00:00 - 00:03
So that has been really helpful to the fire department
00:04 - 00:04
as a whole.
00:06 - 00:08
Um On the next slide, I was going to talk
00:09 - 00:10
a little bit about assessing and screening.
00:10 - 00:11
I've kind of covered that.
00:12 - 00:14
But as far as the assessment that we do, it's
00:15 - 00:16
just a bio psychosocial assessment.
00:17 - 00:20
We just have a part in the assessment that does
00:21 - 00:25
ask the client if they have a history of any
00:25 - 00:29
type of trauma or are they currently involved in a
00:30 - 00:30
traumatic situation?
00:31 - 00:34
And so um that kind of opens the door.
00:34 - 00:36
They certainly don't have to tell us.
00:36 - 00:38
But that kind of opens the door um and you
00:39 - 00:41
know, if they want to share of course we will
00:41 - 00:45
listen and we will try to find resources to be
00:45 - 00:49
able to help them get through um the situation that
00:50 - 00:52
they're going through and to start their healing process.
00:54 - 00:56
And then lastly referrals.
00:56 - 00:59
So uh the way that works is once somebody discloses
01:00 - 01:04
some type of information about abuse or assault.
01:05 - 01:09
Um I tell them at that point about the safe
01:09 - 01:12
center, um, and all of the services that they can
01:12 - 01:18
provide and um Fran, I'll get their consent to discuss
01:18 - 01:21
the situation with Fran and make a referral.
01:22 - 01:26
And then at this time what we're doing is I
01:26 - 01:31
am using our laptop and hotspot to go out to
01:31 - 01:34
their home and I just kind of set them up
01:34 - 01:38
a little portable doctor's office and um they join on
01:39 - 01:41
a platform and Fran pops on the screen.
01:42 - 01:44
And they do, you know roughly about an hour of
01:45 - 01:45
of counseling.
01:46 - 01:50
And it has really really made a difference in and
01:50 - 01:52
the ones that we have made referrals to.
01:53 - 01:56
And so, um, we certainly want to keep this relationship
01:57 - 02:01
strong with them because it's ultimately helping the city as
02:02 - 02:05
a whole, helping take and not take our first responders
02:05 - 02:08
out of service and they certainly aren't equipped to handle
02:09 - 02:12
those types of things if someone were to, to open
02:12 - 02:13
up to them.
02:13 - 02:15
And so it's great to be able to have that
02:15 - 02:19
resource. And firefighters are all aware that they can, um,
02:19 - 02:20
inform anybody.
02:21 - 02:23
They go on a call for any type of assault.
02:24 - 02:27
They can, you know, refer that person to the safe
02:27 - 02:28
center as well.
02:28 - 02:32
And so, um, that's how we go about referring.
02:33 - 02:35
And then that's all that I have.
02:36 - 02:39
Um, if you guys have any questions for me, you're
02:39 - 02:40
welcome to call me.
02:41 - 02:43
I've got my number here and call or email.
02:44 - 02:46
Um, and I have my email below.
02:46 - 02:49
So thank you so much for your time and feel
02:49 - 02:52
free to reach out if there's anything that I can
02:53 - 02:53
do for you.
