00:01 - 00:01
Everybody,
00:01 - 00:04
my name is Alexandra homes and today I'm
00:04 - 00:07
doing my chapter 17 presentation on what are the
00:07 - 00:10
three days that I learned in this chapter that
00:10 - 00:12
will allow someone to become a good manager.
00:13 - 00:15
So the first thing that I read about
00:15 - 00:18
was the Hershey blanchard's situational leadership theory.
00:18 - 00:22
So the people that came up with this theory are named paul Hershey and
00:22 - 00:24
ken blanchard and basically this is a
00:24 - 00:28
contingency theory that focuses on followers readiness.
00:29 - 00:31
So this means that they basically
00:31 - 00:34
took a look at task and relationship behaviors
00:34 - 00:37
and they combined them into four specific leadership styles.
00:38 - 00:42
These hairstyles are telling, selling, participating and delegating.
00:43 - 00:48
And so the final component of this is R. One, R two, R three and R. Four,
00:48 - 00:52
which is basically guidelines as to if an
00:52 - 00:54
employee is willing and able to do something.
00:55 - 00:58
So I also learned about the managerial grid and the managerial
00:58 - 01:02
grid is a two dimensional grid for appraising leadership styles.
01:02 - 01:06
So on the vertical part it would be the concern for people
01:06 - 01:09
and on the horizontal part it would be the concern for production.
01:10 - 01:13
So lastly I'm going to discuss leadership behavior theories.
01:14 - 01:18
So the leadership theories that I really looked into were drive,
01:18 - 01:23
desire to lead honesty and integrity, self confidence, intelligence,
01:23 - 01:27
job relevant knowledge and proneness to guilt and all of
01:27 - 01:30
these will allow someone to become a good manager.
01:30 - 01:33
It basically is just talking about motivation
01:33 - 01:36
and wanting to help and meet the people that are under you.
01:37 - 01:37
So
01:38 - 01:41
all in all I did research the three things that
01:42 - 01:45
um would benefit a manager and I learned a lot in this chapter,
01:45 - 01:46
and
01:46 - 01:48
that's my presentation. Thank you.
