00:03 - 00:05
Good evening everyone
00:05 - 00:07
and welcome to the last week of classes.
00:08 - 00:11
So getting down to the wire here. So this is week eight.
00:12 - 00:12
Um,
00:13 - 00:17
I think what to talk about tonight, I'm not really sure what the topic truly is.
00:17 - 00:18
Um,
00:19 - 00:22
I feel like this past eight weeks have been
00:23 - 00:24
and interesting
00:26 - 00:31
conglomeration of the past year and a half of all of our classes so far
00:31 - 00:35
come together into this class where there's been a lot of overlap, but also
00:36 - 00:36
as
00:37 - 00:37
we've
00:38 - 00:40
grown and developed ourselves,
00:40 - 00:44
we're willing to speak out more for what's what we believe in and what we,
00:44 - 00:45
what we think.
00:45 - 00:46
Um,
00:47 - 00:49
you know, I'm not sure we could have had some of some of these touch and post
00:50 - 00:51
a year and a half ago
00:51 - 00:54
that we have this time and I think that's really great. Um,
00:55 - 00:56
at the same time,
00:56 - 00:58
I really wish we could have had them a year and a half ago when we first started.
00:59 - 01:01
Um, I think that this is something that should have been said
01:03 - 01:06
um, from the very beginning and, and the fact that, you know,
01:06 - 01:10
that we didn't feel comfortable enough to share them or speak about them until now.
01:11 - 01:17
I don't know if it says more for us or not enough about us. I'm honestly kind of
01:19 - 01:20
in a,
01:20 - 01:21
in a bit of a m
01:23 - 01:24
cannot know about it.
01:24 - 01:25
Um,
01:26 - 01:28
because I think what, what, what's been going on is really wrong
01:29 - 01:33
and I'm really tired of being asked these types of questions over and over again.
01:33 - 01:35
Um, as a white person.
01:35 - 01:37
I don't want to center myself around it,
01:37 - 01:41
but at the same time I want to stand up and be an ally to
01:41 - 01:45
um students who are offended by it and who should be offended by it.
01:45 - 01:47
Um So it's a
01:48 - 01:50
strange situation and
01:50 - 01:52
I feel like the fact that
01:54 - 01:55
we're speaking right now,
01:56 - 02:01
um it's just, it's just interesting as well as we get down to the end of our program,
02:02 - 02:04
um as for the final project,
02:06 - 02:06
um
02:07 - 02:10
you know, as you guys know by now, it seems like
02:11 - 02:14
it was, was the same thing, the project we had last class.
02:15 - 02:17
Um it's something that wasn't done two of my previous employers as well,
02:17 - 02:22
so I don't really know that I got a huge amount out of the project itself.
02:22 - 02:27
Um I could have easily done it in one week rather than four, but you know, that's fine,
02:27 - 02:28
but it's a little easier.
02:28 - 02:30
Um I do think,
02:31 - 02:31
you know,
02:31 - 02:35
we we did get a little more in depth this time and I think that each time we do it,
02:35 - 02:38
you know, we learn a little more, we grow a little more, we add a little more to it.
02:38 - 02:41
Um I think for this time,
02:41 - 02:44
um I really liked the kirkpatrick models evaluation.
02:44 - 02:46
I think that's what's due to me, this,
02:47 - 02:48
this class. Um,
02:49 - 02:52
I can see how it can be really useful to and why it's important.
02:52 - 02:55
I feel like though that it's a little bit
02:55 - 02:58
outdated with what we're learning about moving towards,
02:58 - 03:02
a learning culture of our of our environment
03:02 - 03:04
rather than just a training class.
03:04 - 03:09
And so you know that it's sort of a mixed bag of things in there. I love you
03:10 - 03:12
supposed that I um
03:12 - 03:18
and I think the other really big piece for me was that diversity um Intelligence.
03:18 - 03:20
Which while we're all very aware of diversity
03:20 - 03:22
is something not necessarily new in it.
03:22 - 03:24
The whole idea of that as a
03:25 - 03:26
topic
03:27 - 03:28
uh as a subject
03:28 - 03:32
of the intelligence that told the Q. Factor now I want ice cream um
03:33 - 03:33
is
03:34 - 03:35
importance.
03:35 - 03:38
And I think that's not getting nearly enough attention
03:38 - 03:41
that people think that they just hire a more diverse.
03:41 - 03:42
The first
03:42 - 03:46
employees or look for obvious signs of diversity
03:46 - 03:49
that they've done their job, but until they actually become
03:50 - 03:53
um intelligent through in diversity
03:54 - 03:54
then
03:55 - 03:56
they can't really
03:57 - 04:01
incorporate them all into their culture and understand that everyone has
04:01 - 04:02
something to add.
04:02 - 04:04
So you know that was
04:05 - 04:06
not new
04:07 - 04:09
but definitely nice to see it
04:09 - 04:09
in there.
04:10 - 04:11
Um
04:11 - 04:13
Okay I guess that's all I have to say,
04:13 - 04:15
I think I'm not really sure what I'm going with any of this.
04:15 - 04:18
Um I really enjoyed learning with all of you again
04:19 - 04:19
this time
04:20 - 04:21
and looking forward to having
04:21 - 04:22
you again next to him.
04:23 - 04:23
Bye.
