  1. Hi there. My name is Hunter Baron. Today's date is June 16th
  2. and my verbal password is Eagle.
  3. Can you think of a time that stress was impacting your daily life,
  4. whether it's health, finances or relationships,
  5. there seems to constantly be something causing us stress or impacting our life
  6. that can make it difficult to stay focused, motivated or just feel at peace.
  7. I'm sure we can all think of a person
  8. in our life that struggled with managing their stress,
  9. whether that be a coworker family member or schoolmate.
  10. My name is Hunter Baron.
  11. And today I would like to talk to you
  12. about some coping methods for dealing with stress.
  13. First, I'm going to discuss how mindfulness can aid in coping with stress.
  14. Then I'm gonna dive into how writing down
  15. your stressors can help you manage your stress.
  16. And then I'm gonna discuss how breathing techniques
  17. have helped me in the past and can
  18. possibly help you.
  19. After all that,
  20. I'm gonna give you a quick demonstration about a breathing technique that I use.
  21. And you can also try for yourself
  22. when we're stressed, time is a luxury.
  23. So
  24. when it comes to mindfulness, mindfulness and awareness go hand in hand.
  25. Awareness allows us to
  26. bring our focus into something
  27. such as our senses. We can bring our focus into our touch, taste, smell,
  28. um sounds and doing this can help us take our
  29. mind off of our stressors and into the present moment.
  30. And along with living in the present moment,
  31. this helps us to observe our reactions to our stressors rather than
  32. judging them.
  33. And it helps us to take a step back and not judge our perception of things.
  34. Overall mindfulness is a great
  35. practice to help us deal and manage with stress.
  36. And sometimes when stress fill our minds, it can be hard to process all day.
  37. And I always recommend that people write their stressors down,
  38. writing us down,
  39. helps us stay accountable of those stress for stressors by giving us a
  40. visual representation rather than having to keep it all in her mind.
  41. Also getting all of it written down can help us look at it visually
  42. and see how we can better organize it and sort it based on importance
  43. and what's in our control and what's out of our control.
  44. That way we can focus on the things within our control and deal with those first.
  45. Also, sometimes we need to be able to cope with stress in the moment.
  46. I personally recommend doing this with breathwork.
  47. Breathwork has been a positive coping mechanism for me because
  48. you can do it just about anywhere, whether it's in the car,
  49. whether you're in a line at the grocery store,
  50. you can do breathwork to help you step away
  51. from your
  52. anxiety or stress and
  53. move your focus into something that's within your control.
  54. Another thing about adjusting our focus is it takes our
  55. focus away from our stress and on to our breath.
  56. And like I said,
  57. it's in our control and this can help us to feel more grounded and present.
  58. Another thing about breathwork is that because you can do it anywhere,
  59. it is accessible and basically unnoticeable for other people.
  60. So you will never feel uncomfortable needing to perform breathwork.
  61. One quick exercise that I wanted to allow you guys to try is inhaling for five seconds
  62. and exhaling for seven
  63. and then repeat until you feel a little bit more calm.
  64. These exercises have all had a positive impact on me and my coping mechanisms.
  65. And overall, it's very common
  66. to have stress and
  67. using these methods to help you cope and process things can help you overall and
  68. provide you with insight on how to better manage your stress in the future.
