00:01 - 00:03
Hi. My name's Arianna George, and this is going to
00:03 - 00:04
be my unit Final project.
00:05 - 00:07
So I'm going to start out with a little bit
00:07 - 00:07
of history about myself.
00:08 - 00:10
Um, I include some pictures just for reference.
00:10 - 00:13
Just to show you guys, Um, what kind of stuff
00:14 - 00:17
I am into now and stuff that I also really
00:17 - 00:18
enjoyed doing before coming.
00:18 - 00:19
You come.
00:20 - 00:22
Um, I really enjoy spending time with my friends traveling.
00:23 - 00:25
I have a lot of family in Europe, so I
00:25 - 00:26
go there pretty often.
00:27 - 00:28
I love going to concerts.
00:29 - 00:30
I mean, I used to love going to concerts, but,
00:31 - 00:33
you know, that's subject really happened now.
00:33 - 00:38
Anyways, um, also, like animals, I really love animals.
00:38 - 00:41
Made my friends went to go play with goats one
00:42 - 00:42
time. That was really fun.
00:43 - 00:44
Um, I also just got a new puppy.
00:45 - 00:48
So, you know, walking her and stuff like that playing
00:48 - 00:49
with her is really fun for me.
00:49 - 00:54
And, um, yeah, I think my interests have pretty much
00:55 - 00:55
stayed the same.
00:56 - 01:01
Mostly. I mean, there's some new things that I've learned
01:01 - 01:04
about myself in that I think I've, you know, gotten
01:05 - 01:07
more involved in since coming.
01:07 - 01:09
UConn. But I'll get into that a little bit later.
01:10 - 01:16
Also, I'd like to outline my original expectations for life
01:16 - 01:16
at UConn.
01:17 - 01:20
I honestly was kind of intimidated by college to begin
01:20 - 01:22
with. I thought it was gonna be really hard and
01:23 - 01:24
that I was going to be able to get good
01:24 - 01:27
grades and that, especially being at home, it would be
01:27 - 01:29
taking like, a big toll on my mental health and
01:29 - 01:31
stuff. So, honestly, I was pretty worried about it.
01:32 - 01:35
But I'll talk about later how my expectations have changed
01:36 - 01:36
and progressed.
01:38 - 01:40
So I honestly haven't done that much so far.
01:41 - 01:43
UConn. But, I mean, I guess being at home has
01:44 - 01:47
kind of It's been hard Thio get out there and
01:47 - 01:47
do new things.
01:48 - 01:51
But I have been studying biology, which has been really
01:51 - 01:54
interesting. I did get a job at a golf course
01:54 - 01:56
at the beginning of the semester.
01:56 - 01:58
I mean now, not so much anymore because it's gotten
01:59 - 02:01
colder. But that was a really fun job, and I'm
02:01 - 02:03
excited to get back into that Once the warmer months
02:03 - 02:07
come. Um, also I've been like I said earlier, I
02:07 - 02:09
did get into working out a lot more so like
02:10 - 02:11
I've been running and like trying to lift weights and
02:12 - 02:14
stuff like that, just working on, like, you know, self
02:15 - 02:18
care and trying to improve and better myself with the
02:18 - 02:21
free time that I have Right now, I'm also focusing
02:22 - 02:25
a lot on my mental health and like keeping a
02:25 - 02:26
balance between work in school.
02:27 - 02:30
So I still make sure that I do things for
02:30 - 02:33
myself and not everything is just about school so that
02:33 - 02:36
I don't get too stressed out or worried about things.
02:37 - 02:39
And I can still do things for me and have
02:39 - 02:43
fun. So currently, my views air kind of all over
02:43 - 02:45
the place, but I thought I'd just highlight a couple
02:45 - 02:45
of things.
02:46 - 02:50
Um, throughout this semester, basically, Like I said earlier, I've
02:50 - 02:52
just been learning about, like, taking care of myself and
02:53 - 02:55
making sure that, you know, like being at home isn't
02:55 - 02:57
gonna take that much of a toll on me even
02:58 - 03:00
if I'm not living the life that I used to
03:00 - 03:03
be living, you know, like traveling and doing all that
03:03 - 03:06
fun stuff like I can still find ways toe, enjoy
03:06 - 03:08
being at home and and like spending time with my
03:09 - 03:12
family and stuff like that and Also, I kind of
03:12 - 03:14
wanted to talk about like my world views because I
03:14 - 03:17
think those have kind of changed, like this semester, Just
03:18 - 03:20
kind of thinking about, like, what kind of impact I'm
03:20 - 03:24
having on society and like what my purpose is in
03:24 - 03:24
the world.
03:24 - 03:26
I've been trying to kind of figure it out.
03:26 - 03:29
I mean, it's a pretty daunting question, but, you know,
03:29 - 03:33
just kind of thinking about it makes me wonder what
03:34 - 03:36
I want to do and like what my interests really
03:36 - 03:38
are. And that kind of leads me.
03:38 - 03:40
Thio, you know that picture on the left there that
03:41 - 03:43
just like the confusion that I'm currently having, like even
03:44 - 03:46
with school, like, I don't really know what I'm what
03:47 - 03:50
I want to study or what you know, job I
03:50 - 03:51
even wanna have in the future.
03:51 - 03:54
But I guess you know the whole part of living
03:54 - 03:58
life is that in time I'll figure everything out and
03:58 - 03:58
it will be okay.
04:00 - 04:02
Honestly, this course has helped me a ton.
04:03 - 04:06
Um, it's taught me a lot about organization and like
04:07 - 04:09
making sure that I'm keeping all my classes straight and
04:09 - 04:13
stuff because when I first started like blackboard was really
04:13 - 04:16
confusing, And I was really worried that I would miss
04:16 - 04:18
an assignment or like something would pop up and I
04:18 - 04:21
would get it like I would get Thio professor late
04:21 - 04:22
and so that was kind of worrisome.
04:23 - 04:25
But I was able to, you know, figure it out
04:25 - 04:27
and like seeing that other people were also in the
04:27 - 04:29
same boat as me was really helpful.
04:30 - 04:33
And also, I, like, tell this course focus a lot
04:33 - 04:35
on like mental health because I don't think that I
04:35 - 04:39
took as much of it into account as I do
04:39 - 04:43
now because, you know, schools to like, honestly, be my
04:43 - 04:45
number one priority and, like, I would wake up in
04:45 - 04:48
the morning and like, I would go straight just, like
04:48 - 04:50
do school and everything and, like, I didn't really take
04:50 - 04:53
that much time for myself to like, kind of reflect
04:53 - 04:54
on how I was doing.
04:55 - 04:57
So I think that this course definitely helps me to
04:58 - 04:58
make that adjustment.
04:59 - 05:02
Also, I think it's definitely helped me do like well,
05:02 - 05:04
in all my course and stuff and like set goals
05:05 - 05:07
and like, you know, I use like a planner and
05:07 - 05:09
stuff just to like, make sure I'm on track of
05:09 - 05:12
everything and like to make sure I get good grades
05:13 - 05:13
about end of semester.
05:14 - 05:16
Uh, yeah, I think it's definitely helped me with all
05:17 - 05:17
that stuff.
05:18 - 05:22
So my future hopes and expectations are too, you know,
05:22 - 05:24
probably make some friends eventually.
05:24 - 05:26
Hopefully, I can get on campus at some point.
05:27 - 05:29
I'm already know that's not gonna be happening next semester,
05:29 - 05:33
unfortunately. But, you know, hopefully at some point I can
05:33 - 05:36
get out there because I'd really like Thio, you know,
05:36 - 05:39
join clubs and, like, do club sports and stuff like
05:39 - 05:41
that. And I know that it is offered online and
05:42 - 05:43
stuff, but I just don't think it's the same like
05:43 - 05:46
seeing someone face to face and getting to experience that
05:46 - 05:48
stuff like hands on.
05:48 - 05:51
So I really hope that I'm able to do that
05:51 - 05:51
in the future.
05:52 - 05:55
And just like, you know, overall see myself grow as
05:55 - 05:59
a learner and as a person and that, um, you
05:59 - 06:01
know, throughout whatever I want to study, whatever I decide
06:02 - 06:04
that I want to do that, I really enjoy it.
06:04 - 06:07
And it's something that I'm gonna wanna wake up every
06:08 - 06:09
day and continue learning more about it.
06:10 - 06:12
I think I kind of went into college with the
06:12 - 06:16
expectation that I had to have everything figured out right
06:16 - 06:18
away. But, you know, I think I'm kind of growing
06:19 - 06:22
to accept that it's okay that I don't exactly know
06:22 - 06:23
what I want to dio.
06:23 - 06:25
I mean, it's a good, like college is a good
06:25 - 06:28
place toe, you know, explore things and, like, take different
06:29 - 06:31
courses and figure out what I really want to dio.
06:32 - 06:35
So with that knowledge that I have now, I think
06:35 - 06:40
I'm much more ableto approach college and more calm manner.
06:42 - 06:43
So, yeah, that's under my presentation.
06:44 - 06:46
Thank you so much for listening on.
06:46 - 06:47
Yeah, thanks.
