00:02 - 00:02
Hi,
00:02 - 00:05
I'm Howard brooks is and I'm a managing director with valente in
00:05 - 00:10
Miami florida and this is my part two video about the 1st 24
00:10 - 00:14
months of a valente franchise and things that you might want to
00:14 - 00:17
consider if you were to do your own projections and a business plan
00:18 - 00:20
For a Valente franchise.
00:20 - 00:26
So let's start by thinking about some of the companies longer term visions.
00:27 - 00:32
Now, the company's visions for 2027 are to have 500 managing partners globally.
00:32 - 00:34
500 franchises
00:34 - 00:38
and have half of those in north America between the US and Canada.
00:39 - 00:43
When we reach um 500 managing partners globally,
00:43 - 00:45
we believe we will be at a billion dollars
00:45 - 00:49
in revenue and that works out to basically having
00:49 - 00:53
500 of those partners bring onboard clients um that
00:53 - 00:55
are going to stick with us clients for life,
00:55 - 00:57
let's call them um every other month.
00:57 - 00:58
So six a year
00:59 - 01:01
And having those six clients
01:01 - 01:05
Have recurring revenues of at least $5,000 a month now
01:05 - 01:08
$5,000 a month could be to entry level people,
01:08 - 01:14
a non entry level person and a half about and a half on a full time basis,
01:14 - 01:15
it could be anything.
01:15 - 01:17
But we just took that number,
01:17 - 01:20
5000 because it seemed like a nice round number and it seemed very attainable.
01:20 - 01:24
And if we play that out over 500 managing partners
01:24 - 01:27
with customers only coming on board every other month,
01:27 - 01:28
that's what it comes out to.
01:28 - 01:31
But I would encourage you to kind of go through the same kind of exercise.
01:31 - 01:34
If you were to do some projections and think about how many
01:34 - 01:38
clients you might bring on board every month or every quarter and
01:38 - 01:42
think about what they might be bringing in terms of recurring revenue
01:42 - 01:45
or one time revenue and do some projections based off of that.
01:46 - 01:49
I can make a business plan available to you if you like as a template
01:49 - 01:52
to kind of think about other things that you might want to plan for.
01:52 - 01:54
But we can talk about that offline
01:55 - 01:56
now,
01:56 - 01:58
something else you're gonna want to think about once
01:58 - 02:01
you get to that 24 month timeframe is.
02:01 - 02:05
What's next? Do you want to continue as a solo preneurs?
02:05 - 02:08
Uh maybe you've actually brought on board
02:08 - 02:10
people already before the 24 month timeframe,
02:10 - 02:13
but that 24 month timeframe is a good time to think about
02:13 - 02:17
what's next for your business. So you want to continue as an owner operator.
02:17 - 02:20
Do you want to bring on board people to work for
02:20 - 02:24
you as a 1099 type contractor as either a consultant,
02:24 - 02:26
business development executive,
02:26 - 02:28
maybe you want to bring on board and executive assistant.
02:29 - 02:31
You certainly can do some of these things with virtual staff.
02:31 - 02:34
I brought on board virtual assistance.
02:34 - 02:36
Gosh, I think in my third or four month,
02:36 - 02:40
third or fourth month I brought on board Inside Sales type folks,
02:40 - 02:44
telemarketer tech folks offshore to assist me.
02:44 - 02:48
These things are available to you, you know right away or as you progress,
02:48 - 02:50
but there's certainly things you want to think about
02:50 - 02:52
At the 24 month timeframe
02:52 - 02:53
now,
02:53 - 02:55
something that you also might want to think about is
02:55 - 03:00
potentially purchasing an additional franchise and you don't have to,
03:00 - 03:01
it's something that is available to you.
03:01 - 03:03
We really want people to be successful in
03:04 - 03:06
one franchise before they would purchase another one.
03:06 - 03:06
But
03:07 - 03:10
buying additional franchises might make sense for you
03:10 - 03:12
if you really wanted to focus on,
03:12 - 03:13
um, you know, smaller,
03:13 - 03:18
mid sized businesses that are very geographically um specific, you know,
03:18 - 03:20
say you wanted to go after accountants or
03:20 - 03:23
attorneys or doctors or insurance companies um,
03:23 - 03:27
in a specific market, like I go after some of those in Miami, well,
03:27 - 03:32
if I wanted to go after those types of businesses in Memphis or um, I don't know,
03:32 - 03:35
new Orleans or boston or something like that,
03:35 - 03:37
I would want to buy another valente franchise to
03:37 - 03:42
really do kind of correct um direct marketing,
03:42 - 03:45
direct prospecting to that type of business in another market.
03:46 - 03:48
You're certainly welcome to work your network wherever it
03:48 - 03:50
takes you in the world or the country,
03:50 - 03:55
but if you really want to focus on that type of business, uh, you know,
03:55 - 03:58
another valente franchise is an option for you, but it doesn't have to be,
03:58 - 04:02
it's really up to you, but again, something to consider something to think about
04:04 - 04:05
now,
04:05 - 04:08
as you think about your valente franchise and maybe doing a business plan,
04:08 - 04:10
you might want to think about about why
04:10 - 04:13
people engage with us from a consulting perspective,
04:13 - 04:16
they really engage with us because there's a lack of experience,
04:17 - 04:20
lack of expertise, they need an external opinion.
04:20 - 04:21
Maybe they think they know what they want,
04:21 - 04:25
but they're not really sure they want an external unbiased opinion to weigh in
04:26 - 04:30
on digital transformation. There is just a huge lack of experience in R. P.
04:30 - 04:33
A box and stuff like that, the SMB community.
04:33 - 04:35
So we really get called in for that reason
04:35 - 04:39
and then for staff augmentation, if I've heard it once, I've heard it 1000 times,
04:39 - 04:42
people just can't find people to work for a lot of the jobs that they're trying to
04:42 - 04:45
fill and oftentimes they can't fill them for the
04:45 - 04:47
budget that they have in mind as well.
04:47 - 04:49
So that's why people reach out to us and again,
04:49 - 04:53
think about this as you're starting to do your own type of business plan
04:54 - 04:56
now, in terms of where you should focus your time,
04:56 - 05:01
we really want you focused on mid sized companies, mid sized companies,
05:01 - 05:04
50 to 552,000 type employees,
05:04 - 05:07
you're going to be able to offer all of the
05:07 - 05:10
services that we provide to those types of clients.
05:10 - 05:13
They'll be interested in staff augmentation, they'll be interested in
05:14 - 05:15
consulting engagements,
05:15 - 05:17
they'll be interested in digital transformation projects,
05:18 - 05:21
They're really a good fit for all of those projects.
05:21 - 05:24
We like to have people shy away from large enterprises because the
05:24 - 05:29
sales cycles are so long also onboarding as a new vendor can
05:29 - 05:33
be very complicated and complex and unless you've got a coach to
05:33 - 05:38
really help you walk you through that at that enterprise large enterprise,
05:38 - 05:40
we we advise against it
05:40 - 05:42
for sure they'd be interested in all the
05:42 - 05:44
services but sometimes they're more headache than they're worth
05:45 - 05:46
now. Smaller businesses.
05:46 - 05:48
They're great, especially for virtual staff,
05:48 - 05:52
you might want to start focusing a little bit more of your time in the very beginning,
05:52 - 05:53
once you get going on this area,
05:53 - 05:56
they're really great customers for virtual staffing,
05:56 - 05:59
but typically they're usually not a fit for, you know,
05:59 - 06:03
larger consulting engagements or even mid sized consulting engagements.
06:03 - 06:05
And sometimes there's just not enough work
06:05 - 06:10
um of the same type um that are fit for digital transformation in R. P. A.
06:10 - 06:14
But they definitely make great virtual staffing opportunities
06:14 - 06:17
and we definitely have clients in this area.
06:17 - 06:20
But anyways something to focus on, something to think about
06:22 - 06:23
what else
06:23 - 06:26
in terms of lead generation, this is something you don't want to think about.
06:26 - 06:30
And this slide is kind of an eye chart maybe I'll try to bring this up a bit.
06:31 - 06:34
So this is coming from our crm and it's really talking
06:34 - 06:37
about where our leads come from and it doesn't really help
06:37 - 06:41
you as a new franchise C but the first source of
06:41 - 06:44
business for us is really existing clients expanding their footprint.
06:44 - 06:48
So you know, months, one through three months, you know, uh
06:48 - 06:51
You know, three through 12, it's not going to be as big a factor,
06:51 - 06:54
but clients will add on services.
06:54 - 06:55
And I've seen this in my own practice.
06:56 - 06:56
Now,
06:56 - 07:00
the third source of new business for us is actually referrals from existing clients
07:00 - 07:04
to people that they do business with. And I've definitely seen this as well.
07:04 - 07:08
But the second biggest source of leads for us
07:08 - 07:10
in terms of business set has been closed,
07:10 - 07:14
we would kind of put in this online marketing category and it's broken
07:14 - 07:17
out a little bit to the left in terms of email campaigns,
07:17 - 07:20
google adwords campaign, social media campaigns,
07:20 - 07:23
leads coming in through the website that could be driven by
07:23 - 07:25
social campaigns or email campaigns.
07:25 - 07:28
Um this is really where kind of that prospecting,
07:28 - 07:32
most of the prospecting um comes through and pays off.
07:32 - 07:36
So something that you probably want to focus on a lot of the first year,
07:36 - 07:40
definitely those months one through three, but there's other ways that we have seen
07:40 - 07:43
business clothes and it's attending conferences,
07:43 - 07:46
it's external referrals from centers of influence in our network,
07:47 - 07:51
its advertising in local trade journals, it is
07:52 - 07:55
partners providing US leads, etcetera, but you know,
07:55 - 07:59
things to think about and um you know, to keep in mind that, you know,
07:59 - 08:01
once you get rolling, you know,
08:01 - 08:04
you are going to have some flywheel of success type of dynamic,
08:04 - 08:08
once you bring on board your first customers and it's really important to take care
08:08 - 08:10
of them so that they're happy and they're
08:10 - 08:12
making referrals and they're expanding their footprint.
08:14 - 08:21
So in terms of money that you can spend to drive some prospecting activity, um,
08:21 - 08:24
you know, advertising in a trade journal might be $500 a month.
08:24 - 08:29
A lot of um, you know, smaller cities or even mid size and larger cities have
08:30 - 08:32
specific business magazines that make sense
08:32 - 08:36
or business portals to advertise on joining
08:36 - 08:40
a chamber of commerce could be a great use of time and money.
08:40 - 08:44
And typically those are also around the $500 amount.
08:44 - 08:50
Um, you could attend trade shows, we've seen trade shows for $3000 10,000 dollars,
08:50 - 08:52
you know, $5000 to 25 K is a,
08:52 - 08:54
you know, a good number to think about.
08:54 - 08:57
And again you can split those with other managing partners if that makes sense.
08:58 - 09:02
And then social media, whether it's google adwords linkedin campaigns,
09:02 - 09:04
facebook or instagram campaigns,
09:04 - 09:07
you typically need to spend $20 a day on
09:07 - 09:09
those types of activities and then they pay results,
09:10 - 09:13
Email campaigns can be free or maybe $100 a month
09:13 - 09:16
to pay for a tool to do drip email campaigns.
09:16 - 09:20
I use a tool that is exactly like that and then I really like it
09:21 - 09:22
and email campaigns,
09:22 - 09:25
it's really a numbers game just gotta throw a lot of stuff out there.
09:25 - 09:27
Well thought out injury pig mail campaigns,
09:27 - 09:30
but you will get some leads coming through from that
09:30 - 09:34
and then there's things that come with no cost client referrals,
09:34 - 09:38
existing client referrals, partner referrals and public relations.
09:40 - 09:44
Now, other things to think about before you join Valente.
09:44 - 09:46
And as you're doing a business plan,
09:46 - 09:49
we really want you to focus on what industry vertical,
09:49 - 09:52
what market do you really want to focus on?
09:52 - 09:53
Most of our managing partners?
09:53 - 09:56
Focus on something that we're particularly good at or
09:56 - 09:58
have a lot of clients with maybe accounting,
09:58 - 10:00
maybe law, maybe medical,
10:00 - 10:02
maybe financial planners and then something
10:02 - 10:04
that they're particularly good at and an
10:04 - 10:08
industry that they have a passion for that they have an expertise in.
10:08 - 10:11
But as you're building out your business plan, think about that,
10:11 - 10:14
think about the two or three industries you really want to focus on
10:14 - 10:16
because you don't want to boil the ocean.
10:16 - 10:19
You want to have some focus and you really want to become an expert.
10:19 - 10:22
There's a lot of sMB s out there and you really want to, you know,
10:22 - 10:27
just focus and you know, when you're focused and aimed properly,
10:27 - 10:28
you'll get decent results.
10:29 - 10:32
What else in terms of close ratios.
10:32 - 10:35
This is also something you're gonna want to consider as you
10:35 - 10:38
do some projections and I've always wanted to have a sales
10:38 - 10:43
funnel that was three times maybe four times if possible what
10:43 - 10:47
I wanted to book and I see closed ratios within valente
10:47 - 10:51
in that one out of 31 out of four ratio, once it's in the funnel, once there's
10:52 - 10:55
qualified that, hey, they understand the offer.
10:55 - 10:59
They do have a need, they do have a budget and they are interested in a quote.
10:59 - 11:05
Um, the close ratio we definitely see is that one out of 31 out of four rate.
11:05 - 11:09
Historically the company has seen a 15% close right from the very beginning,
11:09 - 11:13
but definitely in the last couple of years we've been running at that 25 to 30% rate
11:16 - 11:17
then. What else? Okay.
11:17 - 11:21
We do get together uh, quarterly right now in different cities.
11:21 - 11:25
We've got a conference coming up in Toronto next month by the time you see this,
11:25 - 11:26
that might have passed.
11:26 - 11:29
But we're constantly getting together on a quarterly basis in
11:29 - 11:33
a hybrid way where people can attend in person or virtually
11:33 - 11:38
At some point in time. Probably in 2024 we will start to focus on larger,
11:39 - 11:39
um,
11:40 - 11:44
kick off meetings. Annual conferences. Either North America or the EU or Australia
11:46 - 11:51
and here's a picture or two from our last conference in March.
11:51 - 11:52
This was a hybrid meeting.
11:52 - 11:57
So we had all the folks from the EU and Australia attending virtually and about half
11:57 - 12:01
the folks in North America were able to attend and it was a good time.
12:01 - 12:03
You know, we got some team building activities
12:03 - 12:06
and we talked a lot about business and success
12:06 - 12:09
stories and it was great to be together.
12:11 - 12:12
So again,
12:12 - 12:16
these are basically the steps to becoming a franchise owner at this point in time.
12:16 - 12:19
You would have had the introduction call, um,
12:19 - 12:22
you would have had the franchise opportunity presentation.
12:22 - 12:24
Hopefully you've attended to meet the team.
12:24 - 12:26
If you haven't, please go back and do that,
12:26 - 12:30
you get the opportunity to meet with people you actually would be working with.
12:30 - 12:32
And then this is the 1st 24 months
12:32 - 12:35
from here. You can attend another meet the team.
12:35 - 12:38
You can start to get the franchise documentation.
12:38 - 12:39
But I think more importantly,
12:39 - 12:43
is starting to put together a business plan to see if this would work for you.
12:43 - 12:45
Start to do some projections start to think
12:45 - 12:47
about what a business plan would look like.
12:47 - 12:49
Once, if you like what you see,
12:49 - 12:51
you're probably gonna want to join and we can take
12:51 - 12:54
the rest of the steps on this chart and and get
12:54 - 12:57
you on board typically from the time and decide you want
12:57 - 12:59
to join to the time you can be on board.
12:59 - 13:02
We're talking about 30 days. So please
13:02 - 13:05
ask us what other information that you need
13:05 - 13:06
in terms of
13:06 - 13:11
um, yeah, putting together a business plan, putting together some projections,
13:11 - 13:14
putting together some thoughts on what this might look like for you and we'll
13:14 - 13:17
help you to figure out if this is a good business for you.
13:18 - 13:21
Um, again, here's where we're located around the world
13:22 - 13:25
and I think that is all I have for you today.
13:25 - 13:29
So thank you so much for your time, your attention to this.
13:29 - 13:32
I look forward to talking to you in person,
13:32 - 13:37
taking a deeper dive discussion on any of these topics and
13:37 - 13:40
walking you through, assisting you and the rest of your journey,
13:40 - 13:43
determining whether this is a good fit for you and then helping
13:43 - 13:45
you join if that is something that you want to do,
13:46 - 13:47
thanks.
