  1. no blue be left behind.
  2. My curious project is an initiative for young women to
  3. advocate for their own breast health and to educate young
  4. women on breast cancer.
  5. Although breast cancer is less common in young women, 18%
  6. of breast cancer diagnoses are found in women under the
  7. age of 40.
  8. Young men are oftentimes excluded from typical breast cancer advocacy,
  9. education and support groups.
  10. Rethink Breast Cancer is a campaign movement dedicated to representing
  11. young woman affected by breast cancer.
  12. This campaign aims to educate, empower and advocate for young
  13. women affected by breast cancer.
  14. This has inspired me to amplify this message to my
  15. community. Cancer diagnosis can be an isolating experience.
  16. Representation is key support groups with others and similar age
  17. demographics, and those also on their breast cancer journey create
  18. a communal understanding and give young women a sense of
  19. inclusion. This helps not only to bring awareness but my
  20. resonate with someone else going through their own breast cancer
  21. journey. Young women diagnosed with breast cancer face unique hardships.
  22. Oftentimes young woman have more difficult experience with diagnosis and
  23. treatment. Breast cancer can cause a major disruption in a
  24. young woman's life, especially women who are still in school.
  25. Those who have started family starting a career, etcetera.
  26. Young women tend to be diagnosed with more advanced stages
  27. of breast cancer when compared to other age groups.
  28. This means that the tumors are larger in size and
  29. oftentimes have metastasized tow large lymph nodes under the arm.
  30. Breast cancers and young women are more likely to have
  31. an aggressive biology.
  32. Young women diagnosed with breast cancer have a lower survival
  33. rate than that of older woman.
  34. Aggressive advanced stage breast cancers oftentimes require more intensive treatment,
  35. which have greater side effects.
  36. A side effect unique to young woman is the risk
  37. of infertility chemotherapy.
  38. It may cause damage.
  39. The ovaries, which could lead to infertility.
  40. Anti estrogen treatment is also offered to women with breast
  41. cancer, which will decline a woman's over in function, which
  42. can lead to infertility.
  43. Young women have more dense breast.
  44. Breast density refers to increased glandular tissue.
  45. This is hard to distinguish masses or tumors from this
  46. glandular tissue.
  47. This makes mammograms less clear in young women, as opposed
  48. to women in older age group.
  49. Because of this self breast, exams are encouraged ways you
  50. can reduce your own breast cancer risk.
  51. Control your weight being overweight or obese.
  52. Increase your risk factor.
  53. Try to live a healthy, active lifestyle.
  54. Limit alcohol consumption consuming five or more drinks per week.
  55. Increases your risk of breast cancer.
  56. Stop smoking.
  57. Increase your vitamin D content.
  58. Vitamin D deficiency has been linked to young woman having
  59. breast cancer.
  60. Some foods high in vitamin D include mushrooms, eggs and
  61. salmon. The earlier breast cancer is detected the greater possibility
  62. of remission.
  63. Approximately eight out of 10 women feel a change in
  64. their own breast before seeking medical attention.
  65. Performing self breast exams monthly is a great way to
  66. monitor your own breast health.
  67. A self breast exam involves both the feel and the
  68. appearance of the breast.
  69. It is recommended that you do this in front of
  70. the mirror.

  79. A little size and shape difference between each one.
  80. If that's your usual is normal.
  81. Any swelling unnoticeable de formation.
  82. Any dimpling, puckering protruding rinse a newly inverted nipple change
  83. the nipple color?

  87. Change positions.
  88. Put your hands to the sky and move side to
  89. side. Look for any of the same changes as seen
  90. and step one with your arms up.
  91. You could better visualized changes such as dimpling or puckering,
  92. that may not be noticeable in natural position.
  93. For example, if there's a lump in the lower portion
  94. of your breast, it is hard to notice as this
  95. area is fuller.
  96. When you lift your arm up, the skin and muscle
  97. will stretch, but the lump typically stays put.
  98. Step three.
  99. Check for fluids.
  100. Is there any fluid coming out of either one or

  133. These exams are also a great way to get to
  134. know your usual breast anatomy so you'll be able to
