00:01 - 00:04
Hello and thank you for this opportunity for me to
00:04 - 00:07
come back and present my response to this task.
00:08 - 00:13
The President is my technology of choice today because, well
00:13 - 00:16
for for many reasons, but I think what really allows
00:16 - 00:20
me to do showcase my communication skills and my presentation
00:20 - 00:24
skills, but also my technical abilities because I I never
00:24 - 00:27
actually used present before and there was a little bit
00:27 - 00:28
of a learning curve.
00:29 - 00:32
But what I've realized is that this is still part
00:33 - 00:37
of the interview process and but with the difference would
00:37 - 00:40
be not having a live conversation and what I wanted
00:40 - 00:43
to be able to do is be present on the
00:43 - 00:45
screen alongside my content.
00:46 - 00:48
And what I realized that also allows me to do
00:48 - 00:50
is really engaged with my content.
00:51 - 00:54
So this is me on my day one of joining
00:54 - 00:57
the company and realizing that my manager is not going
00:58 - 01:00
to be there to support me.
01:01 - 01:03
But on the series note, I think this could be
01:03 - 01:08
very beneficial situation for any new starter because when you
01:08 - 01:10
start in a new role in the new company, you
01:10 - 01:12
tend to take it easy for the first couple of
01:13 - 01:15
weeks, you go to trainings, you meet people and there
01:15 - 01:19
are no real expectations settling at that stage in this
01:19 - 01:22
situation is going to be very, very different.
01:23 - 01:25
Your manager is not going to be there to support
01:25 - 01:28
you, show you around introducing to people and train you
01:28 - 01:28
on the technology.
01:30 - 01:32
A lot of that is down to the new starter
01:33 - 01:37
to be proactive, be really engaged with the roll straight
01:37 - 01:40
away and be on the ball at all times.
01:41 - 01:44
So I think it could really be very beneficial situation
01:45 - 01:46
and this in mind.
01:47 - 01:50
Let me take you through the Structure of my presentation
01:51 - 01:52
for you today.
01:52 - 01:55
So first of all, I will be uh will take
01:55 - 01:58
you through my approach to setting my priorities and now
01:58 - 02:00
we'll be looking to do that on day one.
02:00 - 02:06
And those priorities will sort of shape my approach to
02:06 - 02:09
where I focus uh my time during the first couple
02:10 - 02:10
of weeks.
02:11 - 02:13
And I think those priorities would actually fall into three
02:14 - 02:17
main pockets are first very important.
02:18 - 02:20
Getting up to speed with the technology as quickly as
02:20 - 02:26
possible than meeting people, your stakeholders, your colleagues And also
02:27 - 02:32
uh identify those expectations and objectives of the role.
02:32 - 02:35
And I will summarize everything in my 30 day plan
02:35 - 02:36
in my last slide.
02:38 - 02:41
So in terms of setting the priorities, uh I know
02:41 - 02:44
my manager would not be there to sort of guide
02:44 - 02:46
me in that respect, but I would be still looking
02:46 - 02:50
to sit down for 1-1 with in this case second
02:50 - 02:52
best person who I think will be Owen.
02:53 - 02:56
And what I will be looking to do is to
02:56 - 02:58
shed light on three main areas.
02:59 - 03:04
First of all, are there any urgent commitments that would
03:04 - 03:08
require my input and I need to honor something that's
03:09 - 03:09
already in the diary.
03:10 - 03:15
Uh An organization is expecting input from this role and
03:16 - 03:17
I need to honor those commitments.
03:18 - 03:21
So if there are urgent commitments that I need to
03:21 - 03:26
honor, they will also shape my approach to uh how
03:26 - 03:29
I so to my learning process during the first couple
03:29 - 03:32
of weeks, which will be focused on all the things
03:32 - 03:35
that will enable me to deliver on those commitments.
03:37 - 03:40
Apart from that, I will be looking to reconfirm all
03:40 - 03:44
the technology that's involved With this role and where I
03:44 - 03:45
will be spending most of my life.
03:46 - 03:49
Uh the tools that will be using from my interview
03:50 - 03:54
process, I already know it's Amazon 365 and all the
03:54 - 03:58
underlying applications, it's salesforce, but most importantly it's show pad.
04:00 - 04:03
Uh and I would also actually uh ask the question
04:04 - 04:07
about where like the the the filing, so where are
04:08 - 04:11
the files and materials that I can get tuck into
04:11 - 04:15
to get the understands and then get all this sort
04:15 - 04:18
of informational overload from where where where is the sales
04:18 - 04:21
enablement folder and the technology folder that I need to
04:22 - 04:22
access straight away.
04:23 - 04:25
And also very important.
04:25 - 04:28
Who are my stakeholders, who will be relying on me
04:28 - 04:32
doing a very good job going forward in all of
04:32 - 04:33
my roles.
04:34 - 04:37
Uh I had that list of my stakeholders, people who
04:37 - 04:40
rely on me doing a good job in my role.
04:41 - 04:43
And following the meeting, I will be looking to set
04:44 - 04:49
up 1-1 with those stakeholders but also actually reach out
04:50 - 04:54
to customer success or account managers from the technique technology
04:55 - 04:59
providers that we use because in my experience I found
05:00 - 05:03
that those people are good customer success managers are very
05:03 - 05:06
knowledgeable about your company and how you use technology, their
05:07 - 05:11
technology. And in case of show bad, I've been on
05:11 - 05:14
their website and there is a big case that's about
05:14 - 05:18
blueprints when there was a testimonial from uh from chris
05:18 - 05:21
and I realized that you guys have big client for
05:22 - 05:24
them. So I expect the customer success manager on there
05:24 - 05:28
and to be very knowledgeable person and I would actually
05:28 - 05:31
be looking to get them to give me them all
05:31 - 05:35
the technology and answer some of my questions but more
05:36 - 05:39
on that in my next slide which will be all
05:39 - 05:43
about getting up to speed with technology which is wider
05:43 - 05:43
for this role.
05:44 - 05:46
Getting up to speed with technology as quickly as possible,
05:47 - 05:52
really accelerating that learning process and I will focus on
05:52 - 05:56
learning about three main things about all the technologies, all
05:56 - 05:57
the applications that we use.
05:58 - 06:02
First of all the fundamentals of the application, what really
06:02 - 06:06
drives it uh than the capabilities of each application and
06:07 - 06:10
then the role this application place within the the overall
06:10 - 06:12
infrastructure that we use.
06:13 - 06:16
I will I started researching those tools.
06:17 - 06:21
Uh user guides are very helpful to get uh you
06:22 - 06:25
understand some of the technology but I found it when
06:25 - 06:29
you actually start using your technology, getting locked in, uh
06:29 - 06:32
finding your way around playing with it and then actually
06:33 - 06:37
complement this with watching Youtube videos or maybe reading some
06:37 - 06:41
something on forums but really sort of coming up with
06:41 - 06:45
questions first uh and then answering those questions by doing
06:45 - 06:51
a good research on the company's academy website or support
06:52 - 06:56
forums. And I would be of course looking to uh
06:56 - 07:00
watch a few tutorials provided by show bad, but as
07:00 - 07:04
I've already mentioned, the customer success managers would also be
07:04 - 07:08
very valuable source of information for me and I in
07:08 - 07:10
my experience in my past, I found that those people
07:11 - 07:11
are very good.
07:12 - 07:15
Uh So first step in terms of understanding the technology,
07:16 - 07:18
they good people to give you that first demo over
07:18 - 07:19
the technology as well.
07:21 - 07:23
And I would focus on show pad, but also within
07:24 - 07:27
the Microsoft 365 which is I'm very familiar with, but
07:28 - 07:31
even though there are applications have not used before, uh
07:31 - 07:34
For example, Power bi I which I think will be
07:34 - 07:36
very important for this role going forward.
07:37 - 07:39
I've not used it before, so I will be looking
07:39 - 07:41
to get up to speed very quickly with that technology
07:42 - 07:42
as well.
07:44 - 07:47
So after that I will be looking to schedule one
07:48 - 07:49
to once with my stakeholders.
07:50 - 07:52
I would probably be looking to do this in myself,
07:52 - 07:56
2nd and 3rd weeks because the first week, first weeks
07:57 - 08:00
focus will all be on the technology that I will
08:00 - 08:03
be spending most of my time in and most of
08:03 - 08:03
my life in.
08:04 - 08:07
And I would schedule all the one to ones with
08:07 - 08:11
my stakeholders and the three.
08:12 - 08:15
So I would focus on three areas in those, in
08:15 - 08:19
the in those uh uh one to answer in those
08:19 - 08:22
meetings. First of all getting to know each other building
08:23 - 08:27
report, which is very important because you only have one
08:27 - 08:31
chance to make the first impression and it stays for
08:31 - 08:35
long term and also discuss how we can work together
08:36 - 08:37
going forward.
08:38 - 08:41
And of course, before those meetings I would look to
08:41 - 08:45
research people myself, uh look them up on linked in,
08:46 - 08:48
but I also have a very brief conversations in the
08:48 - 08:52
office or on ennis of social media or instant message.
08:52 - 08:55
Internal instant messenger and things like that.
08:57 - 09:01
And why I would schedule those meetings for 2nd and
09:01 - 09:04
3rd week and not the first week is because you
09:04 - 09:07
really need to get that understanding of the technology in
09:07 - 09:11
order to have meaningful conversations with all of your stakeholders.
09:12 - 09:16
So that's how I would approach, getting to know what
09:16 - 09:18
the team, my colleagues and my stakeholders.
09:21 - 09:26
And number three, I would look to really understand my
09:27 - 09:30
role and I know it's number three is open, my
09:30 - 09:33
presentation structure, but it's not because this is the least
09:33 - 09:34
important thing to me.
09:35 - 09:38
This is very important, but I just believe that you
09:38 - 09:41
need to have all that other knowledge in your head
09:41 - 09:44
about the technology and people you will be serving and
09:44 - 09:48
supporting in your role Before you can start uh solve
09:49 - 09:50
shaping new approach to the role.
09:51 - 09:54
And I would be looking to get started on my
09:54 - 10:00
3060 90 plan and we should focus on three main
10:00 - 10:04
areas uh rapidly getting up to speed with technology, get
10:05 - 10:09
into a position, getting myself to position where I'm comfortable
10:10 - 10:15
running it, but then going forward, optimizing the technology, making
10:16 - 10:18
the most of the technology swear that we are using
10:19 - 10:22
at the moment, but also making improvements, looking for synergies
10:23 - 10:26
and uh which technologies can talk to each other to
10:26 - 10:31
enable things like reporting for example, and this is how
10:31 - 10:32
I will start adding value.
10:33 - 10:36
I would start thinking about those things as well.
10:38 - 10:42
So those are my three priority pockets where I would
10:42 - 10:44
focus most of my time in the 1st 30 days
10:45 - 10:49
and this is what it would look like in reality
10:49 - 10:50
in practice.
10:51 - 10:55
In my first week, I my ultimate goal would be
10:55 - 10:59
to form a clear understanding of the digital enablement infrastructure
11:00 - 11:04
while all the technologies that are involved, what role they
11:04 - 11:05
are playing.
11:06 - 11:08
I would, in my first week look to set my
11:08 - 11:12
priorities for For the 1st 30, 60, 90 days.
11:12 - 11:15
And I will start to begin to understand not only
11:16 - 11:20
technology, but uh the company itself and my colleagues and
11:20 - 11:23
how the team is structured and what really drives the
11:23 - 11:26
team and what is expected of the team and the
11:26 - 11:28
role I play within the team.
11:28 - 11:32
And I would start uh setting up those scheduling those
11:32 - 11:34
one to ones with my, with my colleagues.
11:36 - 11:40
Now in week number two, I would expect myself to
11:40 - 11:44
be fully equipped in running the digital number enablement platform.
11:45 - 11:49
So I would still continue familiarizing myself with the technology
11:50 - 11:51
and how it's used by the organization.
11:52 - 11:56
I would also start having those begins to begin those
11:56 - 12:01
meetings with my stakeholders, those one to ones and really
12:01 - 12:05
dig into their needs and expectations of my role as
12:05 - 12:07
well and how we can work together going forward.
12:09 - 12:14
And in my third week I would be expecting myself
12:15 - 12:18
to be fully up to speed with the technology and
12:18 - 12:22
actually be trusted by the team to run the platform.
12:23 - 12:25
So when they look look at me, they are comfortable
12:26 - 12:29
that I'm the right person for the job and I've
12:29 - 12:32
got all the right skills and knowledge and I got
12:32 - 12:36
myself up to speed with technology really quickly and they
12:36 - 12:39
can trust me is that and also I would be
12:39 - 12:43
looking to become that go to uh person for any
12:44 - 12:45
tech related questions.
12:45 - 12:48
Of course, I will continue having my one to answer
12:49 - 12:52
with all of my stakeholders and only three hour, hopefully
12:53 - 12:56
finish all of them and have a complete understanding of
12:57 - 13:01
the needs of my community, of my stakeholders by the
13:01 - 13:07
end of the week And then week three, I would
13:07 - 13:12
be looking to start writing my uh 1690 day plan
13:13 - 13:17
at that stage and identify any gaps in my knowledge
13:18 - 13:22
that I I still have in the technology and try
13:22 - 13:26
to close them as quickly as possible and now start
13:26 - 13:27
looking into the future.
13:27 - 13:30
How can I optimize the technology that we use?
13:31 - 13:35
How can I start adding value uh in things like
13:35 - 13:40
game, fine, uh some of the learning experience that sales
13:40 - 13:43
people have with the technology and maybe edging some reports
13:44 - 13:48
and functionality that enables us to so demonstrate the input
13:49 - 13:52
that sales enablement team has into performance of all the
13:52 - 13:56
sales people, so starts in development adding value in that,
13:56 - 13:59
in that direction as well, and all that will be
14:00 - 14:05
done with one So objective in my head where I
14:05 - 14:07
want to be in a position where when my manager
14:07 - 14:12
starts and he's back from uh, and the illness and
14:12 - 14:12
here as well.
14:13 - 14:14
I want to have, I want to be up to
14:14 - 14:17
speed with the technology, but also have that sort of
14:17 - 14:20
road map where I'm gonna take, how I'm going to
14:20 - 14:23
take ownership of that role and what I'm going to
14:23 - 14:24
take it going forward.
14:25 - 14:28
So this is it for me and I hope you
14:28 - 14:32
enjoyed my presentation and I hope I really, so I
14:32 - 14:37
was able to demonstrate my uh technical abilities, but also
14:37 - 14:40
my people skills that will really contribute to the success
14:41 - 14:42
in this in this role.
14:43 - 14:47
And I will be looking to continue this conversation going
14:47 - 14:50
forward. Thank you for your time and I hope to
14:50 - 14:50
speak soon.
14:50 - 14:50
Goodbye.
