00:02 - 00:02
Hello, parents.
00:03 - 00:04
My name is Amanda Rogers.
00:05 - 00:08
I am working in grade six and seven this year.
00:08 - 00:11
I'm a special educator at the middle school and have
00:11 - 00:14
been working there since 2000 and seven.
00:15 - 00:17
Um, in my time at Dover ship in middle school,
00:18 - 00:22
I have been uneducated, ill assistant, a special education liaison
00:23 - 00:27
and currently the language based specialist and still a special
00:28 - 00:28
education liaison.
00:29 - 00:32
Um, to take a look at my roles this year.
00:33 - 00:35
I have added in that I am a team leader
00:36 - 00:39
for Grade six moon team, Um, continuing to be special
00:40 - 00:43
education liaison for many of your Children, Um, the language
00:44 - 00:47
based specialist for the middle school, grades six through eight
00:47 - 00:49
and also an academic support teacher.
00:51 - 00:54
Um, to take a closer look at these roles.
00:54 - 00:57
Um, as the team leader for the moon team in
00:57 - 01:00
grade six, I am kind of a go to person
01:00 - 01:05
for team moon parents or families and students to help
01:06 - 01:09
the Children navigate who they need to be speaking with
01:09 - 01:12
about a concern or topic helping them navigate the building,
01:13 - 01:18
organizing their assignments or their needs, and also working with
01:18 - 01:22
the other team members or teachers on the team to
01:22 - 01:25
collaborate together and make your child's learning experience the best
01:25 - 01:26
that it could be in middle school.
01:29 - 01:32
As my role as a liaison for special education, I
01:33 - 01:36
oversee three I p process for students in grades six
01:37 - 01:41
and seven Right now on my caseload, Um, from myself
01:42 - 01:45
to those families, they will have communications with me in
01:45 - 01:49
regards to their child's learning plans for the year, Um,
01:49 - 01:52
and how their I P s will translate for remote
01:52 - 01:54
times and in person learning times.
01:55 - 01:58
You'll receive progress reports from me about your I P,
01:59 - 02:02
um, goals for your child at the end of every
02:02 - 02:02
marking period.
02:03 - 02:06
And we will have annual I P meetings or revival
02:07 - 02:10
meetings throughout the year to assess your child's current needs
02:11 - 02:13
and where we can best support them in the upcoming
02:14 - 02:20
year. Going forward in my language based instructional block.
02:20 - 02:22
If your child is scheduled into that period with me,
02:23 - 02:26
we work on the decoding process of reading using the
02:26 - 02:27
Wilson program.
02:27 - 02:31
Additionally, we work on their reading fluency, skills and comprehension
02:32 - 02:36
skills using the real life or read naturally program, um,
02:36 - 02:40
and a few other comprehension programs that have been picked
02:40 - 02:41
through along the way.
02:43 - 02:46
Additionally, if your child is scheduled with me for an
02:46 - 02:49
academic support block, that would occur during their h block
02:49 - 02:53
time and we really focus on the executive function skills,
02:53 - 02:57
Long term planning, um, how to study properly for different
02:58 - 03:01
types of assessments and, um, classes.
03:02 - 03:05
We make a lot of schedules and plans for how
03:05 - 03:08
to structure our Wednesday work days so far, how to
03:08 - 03:12
navigate for to and from zooms and teachers and how
03:12 - 03:14
to contact people in the best way.
03:16 - 03:20
In addition to academic support and language based classes, I'm
03:20 - 03:24
also co teaching English classes in both six and seventh
03:24 - 03:25
grade this year.
03:25 - 03:29
So if your child is in an English class, um,
03:29 - 03:32
that I am supporting or co teaching with their teacher,
03:32 - 03:35
then they will also see me in there, helping them,
03:35 - 03:39
along with the writing process and reading process in their
03:39 - 03:46
English. For all of these roles, if your child is
03:47 - 03:50
running into me along their day or you and I
03:50 - 03:54
have ah better relationship because of special education needs for
03:54 - 03:57
your child, the best way always to contact me is
03:57 - 03:58
through email.
03:58 - 04:01
Um, if a follow up phone call is needed, then
04:01 - 04:04
It is always a really simple task to schedule that
04:04 - 04:07
through email, but that's the easiest way to get in
04:07 - 04:07
touch with me.
04:08 - 04:11
My email is Rogers R O G E R S
04:12 - 04:16
A. For Amanda at Dover Sherbourne dot or GE I
04:16 - 04:18
am very excited to be working with your Children this
04:18 - 04:21
year in a crazy, crazy time, but they have so
04:22 - 04:26
far been gems through the whole process, and I'm excited
04:26 - 04:29
to watch them grow and learn and adapt to our
04:30 - 04:31
world around us right now.
04:31 - 04:35
So I hope you, um, have enjoyed watching all of
04:35 - 04:38
these videos tonight or today whenever you get a chance
04:38 - 04:40
to do them and please reach out with any questions
04:41 - 04:42
or concerns along the way.
04:43 - 04:43
Take care.
