  1. few. That's better.
  2. I knew I had been a little lazy over the
  3. school holidays, but I didn't think I was going to
  4. turn into an actual potato.
  5. That's all right.
  6. I'm fresh and ready to start term for now.
  7. I hope you all had a great holiday and are
  8. ready to start our passion projects this term.
  9. I'm so excited to see what you guys are going
  10. to come up with.
  11. So this week we start with phase one of our
  12. passion project.
  13. This is all about research, so we're not actually creating
  14. anything this week.
  15. We need to become an expert in our topic.
  16. So that's the very first thing that we're going to
  17. do for your seesaw activities today.
  18. You'll see two different activities.
  19. The very first one is an optional uh it is
  20. the cow pasture public speaking competition.
  21. There are three topics or you can choose a topic
  22. of your choice that are in the dark points there.
  23. You have until the end of week two to upload
  24. your filmed speech, which is kind of a benefit because
  25. then you can sort of practice and cut and start
  26. over if you need to, which is really good.
  27. Some of you had brilliant speeches in term two, so
  28. I would definitely take up on that opportunity.
  29. Um if that's something that you would like to do,
  30. the second activity that you'll see on seesaw today is
  31. our passion project.
  32. There are slides that have different activities.
  33. This is our for this first week because we're not
  34. doing too much numeracy within our passion project during the
  35. research phase we do have some maths activities, a learning
  36. grid that's here.
  37. So you're choosing one math activity to do each day
  38. this week.
  39. Um you'll see that there and then there's a separate
  40. slide for you to upload your work or a screenshot
  41. of what you've done today throughout that seesaw activity that's
  42. labeled the passion project.
  43. There are a bunch of videos, there are some quizzes
  44. that you can do.
  45. So make sure whenever you see this little link here,
  46. um it means that you click on that picture and
  47. it will take you to the video or clicking on
  48. that red box where it says take this quiz, click
  49. on that and it will take you to the page
  50. that you need to do to um to be able
  51. to complete that activity this week, as I said, is
  52. all about research.
  53. And these are the questions like the general questions that
  54. we're trying to answer this week.
  55. Um Passion project phase one a where did it originate,
  56. meaning like where did the topic that you're that you
  57. have chosen, It might be origami or it might be
  58. cooking a particular recipe, It might be legos um it
  59. might be survival.
  60. So you'll need to narrow it down to what it
  61. is to answer these questions, where did it originate?
  62. Just means where did it come from?
  63. Where did it start?
  64. How did it become like a thing.
  65. Um so you need to kind of narrow down your
  66. focus right there are tons of resources um in Microsoft
  67. teams which you'll see in the videos throughout this week
  68. to help guide you with your research.
  69. Um it shouldn't be too stressful, it's more a time
  70. for you to be curious about the topic that you've
  71. chosen, so don't freak out if you can't answer all
  72. of those questions, the answers to those questions are actually
  73. not the most important thing in a passion project.
  74. These questions are actually supposed to help you come up
  75. with even more questions if that makes sense.
  76. So the more questions you have, the more that you'll
  77. get into your research, you'll create experiments that you'll do
  78. later on in the project to help you to answer
  79. some of those questions um and approached this project with
  80. curiosity, it there will be times when it will be
  81. a bit frustrating and you're not quite sure what you
  82. need to do and that's fine, that's part of the
  83. process. Um but come back to these questions that we're
  84. doing in phase one, um you may focus on just
  85. one question for today, so everybody sees, so activities looks
  86. a little bit different.
  87. Um but at the end of this first phase you
  88. should feel like an expert because you have researched everything
  89. about your topic and you can have a really good
  90. conversation about it.
  91. So um the end goal for Phase 12, finish Phase
  92. one, to move on to phase two in your own
  93. personal passion project, you need to create an informative text.
  94. Um it could be a speech, it could be a
  95. presentation, it could be a poster.
  96. Um you could type up an informational piece like almost
  97. like a like a not a persuasive text but an
  98. informative text about your topic, you'll submit that to your
  99. teacher and once we've had a look at that um
  100. whatever it is that you've created will say yep they
  101. are an expert in their field, they can move on,
  102. you get the stamp of approval to move on to
  103. phase two, so some of us will move on to
  104. phase two next week.
  105. For some of us we might need to spend a
  106. bit more time um to complete Phase one, but it's
  107. gonna be a lot of fun guys, I'm so excited
  108. um Have fun today, explore those videos that are on
  109. there, make sure you take the quizzes that are there
  110. as well.
  111. Um and we will be online Miss Ellis and I
  112. so have a great day, guys, welcome to term for
  113. Yeah
