00:01 - 00:03
Hi everyone, my name is taylor.
00:03 - 00:08
Um This is my presentation for our amusement park um project.
00:09 - 00:15
Uh I have named this around the midwest roller coaster road trip. 2022.
00:15 - 00:19
Um I thought the plan it was kind of fun for that but
00:19 - 00:21
anyways
00:21 - 00:25
um so meet the crew, this is myself,
00:25 - 00:29
my friend Georgie and my cousin and friend Jasmine.
00:29 - 00:31
Um The upper
00:31 - 00:36
left corner. That photo did not want to straighten out so
00:36 - 00:38
it decided it looked best sideways.
00:39 - 00:43
Um These are the people who are going on my
00:44 - 00:46
imaginary trip.
00:51 - 00:53
The first thing I want to touch on is our budget.
00:53 - 00:58
Um the initial budget that I have um per person is about $560.
01:00 - 01:05
That leaves um about 65 each for travel which would
01:05 - 01:09
include the gas and any tolls that we find.
01:12 - 01:15
Then about 120 in hotel costs.
01:15 - 01:19
Um we plan on staying in four different hotels come along our road trip,
01:20 - 01:22
most in between
01:23 - 01:24
the amusement parks,
01:24 - 01:29
but the last one um in champaign Illinois being on our way home that drive
01:29 - 01:34
from Holiday World to Black Hawk is a little bit of a long one.
01:35 - 01:35
Mhm.
01:37 - 01:45
And then lastly the best part is $375 for the amusement parks and food estimates.
01:45 - 01:47
Um this was kind of I
01:48 - 01:51
definitely to round up so you always have
01:51 - 01:54
more than enough money rather than not enough money.
01:55 - 01:57
Um So this is just a rough estimate on how much
01:57 - 02:01
food we'd spend at the park plus the um all day passes
02:06 - 02:08
next. Um just to run through the rough itinerary
02:09 - 02:10
we planned on
02:11 - 02:14
leaving from Blackhat College which is obviously in Moline Illinois.
02:14 - 02:18
Our first trip would be too
02:18 - 02:21
Grady's family
02:21 - 02:23
fun park in bloomington tonight.
02:23 - 02:27
The plan is we would leave Blackhawk at about seven a.m.
02:27 - 02:30
And it would be about 2.5 hour drive to Grady's.
02:30 - 02:33
Um getting us there at about 9:30.
02:34 - 02:37
We would spend a majority of our day at the park um
02:38 - 02:44
Leaving about 2:00 head towards six flags
02:44 - 02:46
in Gurnee Illinois.
02:47 - 02:51
We would get to Gurney about
02:52 - 02:53
six p.m.
02:53 - 03:00
so then our plan is to get one of the hotels that I had mentioned prior um being the
03:02 - 03:04
Hampton N.
03:06 - 03:07
Um
03:08 - 03:14
From Six flags. We'd then start the next morning at eight a.m. Stay until about 3 30.
03:14 - 03:16
And that gives us a full day.
03:16 - 03:18
Um As you'll see in the future slides,
03:18 - 03:25
six flags has the most parks out of the uh four amusement parks that I have chosen.
03:26 - 03:27
Um
03:27 - 03:30
From six flags we would go towards King's island
03:32 - 03:36
dr until about 7:30 p.m. To Thorntown indiana.
03:36 - 03:40
Um And stay the night there and then leave Thorntown
03:40 - 03:42
at about seven AM and drive to King's Island,
03:42 - 03:45
arriving at about 10 a.m.
03:47 - 03:49
We would stay at the park until about three
03:49 - 03:52
and make our way towards Holiday World
03:52 - 03:56
um arrived to the hotel which I love everything
03:56 - 04:00
about holiday World because it's in santa claus indiana.
04:00 - 04:05
So we're also staying at santa's lodge, pretty much my dream vacation,
04:05 - 04:07
anything christmas related.
04:07 - 04:08
Um
04:09 - 04:13
we would try to get to the park about 9 30 stay until three.
04:14 - 04:16
Um and then from there we would head towards champaign
04:16 - 04:20
Illinois because that's about the halfway point between um,
04:20 - 04:23
the Holiday world location and Black Hawk,
04:23 - 04:26
So about five day trip total.
04:30 - 04:33
Um so here are some travel stats.
04:33 - 04:38
Uh the total trip is about 1000, 237 miles.
04:38 - 04:41
It'll be about five days for four amusement parks and like I said,
04:41 - 04:45
six flags is the largest with 15 active rollercoasters.
04:45 - 04:51
Kings Island is a close second with 14 Holiday world has five Grady's only has two,
04:54 - 04:58
So six flags, 6 flags quick stats.
04:58 - 04:59
I
05:00 - 05:01
uh
05:01 - 05:04
uploaded a picture of the raging boll.
05:04 - 05:08
It's actually the tallest and longest one at six flags raging at a
05:08 - 05:14
height of 202 ft and then a length of 5000 and 57 ft.
05:14 - 05:18
Um The most inversions
05:18 - 05:21
for roller coasters is actually a tie between their batman
05:21 - 05:25
roller coaster and the X flight both having five inversions.
05:29 - 05:33
Kings Island stats has a bit more um,
05:34 - 05:38
diversity out of the 14 active coasters.
05:38 - 05:41
The tallest one is the orient at 287 ft and
05:41 - 05:45
the longest one would be the beast at 7359 ft.
05:46 - 05:51
I've included a picture of the banshee which has the most inversions at seven
05:59 - 06:03
overall um for the project slash class reflection,
06:03 - 06:09
I thought I would just add it into the end of this presentation um as it states,
06:09 - 06:14
my expectations were that this class is going to be a bit easier than it was.
06:14 - 06:17
Um Math has always come pretty easy to me, but
06:17 - 06:24
I underestimated how I have not actually taken in a math class while um
06:24 - 06:27
On top of this being an eight week course,
06:27 - 06:32
I think that really made it a bit more difficult for me personally.
06:32 - 06:38
Um I believe that if I would have taken a full 16 week course, I wouldn't have felt so
06:39 - 06:43
underprepared and overwhelmed with a couple of the units,
06:43 - 06:45
uh the units I struggled with the most were
06:45 - 06:50
the standard deviation um and this last finance unit.
06:50 - 06:51
Mhm.
06:52 - 06:52
Um
06:53 - 06:55
I've never really been a huge fan of math,
06:55 - 07:00
but it was really fun to do this project um kind of make a fun little road trip,
07:00 - 07:02
my friends and I actually,
07:02 - 07:05
the two that I included in the imaginary one or the two that I would take on
07:05 - 07:09
a real one with me um and we try to plan stuff out all the time,
07:09 - 07:12
not necessarily for amusement parks but for
07:12 - 07:15
fun little trips to sightsee
07:15 - 07:16
um in general, so
07:16 - 07:19
it's fun to take what you learn
07:19 - 07:23
in math class and use it towards um real life scenarios
07:23 - 07:27
and same with the finance unit and being able to,
07:27 - 07:31
you know, look into credit cards and um
07:32 - 07:33
house
07:33 - 07:35
mortgages and loans and
07:36 - 07:38
um I haven't had to take any loans out yet,
07:38 - 07:41
so it's kind of nice to be able to learn the math on that.
07:41 - 07:44
Um But overall the final project was really fun and I
07:44 - 07:47
can't think of anything I would really change about it,
07:47 - 07:48
so
07:49 - 07:50
thank you so much.
