00:00 - 00:03
Hi, my name is Jose Manuel Barrios and my pop
00:03 - 00:05
culture phenomenon is on the marvel cinematic universe.
00:09 - 00:12
Okay, I want to start off by um saying that
00:12 - 00:14
these movies are really entertaining.
00:15 - 00:19
Um there are 22 movies total so far and they
00:19 - 00:20
all span within 10 years.
00:21 - 00:24
Um And so each of these movies, they all tie
00:25 - 00:25
in with one another.
00:26 - 00:29
There isn't one movie that isn't like irrelevant to that
00:29 - 00:33
story. These movies are very popular with different audiences and
00:34 - 00:36
what I mean by that is that people of all
00:37 - 00:40
age groups enjoy these types of films and lastly, I
00:40 - 00:43
want to point out is the impact that these movies
00:43 - 00:45
had on the movie industry.
00:46 - 00:50
Um These movies have generated billions and billions of dollars
00:50 - 00:51
in the movie industry.
00:53 - 00:55
I would like to also talk about the importance of
00:55 - 00:59
these movies um starting with that these movies support movements
01:00 - 01:02
and what I mean by that is that there are
01:03 - 01:06
various scenes, for example, um in these films that show
01:07 - 01:11
women empowerment, for example, in Avengers Endgame towards the end,
01:11 - 01:16
there's this scene where all the female superheroes gather um
01:16 - 01:18
together and they fight the building and it's a really,
01:19 - 01:22
you know, really important part in the movie and it,
01:22 - 01:24
you know, sends a strong message out to the audience,
01:25 - 01:27
secondly it brings people together.
01:27 - 01:30
So every time a new marvel movie comes out for
01:31 - 01:35
example, um me and my friends, we always get together
01:35 - 01:38
and we always planted months in advance um we kind
01:38 - 01:40
of planned the whole day, make it a really like
01:40 - 01:43
special day um so it's kind of like a celebration
01:44 - 01:48
almost and lastly is the character development and what I
01:48 - 01:51
mean by that is after you start watching, you know
01:51 - 01:54
these movies, you really get invested in these characters and
01:54 - 01:54
these characters lives.
01:56 - 02:00
You know, 11 gets to experience, you know the journey
02:00 - 02:02
that these characters go through and you kind of feel
02:02 - 02:07
like you also go through these, you know, um things
02:07 - 02:07
with the characters.
02:08 - 02:10
Um you know, you feel like you kind of experience,
02:11 - 02:13
you know what they're experiencing or what they're going through
02:13 - 02:19
kind of relating to the character next is the sociological
02:19 - 02:23
perspective. So the perspective that I chose was interaction is
02:23 - 02:26
um and the reason why I chose interaction is um
02:26 - 02:30
is because actions and things associated with this phenomenon are
02:31 - 02:33
for example, going to a local theater, watching these movies
02:33 - 02:36
with your friends or your families um and you're experiencing,
02:37 - 02:40
you know these movies, you know with other people interacting
02:41 - 02:41
with other people.
02:42 - 02:48
For example, let's say you Youtube Endgame audience reaction videos,
02:48 - 02:51
you'll see a whole bunch of videos of people just
02:51 - 02:54
interacting with each other because of these movies kind of
02:54 - 03:04
brings people together little background in history on these movies.
03:06 - 03:08
Three really important figures that have a lot to do
03:09 - 03:10
with these movies and I have a lot to do
03:10 - 03:12
with the success of these movies.
03:12 - 03:13
Is Stanley.
03:14 - 03:18
Kevin Fagan robert Downey Jr um Stanley of course is
03:18 - 03:21
the creator of the majority of these superheroes.
03:22 - 03:26
So without Stanley, these superheroes would have never been created
03:27 - 03:30
and you know turned into what it is now.
03:31 - 03:34
Um Kevin Faggy, he's the president of marvel.
03:34 - 03:37
Um so he oversees, you know all the movies and
03:37 - 03:38
really states and T.
03:38 - 03:39
V. Shows and all that stuff.
03:40 - 03:43
He's in charge of um like the movies and tv
03:43 - 03:48
shows and lastly is robert Downey Jr um as most
03:48 - 03:52
people know him as Ironman, his movie, his standalone movie,
03:52 - 03:55
Iron Man was released in 2000 and eight and it
03:55 - 03:58
pretty much kick started the whole marvel cinematic universe.
03:59 - 04:02
So one can say he's a pioneer and he still
04:02 - 04:05
has a lot to do with um or he had
04:05 - 04:08
a lot to do with these movies and he had
04:08 - 04:13
a lot of influence and saying, you know, um you
04:13 - 04:15
know, he had a lot to do with these movies
04:17 - 04:21
now. What's new with my pop culture phenomenon is rumors
04:22 - 04:24
of course of new movies and tv shows that are
04:24 - 04:25
coming out.
04:25 - 04:29
So the movies that are coming out, these are highly
04:29 - 04:33
anticipated in upcoming movies that are bound to be released
04:33 - 04:33
in the future.
04:34 - 04:36
We have fan favorites like Black Widow, Spider Man, Doctor
04:37 - 04:39
Strange and you're all coming out with new movies, you
04:39 - 04:42
know, sometime in the near future and we have a
04:42 - 04:45
new character still being introduced in this new phase of
04:45 - 04:51
marvel movies for example, like when She Next we have
04:52 - 04:55
Tv shows and of course one division and the Falcon
04:55 - 04:57
and the Winter Soldier have been released on Disney Plus
04:58 - 05:01
and you know people are you know talking highly of
05:01 - 05:06
these shows, they're super popular and of course we also
05:06 - 05:08
have upcoming tv shows like Loki and Hawker.
05:12 - 05:15
Now here we have three new pieces of additional information
05:16 - 05:19
as to why and how this pop culture phenomena is
05:19 - 05:22
so popular starting with the first one, the cast Stewart
05:23 - 05:25
laid writes in an article saying that the cast is
05:25 - 05:27
the you know big reason why these movies are so
05:28 - 05:31
popular and um it's true you know um these movies
05:32 - 05:35
have such huge casts and you know such you know
05:35 - 05:38
really good characters that people really care about and are
05:39 - 05:39
really fans of.
05:41 - 05:42
So yeah I would say for the most part the
05:42 - 05:44
cast is definitely one of the reasons why these movies
05:44 - 05:44
are so popular.
05:46 - 05:51
Secondly 9 11 So um writers, our Nav Das Sharma
05:52 - 05:56
and a new palm Kant verma Believe that after the
05:56 - 06:04
tragedy of 9 11 superhero movies pretty much um started
06:05 - 06:10
getting more popular because these movies depict the good versus
06:10 - 06:10
the evil.
06:10 - 06:13
So of course that applies in the world world um
06:13 - 06:16
which is why they made that connection between superhero movies
06:16 - 06:17
and you know, 9 11.
06:18 - 06:23
And lastly this article talks about how uh they use
06:24 - 06:27
marvel movies or they use scenes from marvel movies to
06:27 - 06:28
start studying class.
06:29 - 06:33
For example, in the superhero movies, sciences discussed many times
06:33 - 06:33
in these films.
06:34 - 06:38
So the classroom uses these scenes where science is involved
06:39 - 06:41
and they apply them to real life situations and they
06:42 - 06:45
see how realistic these scenes are, which makes it um
06:46 - 06:47
you know, a pretty fun way to learn.
06:47 - 06:48
Um in class.
06:52 - 06:55
Now, in conclusion, what I've learned about my pop culture
06:55 - 06:59
phenomenon, it's just help big and huge.
07:00 - 07:05
It's really impacted the movie industry, making billions and billions
07:05 - 07:06
of dollars in revenue.
07:07 - 07:10
Um Just an overall, the popularity that it's been getting
07:11 - 07:14
and still receiving, especially with since one division and The
07:15 - 07:20
Falcon and the Winter Soldier, um these movies and you
07:20 - 07:24
know, these characters are going to continue to grow and
07:24 - 07:29
of course they have the potential To make these next
07:30 - 07:33
10 years even more profitable and bigger than the last
07:33 - 07:33
10 years.
07:34 - 07:37
Um They have an opportunity to introduce a lot of
07:37 - 07:41
new characters and continue stories from previous characters and previous
07:42 - 07:47
fan favorites and bring the, the fan favorites and of
07:47 - 07:49
course the new characters and you know, start a story
07:50 - 07:50
with those.
07:51 - 07:53
And so, I mean, the potential for my pop culture
07:54 - 07:55
phenomenon is limitless.
07:56 - 07:58
They can really go anywhere they want to go and
07:59 - 08:02
I'm sure that it will still be relevant These next
08:02 - 08:05
10 years and they'll still be as big, if not
08:05 - 08:09
bigger. Um, That is my pop culture phenomenon on the
08:09 - 08:10
marvel cinematic universe.
08:11 - 08:11
Thank you so much.
