00:02 - 00:05
Hello and welcome to my presentation on transformational leadership.
00:06 - 00:08
All right, let's go ahead and begin.
00:08 - 00:12
So what exactly is transformational leadership?
00:13 - 00:17
It is a specific leadership that initiates change that needs
00:17 - 00:19
to, that needs to happen within a facility.
00:20 - 00:22
These changes are sort of expected out of the employees
00:22 - 00:22
of that job.
00:23 - 00:26
For example health care have certain expectations that are supposed
00:27 - 00:29
to be met and they're usually given by higher authority
00:30 - 00:33
that higher authority are these transformational leaders who bring in
00:33 - 00:37
positivity and good things around the employees so that these
00:37 - 00:39
expectations are eventually met for the facility.
00:41 - 00:48
So next we have here what um next we have,
00:49 - 00:51
How does transformational leadership connect to healthcare?
00:52 - 00:55
Well as I previously said before and occupations such as
00:55 - 00:59
health care, the higher authority basically sets a tone that
00:59 - 01:01
is expected and that everyone can follow.
01:02 - 01:05
That is the entire purpose of having transformational leadership you
01:05 - 01:08
know to have a leader that brings in good things,
01:08 - 01:11
positive things and trends the whole program into something better
01:12 - 01:14
with the help of everyone collaborating, you know the employees
01:14 - 01:14
as well.
01:15 - 01:21
Um In this next slide we are introducing transactional leadership
01:22 - 01:24
and how it differs from transformational leadership.
01:25 - 01:31
So here we have um transformational leadership which is the
01:31 - 01:35
ability to communicate a specific vision that brings in followers
01:35 - 01:38
to adapt to this new vision and create better perceptions
01:39 - 01:40
of a common goal.
01:41 - 01:43
Um in other words being the leader that brings in
01:43 - 01:46
good ideas and people follow through with them as well
01:46 - 01:48
so that everyone is on the same page.
01:49 - 01:52
But here we have transactional leadership which says one person's
01:53 - 01:56
interests are projected onto all other employees and it's assumed
01:57 - 02:00
that the decision is what motivates everyone the same way.
02:01 - 02:05
So this is stating that one person's interest automatically becomes
02:05 - 02:08
everyone's interest without there being a common ground common interest.
02:09 - 02:12
Um Just one person's idea and that's just how you're
02:13 - 02:13
going to go about that.
02:14 - 02:15
That's just how that's going to be.
02:16 - 02:20
You know, like there's not going to be anyway, out
02:20 - 02:22
of that, there's not gonna be any meetings going on
02:22 - 02:24
behind that, you're not going to get the chance to
02:25 - 02:29
really speak um, in a situation with transactional and that's
02:29 - 02:29
just how it's gonna go.
02:30 - 02:35
You know, for certain, I say certain companies, not all
02:35 - 02:36
companies but certain ones.
02:38 - 02:54
Um, So next here on the slide, we have, yes,
02:54 - 02:54
this is everyone.
02:55 - 02:57
So here we have what are transformational strategies?
02:58 - 03:01
So we have integrity above all else.
03:02 - 03:06
Get down in the trenches, communicate, communicate, communicate, um, have
03:06 - 03:09
a meeting, keep the mission of the organization in mind,
03:11 - 03:13
and I'm going to explain all of these.
03:14 - 03:17
Okay, so integrity above all else is really having a
03:17 - 03:19
sense of being true to the values that this person
03:20 - 03:23
has and being honest with all interactions with everything that
03:23 - 03:23
is involved.
03:24 - 03:27
Okay, you're down in the trenches is about doing things
03:27 - 03:30
that anyone can do, not having someone do things for
03:31 - 03:33
you because it's simply something that you would never do.
03:33 - 03:36
Like, you know, managers have certain employees do certain things
03:36 - 03:38
that are like IRA manager, I don't want to do
03:38 - 03:42
that, but no, you being transformational, you would need to
03:43 - 03:45
be able to do everything that everyone else can do.
03:45 - 03:55
Okay, so next we have um I'm sorry next we
03:55 - 03:59
have communicate, communicate, communicate, um which is fairly obvious to
03:59 - 04:00
say that communication is key.
04:00 - 04:04
Health care leaders must always know how to communicate and
04:04 - 04:04
listen effectively.
04:05 - 04:07
In order for there to be an understanding between the
04:07 - 04:09
leaders and the followers of that facility.
04:10 - 04:14
All aspects of communications should be thoroughly thought out before
04:15 - 04:18
executing, you know, meaning, all ideas and questions or concerns
04:18 - 04:21
should be talked about no matter what the situation is,
04:21 - 04:24
so that there will be a common ground throughout the
04:24 - 04:26
hospital or any facility, honestly.
04:27 - 04:29
So next we have having a meeting which is pretty
04:29 - 04:30
much in the name.
04:31 - 04:35
These leaders may want to have meetings to involve all
04:35 - 04:38
the followers so that decisions in the workplace can be
04:38 - 04:43
made effectively throughout all viewpoints and all viewpoints could be
04:43 - 04:45
stood on from everyone, everyone has to say, You know,
04:46 - 04:48
So next is keep the organization in mind which states
04:48 - 04:52
that when problems arise in the workplace, always remember that
04:52 - 04:54
what the mission of the organization really is, so that
04:55 - 04:58
you can always have that goal to remind yourself all
04:58 - 05:01
employees make a great contribution to the team so therefore
05:02 - 05:05
everyone needs to meet the mission and vision statements that
05:05 - 05:06
are presented for that career.
05:07 - 05:11
And the next slide, I have a few pinpoints of
05:13 - 05:16
um why being a transformational leader is important in which
05:17 - 05:18
I believe that these things are relevant to the work
05:19 - 05:23
place. So we have promotes positive dynamics and workplace encourage
05:23 - 05:28
positivity into employees, motivate employees to ultimately having having engaged
05:29 - 05:32
workforce where everyone to be successful in an organization's future.
05:33 - 05:38
So you know basically just um Mhm.
05:38 - 05:43
Being a just being positive, always being a leader for
05:43 - 05:49
everyone, you know just being that person that motivates everyone
05:49 - 05:51
had the same goal so that everyone's on the same
05:52 - 05:52
level, you know.
05:54 - 06:00
Mhm. Here we have the characteristics of great transformational leadership
06:01 - 06:05
which are continuously working to motivate employees to higher levels
06:05 - 06:09
of personal achievement, staying happy being considerate of employees, health
06:10 - 06:12
and well being for most safety of lifting everyone to
06:13 - 06:16
remain positive, stay one step ahead and recognize importance of
06:16 - 06:21
organization. So you know managers um example my job amazon
06:22 - 06:22
the managers there.
06:23 - 06:26
They do not have these characteristics of being a great
06:26 - 06:29
transformational leader because they don't care about them.
06:29 - 06:30
Plays health and well being.
06:31 - 06:33
They don't really promote safety like that.
06:33 - 06:37
I mean they try but it's not really something that
06:37 - 06:39
they really do, they don't really uplift and stay positive,
06:40 - 06:42
it's really negative sometime, you know, so they don't have
06:42 - 06:45
these things that motivate people to just want to do
06:45 - 06:46
better, you know?
06:46 - 06:55
Um here are a list of transformational leaders um randy
06:55 - 06:57
dobbs burner bas Davis taylor.
06:58 - 07:00
Um I'm really going to just talk about randy dogs
07:01 - 07:04
because he was a champion of transformation leadership and he
07:04 - 07:07
feels that without it workers are often worried about their
07:07 - 07:10
future because higher authority can always just change that split
07:10 - 07:12
second. So what I was just saying about my job
07:13 - 07:14
like higher authority than managers.
07:14 - 07:17
They had authorities to just take anything from us without
07:18 - 07:19
like us having any say.
07:19 - 07:23
So you know that's the type of workplace that transformation
07:23 - 07:29
leaders um are not really surviving in because that's just
07:30 - 07:30
the way it is sometimes.
07:31 - 07:36
And yeah, my thoughts on this was yeah, many thoughts
07:36 - 07:41
was easier reliable viewpoint for me because that's something that
07:41 - 07:41
I've been working through.
07:41 - 07:44
You know, fast food, retail, warehouse, anything like that.
07:45 - 07:46
That's usually what you get.
07:46 - 07:49
You don't get people who are into transformational leaders.
07:49 - 07:52
They're not those type of people, they're just workers just
07:52 - 07:52
like none.
07:53 - 07:57
And yeah, that concludes my um power point.
07:58 - 07:58
Thank you.
