  1. So moving on to our area, move past the set
  2. and go down to our final place.
  3. Sure, Sturgis infrastructure is the establishment of resources that is
  4. access political staff and students to use.
  5. How is our building set up, students and teachers?
  6. Okay, right analogy Yeah, criteria, robust and flexible.
  7. Are we allowing for plentiful amount of technology?
  8. Is it flexible for us to use or is there
  9. a certain systematic structure of it?
  10. Is it engaging?
  11. Are we using technology become engaging connectivity?
  12. Was there access to the internet look like?
  13. Is it just within the school?
  14. Do we have certain restrictions with our connectivity?
  15. Tillerson's ability to access internet outside of school and teachers
  16. for that matter.
  17. Four provides high quality content is what we're using it
  18. for actually, high quality and hitting our objectives and going
  19. to be on our objectives and doing some more higher
  20. order thinking.
  21. And are we going over the expectations on proper technology
  22. use stated and practice So with whatever technology use expectations
  23. we have are being stated and our constant practicing them
  24. and having students no them forwards and backwards and go
  25. into our evaluation portion.
  26. What is Sturgis doing well, staff has flexibility to adjust
  27. lessons to fit styling needs.
  28. Technology allows us to do that with a lot of
  29. flexibility especially with our infrastructure because we have we have
  30. so much access to every teacher has a laptop and
  31. across our graphical book, a laptop, a desktop and a
  32. ipad. So from our standpoint, amazing connectivity.
  33. And we also have the ability to adjust our lessons
  34. because that connectivity which allows for us to help students
  35. that either may have forgotten their technology at home.
  36. So if they did not bring the Chromebook to school
  37. well we can easily give this to paper or maybe
  38. even give them a spare.
  39. We're pretty, pretty great with the flexibility to digital censorship
  40. is required for all students.
  41. So we are going over and we are practicing what
  42. we expect students to, how we expect them to behave
  43. over the Internet and with technology so we can avoid
  44. any troubled situations.
  45. Three technology used for engagement or striving to become engaging.
  46. We do have some more wealth seasoned teachers who are
  47. very used to doing things a certain way, but because
  48. of our new administration are fantastic tech coach, there's we
  49. are seeing more experienced teachers starting to open up to
  50. using different methods using technology and that's the push from
  51. our school is that we want to use this resource
  52. to its fullest except by the best education for our
  53. students and are waiting for Infrastructure is actually the top
  54. ranking, one out of five.
  55. All the components are important, but without an infrastructure to
  56. build these ideas upon establishing the other components cannot happen
  57. without the infrastructure.
  58. Without a technology base.
  59. It doesn't matter if you have great leadership teaching, it
  60. does not matter if learning is happening it will not
  61. happen without the proper and construct your put into place
  62. and we're gonna move on to the next portion.
  63. So we've evaluated the five criteria and now that we
  64. know this it's time for us to look at what
  65. georges can do, better work moving on to the best
  66. practices. So for the next five categories we're going to
  67. talk about what the best practice Sturgis could do to
  68. improve itself four of those five components and stay in
  69. the E.
  70. T. P.
  71. So our best practice for learning is simple.
  72. We want to use we want to push technology to
  73. help with non academic skills.
  74. We have a good amount of teachers that use technology
  75. to help with academic skills.
  76. I see this as a blessing, but also I can
  77. see a missed opportunity.
  78. I think there should definitely be more of a push
  79. to develop manicure bank skills and I also believe that
  80. we should provide training on more ways for staffed, integrate
  81. technology into lessons.
  82. I can speak as a first year teacher in this
  83. district, one of the frustrating portions was not only what
  84. resources were available, I had difficulty finding, trying to figure
  85. out what I could use was available to me through
  86. the district.
  87. It would have been amazing to have more training or
  88. a list of some sort to know what I could
  89. use, some ideas on how to integrate technology.
  90. Now our next category is teaching.
  91. Okay. We I believe that for teaching aspect to improve
  92. the district needs to drive more opportunities for teachers, developed
  93. tax skills through professional development, through what I want to,
  94. coaching with your tech team, whatever the case may be,
  95. I would love more opportunities for us to sit down
  96. and just work on developing these skills as a staff
  97. and maybe even bounce ideas off each other about how
  98. we can integrate these into our lessons leadership.
  99. I mean I don't think it's more of a building
  100. issue. I think it's more of a practice that the
  101. district can use.
  102. The district should develop a wide vision and sectarian articles
  103. per grade level and create funny models for teachers to
  104. purchase technology that will assist with instruction.
  105. These two goals kind of go hand in hand.
  106. The first one is stating that we are teaching kids
  107. a certain skill as they turn to each grade level.
  108. For example, when should students know how to properly evaluate
  109. a source?
  110. Should be in seventh grade or before they get to
  111. seventh grade?
  112. Should students know how to evaluate a source in first
  113. grade? What about performing a proper search?
  114. How about digital citizenship?
  115. These are skills that are very valuable and they are
  116. taught. But one way it could be more effective if
  117. we just have set goals for the year and half
  118. our staff to the students the skills and develop them
  119. through their educational career and create a fundamental for teachers.
  120. Just more goes along lines of allowing teachers those opportunities
  121. to buy certain things that might help their classroom.
  122. I know it's a more tech focused teacher.
  123. This would have been amazing.
  124. Our world would be amazing if we have this in
  125. my school.
  126. I can only have a long wish list of things
  127. I would buy with a technological fund.
  128. Then we have assessments.
  129. Best practice for assessments, provide more tech based assessments via
  130. google forms or PBL, which is project based learning just
  131. using technology as a way to allow students more of
  132. an opportunity to express our ideas, show their knowledge, allow
  133. for more feedback.
  134. For me personally, it's convenient that this assignment and what
  135. I did with the final portion of my classroom kind
  136. of go hand in hand because I had my students
  137. used tech as a way of exploring different ways to
  138. present. So they did make presses and near pods and
  139. many other ways of presenting information.
  140. And it was a huge success.
  141. And I think as a school we need to do
  142. more of that to last month, more freedom of expression
  143. and more time Two explore different avenues and develop a
  144. way to communicate with students and families more effectively.
  145. We do communicate with our students, but it's more effective
  146. when the family gets involved and it does take a
  147. lot of time to try to call and contact families
  148. to let them know about the student's progress and if
  149. you're knows that and we do have a system where
  150. are great book can notify teachers, but our parents, but
  151. it's very inconsistent only because the parent needs to be
  152. signed in and much a whole bunch of other factors.
  153. So it'd be nice if we had some way of
  154. communicating with them, like and I dont some ideas off
  155. time ahead is maybe a weekly email giving them a
  156. progress report.
  157. Now, moving on to our final one is infrastructure.
  158. How can we improve the infrastructure?
  159. The best practice for this is create an open map
  160. or database of educational resources and push judicial system of
  161. course is more throughout the year and make them more
  162. engaging. I talked about number one, my frustrations with the
  163. learning aspect, it would be amazing if as a school,
  164. we collaborated and create a list.
  165. So we knew what resources we had as a school
  166. and how to use them.
  167. And I also believe that it doesn't this digital citizenship
  168. courses need to be improved only because they are done
  169. and it may have been because of Covid, but it
  170. was very, I think they only have two lessons this
  171. year and it was done through zoom.
  172. Now, I'm hoping that this upcoming year provided our pandemic
  173. succeed, subsides a little bit more that we will be
  174. able to progress and have more engaging Muslims where we
  175. have someone come into our classroom and engage our students
  176. and to wrap this up.
  177. We go to our conclusion.
  178. So suggestions for the district go like this, please develop
  179. a our District wide Technology, the technology development plan.
  180. Going on.
  181. Our last point, we want to see that our district
  182. is developing, our students are developing skills as the years
  183. go on.
  184. We aren't just touching on the same point year after
  185. year, but they're building upon those skills, have more professional
  186. development based around staff learning text skills, making sure our
  187. staff is exploring avenues developing as educators and learning learners
  188. as well and push more digital citizenship lessons throughout the
  189. school year.
  190. Once again, kind of touching on .1, allowing students to
  191. time and effort to develop proper tech skills Overall, we're
  192. gonna get started just 3.8 out of five.
  193. The good about this building is it's building are a
  194. foundation for advancements with technology to take place.
  195. Teachers have flexibility to adjust assessments for their needs and
  196. support for teacher tech development exists.
  197. We see a lot of great things going to the
  198. bones, the structure of Sturgis but they need to be
  199. developed. I think the best area out of those five
  200. cones at Sturgis performed in is the assessments area.
  201. There is a great push.
  202. I want to even say push.
  203. There's just a great culture in the school of teachers
  204. building assessments that are meaningful, working together and collaborating to
  205. make something meaningful and using tech to assist with delivering
  206. the data, looking at the data allowances to reflect on
  207. their scores and really making the most of the tact
  208. that exists.
  209. Some improvements with a more clear district vision just to
  210. develop well rounded tech students at the end of their
  211. careers and hard push for tech training and district.
  212. This is really aiming for the teacher portion.
  213. That way we don't stunt ourselves as educators.
  214. And all this information from this presentation came from the
  215. U. S.
  216. Department of Education with the re imagining the role of
  217. technology and that is all I have for you guys.
  218. Thank you for sticking with me.
  219. It was a pleasure to present and I hope you
  220. have a wonderful day and that you take care, goodbye.
