00:02 - 00:05
this presentation is going to be about a day in the life
00:05 - 00:08
of a Muslim family by using Rahmah Mosque as an example.
00:09 - 00:10
Um, so primary.
00:10 - 00:15
So, first of all, Rahmah Mosque is a mosque in the suburb of all Guildford in Sydney.
00:15 - 00:20
Um, the suburb has has quite a large population of Muslims,
00:20 - 00:22
mostly Lebanese descent Muslims.
00:22 - 00:24
The mosque is on a main street.
00:24 - 00:28
Um, it has lower density residential areas surrounding it,
00:28 - 00:31
but it's quite close by to the nearby local community area
00:32 - 00:37
and, uh, local schools and and and other parts and other services.
00:38 - 00:41
The main point that I'm gonna be discussing in this video are
00:41 - 00:45
the daily activities of a Friday where the Jumah prayers are and
00:45 - 00:47
the daily activities of an eighth day so we can get a
00:47 - 00:50
sense of how these two days would compare against each other.
00:50 - 00:51
So first of all,
00:51 - 00:54
the daily activities of Zuma are when the family
00:54 - 00:56
would be at home because it's a workday.
00:56 - 00:59
Um, parents would go to work and the kids would go to school.
00:59 - 01:05
And because Zuma would come around early afternoon part of the day, um,
01:05 - 01:09
most people would then take a break during their lunch hour or their lunchtime.
01:09 - 01:11
This means 2025 minutes.
01:11 - 01:14
They would go to the nearby mosque for the weekly Friday prayers.
01:14 - 01:17
The weekly Friday prayers are not mandatory,
01:17 - 01:20
but there were a very good way for the whole community
01:20 - 01:23
coming together to have a prayer time together on Friday.
01:23 - 01:29
But as as it's not a Muslim country where we're not in a Muslim country right now,
01:29 - 01:32
um, Friday's workday, However, in some countries around the world,
01:32 - 01:34
Friday is a holiday is a weekend,
01:34 - 01:37
so that would mean that the prayers would always fall on a weekend.
01:38 - 01:43
Secondly, we have the daily activities, which are incredibly different,
01:43 - 01:44
because either is a very,
01:44 - 01:47
very special day for Muslims that celebrates the end of Ramadan,
01:47 - 01:51
where Muslims fast for a month and the day of it break that cycle.
01:51 - 01:54
This each day starts off with the need prayer early in the morning.
01:54 - 02:00
This is usually mandatory for for all Muslims who are able to go to the mosque.
02:00 - 02:05
Um, after this prayer, there's usually a celebration where everybody rejoices.
02:05 - 02:09
Families and friends meet up because you're celebrating a whole month of where
02:09 - 02:13
you've made sacrifice and you've been and you've been following the religious,
02:13 - 02:13
Uh,
02:14 - 02:16
um, teachings of the Koran.
02:16 - 02:19
Um, afterwards, when do you come back from the mosque?
02:19 - 02:22
It's usually celebration where you go meet friends, you go meet family.
02:22 - 02:24
You're gonna meet people that you care about because you've
02:25 - 02:27
because you're celebrating the work that you've
02:27 - 02:30
done throughout the month now at Rama.
02:30 - 02:31
Most specifically,
02:31 - 02:34
there are quite a lot of activities that happened during these times as well.
02:34 - 02:39
Um, so after the Juma or on the weekend, you have Korean classes.
02:39 - 02:44
You have English and science classes as well That mosque offers
02:44 - 02:47
there are photos that are shown above on the slide that shows the
02:47 - 02:49
the gatherings that that that happened at the mosque.
02:50 - 02:53
Um, some of them are big gatherings for it.
02:53 - 02:54
Some of them are also just after
02:55 - 02:56
lunch or
02:56 - 03:01
or in the evening when people gather after after work or after school.
03:02 - 03:03
So, yeah,
03:03 - 03:06
this was just a little introduction to the two
03:06 - 03:09
different major days of Muslims that that they have.
03:09 - 03:09
Thank you. Very
