  1. By the age of 12 or 13, I made it
  2. to the second highest team and I was comfortable there.
  3. I made a strong bond with everybody on the team
  4. and I am in fact still in contact with them
  5. and I was glad I made it there.
  6. I got a lot of opportunities to play for the
  7. highest team, but I didn't think I was ready because
  8. the coaches said I probably want to get a lot
  9. of playing time, so I decided to stay on the
  10. team that I was on and as I got older,
  11. I started getting in my head more, I still do,
  12. but I got on myself from making mistakes and I
  13. constantly told myself maybe I'm not good enough to be
  14. on like a high elite team, you know, and it
  15. was freshman year when I was able to try out
  16. for the Jefferson Academy girls soccer team, that was the
  17. one thing I was excited for.
  18. Like I played in middle school, I was excited to
  19. go to high school and just play for this amazing
  20. group of girls.
  21. And when I walked in the tryouts, my mindset told
  22. me I was going to be on JV because I
  23. did not believe I could be on varsity and I
  24. was really discouraged because there were many great players trying
  25. out and I was nervous and all that anxiety and
  26. stress got into my head and I just kept telling
  27. myself I'm going to make it on JV, I'm going
  28. to make it on JV.
  29. But as long as I made a team, I was
  30. fine. So we played and we tried out and I
  31. made it on JV and I was, I wasn't surprised
  32. because of course I kept telling myself I was gonna
  33. make it on JV and I was just ready to
  34. play my heart out.
  35. And it was our first game, we were playing against
  36. Stanley Lake and we tied 0-0.
  37. But I remember in the first three seconds of the
  38. game I dribbled through like 10 players and I was
  39. super fast and it just felt really good to be
  40. playing. But I knew I prove something of the coaches
  41. because when I got home I was like, mom, I
  42. think I'm ready to text coach and ask her what
  43. I can do to get better so I can play
  44. varsity. And she texted me back that night.
  45. She said, I think you're doing great, there's gonna be
  46. many opportunities and I think you'll be good at verse
  47. or what, you know.
