More.
00:17 - 00:18
Um,
00:21 - 00:26
hi, my name is Millie Dressler. I graduated high school in 2023
00:26 - 00:28
and I began college last fall.
00:28 - 00:30
I'm the youngest of three siblings
00:30 - 00:32
who were homeschooled completely through school.
00:32 - 00:36
And I grew up in a very, very tiny farm town about 30 minutes outside of Topeka,
00:36 - 00:37
Kansas.
00:37 - 00:39
I was born a whole month premature
00:40 - 00:40
when I was born,
00:40 - 00:44
the umbilical cord was wrapped Romanic twice and it was tied in a knot.
00:45 - 00:48
I participated in many, many extracurricular activities
00:49 - 00:50
uh um in
00:50 - 00:51
middle and high school.
00:52 - 00:55
Those included basketball. I played volleyball.
00:55 - 00:57
I participated in track and field.
00:57 - 01:01
I was a football manager and I sang in the choir for seven years
01:01 - 01:05
outside of all those things. I love going fishing with my dad
01:05 - 01:06
attending rodeos,
01:07 - 01:07
um
01:08 - 01:09
solving nervous cubes.
01:09 - 01:13
And I also love writing down all the funny things that my friends and family say
01:13 - 01:15
and being able to look back on those.
01:16 - 01:18
I took some college credits while I was still in high school,
01:18 - 01:22
but I officially began college last fall at Washburn University
01:22 - 01:23
this semester.
01:23 - 01:28
However, I am at Allen County for two classes and then Washburn Tech for two classes
01:28 - 01:32
as I work toward a surgical technology degree.
01:33 - 01:35
I'm currently in the application process for
01:35 - 01:38
the surgical technology program at Washburn Tech.
01:38 - 01:40
And if all goes according to plan,
01:40 - 01:44
I will start school this summer and then graduate next spring and
01:44 - 01:46
hopefully begin working in the hospital as soon as I can.
01:48 - 01:52
Um I find the human body super fascinating and I also
01:52 - 01:55
love assisting people in any way that I possibly can.
01:55 - 01:57
And both of those things were kind of just
01:57 - 02:01
pivotal in helping me find surgical technology for one
02:01 - 02:03
and two. Deciding to pursue it
02:04 - 02:07
being successful in this class would help me gain
02:07 - 02:09
confidence and teach me the skills that I need
02:09 - 02:12
to be a more effective professional speaker.
02:12 - 02:16
It will also help prepare me for the interviews that I will
02:16 - 02:19
have to go through for my hospital jobs in the future.
02:19 - 02:21
I am super excited to learn alongside all of you
02:22 - 02:24
and hopefully get to know you better throughout the semester.
02:24 - 02:25
Thank you for being here.
02:26 - 02:29
Um And letting me tell you a little bit about my life.
02:30 - 02:30
Ok?
