  1. Hello. Year 12. I hope you had a wonderful weekend
  2. and you're ready for our next five lessons for this week.
  3. Um, this lesson serves as both as a lesson, but also as an overview,
  4. um, of the things you're going to be doing over the course of the next week.
  5. So basically this week, I want you to construct a piece for me,
  6. something that I can read
  7. and provide feedback on,
  8. um, sort of like
  9. a practise sack, if you would
  10. Um,
  11. it will give me a good idea of what you're up
  12. to and how you've understood the concepts we've discussed so far.
  13. So over the course of this week, we're going to do some planning, some writing,
  14. some reviewing and some explaining.
  15. These are essentially four separate lessons.
  16. Um, but I'll be touching on each of them throughout,
  17. So there will still be a video for each lesson.
  18. Um, but this just gives you a good idea of what we're gonna be doing.
  19. So we'll start with planning
  20. And the good thing is, you already have the provided planning document.
  21. Um, that is created.
  22. so I
  23. don't need to provide that to you, which is great.
  24. Um,
  25. and you're essentially planning to write a short piece about
  26. half the length of what your actual sack will be,
  27. which is 800 to 1000 words Here I'm allowing 300 to 400 words,
  28. so it's a really small word count.
  29. So you have to make sure that whatever you do,
  30. it's going to be poignant and it's going to be powerful and it's going to be relevant.
  31. Um,
  32. there's very little room for fluff here because I'm
  33. not going to look at anything over 400 words.
  34. so?
  35. while planning, please make sure you take the time to unpack themes and topic Link.
  36. language from text language from the text
  37. symbols from the text.
  38. And of course, I want you to challenge the text as well.
  39. So what that means is, I mean, don't you know,
  40. punch the book.
  41. That's not only by challenge, I mean,
  42. challenge the ideas or the concepts in the text.
  43. So
  44. these are the things I want you to consider.
  45. when you are,
  46. um, doing your plan
  47. And obviously, when you're doing your writing as well,
  48. we didn't just discuss these things last week. Just leave them by the wayside.
  49. We want to include them in what we're actually doing
  50. All right,
  51. Like I said, from here on out, it's a bit of an overview of what we're going to be doing.
  52. Um, but today's lesson. I really just want you to focus on creating an effective plan
  53. so that you can use that plan.
  54. When you do explaining later on
  55. next lesson, you're going to be writing pretty simple. You just write your piece,
  56. um, 300 to 400 words
  57. while writing Keep in mind.
  58. Obviously, just the basic things language, form, structure, things,
  59. topics and ideas would also be wonderful.
  60. Um, but I I think you've already got them in your head anyway.
  61. That's what you'll be doing next lesson.
  62. I've put aside a lesson for what I'm calling reviewing, and that's not you.
  63. Reviewing your own work, I want you to work with a partner,
  64. someone that you trust provide good feedback on your work.
  65. And I've just got some really basic things for you to do with them.
  66. So they're gonna pose three questions to you that you have to answer.
  67. They're gonna provide three compliments about what you have written.
  68. And the game Provide
  69. three critical comments.
  70. These have to be recorded on your piece because I
  71. want to see what the person said about your work.
  72. You then have the opportunity to edit, update,
  73. review your work based on the conversation you've had with the person
  74. that you are working with. Um, so it actually goes into your final product. You need.
  75. You don't just need to keep what you did in the writing lesson,
  76. if somebody poses a question and you just suddenly
  77. want to change some aspect of your work.
  78. You 100% can change, uh, your work
  79. if they like something and you want to do more of it,
  80. put that in if they provide a critical comment and you think that was really,
  81. really valid
  82. and that some part of your work is just not effective
  83. or it's not doing what you want it to do,
  84. Please rework it,
  85. Um,
  86. and
  87. include it as part of the final thing that you submit to me.
  88. I would really like you to keep your first written piece and your final
  89. draught, your final copy
  90. separate so I can see how you've actually
  91. taken on the review and the feedback provided.
  92. And finally,
  93. in the fourth less of this week, you're gonna be doing what I'm calling explaining
  94. which is basically you're writing a statement of explanation,
  95. Um, which is gonna include flaps,
  96. which is form language, audience purpose, context.
  97. But I'll go more into that in the
  98. particular lesson that we're gonna be looking at reviewing
  99. just for now. Note. These are the things you're going to be discussing
  100. in your statement of explanation.
  101. So with that done, please get out your planning documents or provided to you. Um,
  102. what if we are in week
  103. three Now? I provide them in week one,
  104. um, so that you can work.
  105. Please keep in mind that the planning documents are planning.
  106. You fill in those text boxes with dot points and short statements.
  107. Don't
  108. completely fill them out. I don't want to
  109. come back next week and you submit to me a planning document that's over 1000 words,
  110. and you give me a 100 word short story.
  111. I'd much rather you do
  112. less planning,
  113. more writing,
