00:00 - 00:02
Hi, everybody at Western Home Health.
00:02 - 00:04
It's Laura Machar to talk to you about your patient
00:05 - 00:07
experience scores for the month of January, so let's have
00:07 - 00:08
a look.
00:10 - 00:10
So here's your current state map.
00:11 - 00:15
Your targets 91.58 You guys air just shy of your
00:15 - 00:18
target at 90.7, though you're doing an excellent job.
00:19 - 00:20
I don't want to take away from that at all.
00:21 - 00:22
You're still up in the nineties.
00:22 - 00:23
I think that's phenomenal.
00:24 - 00:26
But let's kick in a little bit more, and I
00:26 - 00:28
know you'll be at your target next month where you're
00:29 - 00:30
at. You guys have had a really great year so
00:30 - 00:33
far. If you notice the trending across from October till
00:33 - 00:36
now, we only dipped down a little bit in November.
00:36 - 00:38
But really, it's just been a really good run.
00:40 - 00:40
Great increases.
00:41 - 00:42
So how long did he get?
00:42 - 00:46
Help and advice has jumped up 20% and getting help
00:47 - 00:47
or advice needed.
00:48 - 00:48
So I'm great.
00:49 - 00:50
It's great to hear how long to get help and
00:50 - 00:53
advice. We definitely wanna, you know, work on that.
00:54 - 00:57
Keep informed about arrival also, but just we want to
00:57 - 01:00
make sure that our families feel and patients feel that
01:01 - 01:03
they have the help they need, so that's really great
01:03 - 01:04
work contest.
01:05 - 01:07
So the winner of last month contest was Christie, Gerald's
01:08 - 01:09
or Garrels from Champagne?
01:10 - 01:13
Um, she won the contest for kept informed about arrival.
01:14 - 01:18
We had several people send in contest entries, telling me
01:18 - 01:20
about what they do to keep their family and patients
01:21 - 01:22
informed about arrival.
01:22 - 01:24
And I put everybody's name in a hat.
01:25 - 01:27
Christie's name came out, so she was the winner.
01:27 - 01:28
Gets a gift card.
01:28 - 01:31
It's in the mail now, and I would love to
01:31 - 01:33
be able to mail you a gift card for listening
01:34 - 01:34
carefully to you.
01:35 - 01:36
So that's this month's question.
01:37 - 01:39
Name one thing you're doing to truly show your patient
01:40 - 01:40
that you're listening.
01:41 - 01:42
Just put in the comment line contest.
01:43 - 01:44
Send it to me.
01:44 - 01:47
I'll put you in the hat for, uh, for a
01:47 - 01:47
gift card.
01:48 - 01:50
And hopefully your name will show up next month on
01:50 - 01:53
that and shirt tailing onto this.
01:53 - 01:54
Um, listen carefully.
01:55 - 01:57
This is a very busy slide, I know, but it
01:57 - 01:59
has great information on the left column.
02:00 - 02:00
You'll see.
02:00 - 02:03
Listen carefully explaining away you understand and kept informed about
02:04 - 02:07
arrival. Those are all key areas that we're focusing on
02:07 - 02:08
and in the middle.
02:09 - 02:11
It tells the best practice guidelines for each of those
02:12 - 02:17
questions. And when I talk about best practice, I want
02:17 - 02:21
you to understand that not just medical things such as
02:21 - 02:24
wound care or medications have best practice guidelines.
02:25 - 02:26
So does patient experience.
02:27 - 02:29
So when we listen carefully and we follow the forces
02:30 - 02:33
listening model or ate it and we do that, well,
02:33 - 02:36
we're doing best practice well, and that is what is
02:37 - 02:38
gonna lead us to this success.
02:38 - 02:42
So, um, with an example for best practice for listening,
02:43 - 02:45
it's evidence based through the providers behavior.
02:45 - 02:46
You're the provider.
02:46 - 02:52
So your body language, expressions of concern, empathic communication and
02:52 - 02:53
other demonstrations of understanding.
02:54 - 02:56
So, um, am I showing empathy?
02:57 - 02:59
Am I uncross ing my arms?
02:59 - 03:02
Do I commit to sit and look at my patient
03:02 - 03:05
in the eyes and and and my quiet and allow
03:05 - 03:07
them to tell me how things were going?
03:07 - 03:08
Do I use open ended questions?
03:09 - 03:12
Um, do I connect with my patient?
03:13 - 03:13
Do I show concern?
03:14 - 03:17
And in the example statement here from a patient, it
03:17 - 03:19
says, my home health nurse made me feel like I
03:19 - 03:22
was her only patient, and she could spend as much
03:22 - 03:24
time as I needed talking with her.
03:24 - 03:27
She truly listens to me and truly cares.
03:28 - 03:30
So just thinking about that.
03:30 - 03:33
It's about the feeling you leave that patient with, right?
03:34 - 03:36
So when I leave the house, how are you?
03:36 - 03:37
How is your patient feeling?
03:37 - 03:40
Do they feel like you just really gave them your
03:40 - 03:44
full attention That you made them feel like they were
03:44 - 03:44
your only patient?
03:45 - 03:49
I know we don't spend five hours talking to a
03:49 - 03:51
patient, and we shouldn't, right.
03:51 - 03:54
But we should make them feel like we gave them
03:54 - 03:56
our attention and that we really care.
03:56 - 03:59
And so that there's lots of ways of doing that.
03:59 - 04:03
And following best practice guidelines will get us there and
04:04 - 04:06
so to find, to finalize our talk today.
04:06 - 04:06
Positive comments.
04:07 - 04:08
Look at all the positive comments.
04:09 - 04:11

04:23 - 04:23

04:46 - 04:49
Please keep working on keeping informed about arrival, making sure
04:49 - 04:52
that we're doing good communication every time, Every patient, every
04:53 - 04:56
time, right, And we're listening and we're explaining things in
04:56 - 04:56
a way.
04:56 - 04:57
We understand.
04:57 - 04:59
And we know that because we did a teach back,
04:59 - 05:01
right? Say to your patients.
05:02 - 05:03
So share my share with me.
05:03 - 05:06

05:07 - 05:09
You know, whatever it is you're working with them on,
05:10 - 05:12
do an open ended question and then you can find
05:13 - 05:14
out if they if they got everything.
05:14 - 05:16
