going to be the
  10. next step.
  11. I feel that I worry because of uncertainty.
  12. I tend to think what if the worst case scenario
  13. I am thinking about does happen.
  14. But what happened then?
  15. Am I prepared and ready to respond with the best
  16. solution? Will my family be okay?
  17. Will we still be together?
  18. Will I be okay?
  19. I think we ask ourselves these questions because we have
  20. no control over what will happen next.
  21. I find peace and annoy when my desire to know
  22. was not meant to make up scenarios which leads me
  23. to over analyze possible outcomes causing me to worry.
  24. The fact that I don't know or have any control
  25. over what will happen next makes me scared because there
  26. is no way for me to accurately predict the outcome
  27. of any given situation.
  28. I fear that not doing anything to figure out the
  29. outcome is much more riskier than possibly being prepared for
  30. any change.
  31. The fear of the unknown.
  32. The fear of a possible change interferes with my logical
  33. thinking. Since my visual calm state of mind is interfered
  34. with fear, I do not think properly.
  35. I started thinking of something that could happen and not
  36. about what is happening.
  37. So next slide here a personal experience I can share
  38. with you that demonstrates this is when my brother went
  39. to the emergency room, he complained of abdominal pain for
  40. hours. My parents gave him Tylenol and the pain did
  41. not subside upon arriving to the emergency room.
  42. He had blood work done and an ultrasound while I
  43. was waiting for his results.
  44. I kept thinking what if he needs surgery?
  45. What if he needs to start to take a medication
  46. for the rest of his life?
  47. The possible scenarios running through my head where unless I
  48. started to think if my brother isn't there, who will
  49. I talk to?
  50. My brother was like my sister too.
  51. He is the one I've been to at this point
  52. I panicked because I didn't want anything to change.
  53. I needed him back home.
  54. I needed him back now.
  55. Hours later we find out that he had appendicitis.
  56. He needed surgery.
  57. An appendectomy is a routine surgery.
  58. The doctors promised they take great care of him eventually
  59. the surgery was completed and he was able to return
  60. home. Yeah, you can see um my immediate family on
  61. the left there is my dad and then as my
  62. mom, my youngest brother, me then eric, he is the
  63. older brother but he's still younger than me.
  64. Eric is the one that had appendicitis.
  65. This picture was taken a little a little under 10
  66. years ago.
  67. Let's worry, sometime affected me and my family in more
  68. than one way.
  69. So how did this affect me?
  70. This worry sometime affected me personally, physically and mentally.
  71. I couldn't sleep the night my brother was in the
  72. hospital. I didn't want to eat the next morning I
  73. had a stomach ache and headache all night due to
  74. the constant worry, the over thinking of what could happen
  75. because all of these discomfort.
  76. Once my brother was home, I realized that there was
  77. no benefit of constantly wearing so much.
  78. My overthinking only gave me physical pain is sleepless night
  79. and in the long run it can lead to physical
  80. and mental health issues.
  81. A possible solution would be to learn to be more
  82. patient in these scenarios, perhaps by learning to be okay
  83. with uncertainty, meaning the unknowing to wait for the answers
  84. with desire and to go from there one step at
  85. a time and move forward.
  86. These changes in thinking would help my mental and physical
  87. well being immensely okay?
  88. So this concludes my presentation.
  89. I thank you for your time
