00:02 - 00:03
Hi guys, I'm going to cover a couple of collaborative
00:04 - 00:07
practices that you can implement within your school system, both
00:07 - 00:11
broad broadly as in throughout the whole school and uh
00:12 - 00:14
More specific base as in in your own classroom.
00:15 - 00:17
So the first thing we're going to look at is
00:17 - 00:20
a post in from 2016 from the University of Texas
00:21 - 00:23
Arlington about teacher collaboration.
00:24 - 00:29
So uh collaborating, collaborating with their other colleagues to help
00:30 - 00:32
benefit students in the school overall.
00:33 - 00:35
So the first one I'm going to talk about, um
00:35 - 00:39
one way to collaborate with other teachers or colleagues is
00:40 - 00:45
through the use of meeting other teachers to create effective
00:45 - 00:46
lesson plans.
00:46 - 00:47
By this, I mean, you're going to create a lesson
00:48 - 00:51
plan with other teachers, um from the same discipline or
00:51 - 00:54
same subject, create a lesson plan implemented within your classroom
00:55 - 00:57
and then come back together to reflect on those lesson
00:58 - 01:02
plans and how they benefited your students, how they work,
01:02 - 01:06
how they didn't work, and then again create further lesson
01:06 - 01:10
plans and future lesson plans to build off of what
01:10 - 01:11
worked and what didn't work.
01:11 - 01:15
Another way to communicate and collaborate with other teachers or
01:15 - 01:22
colleagues is to create guidelines for overall class instruction and
01:23 - 01:26
management across across your school, across your classroom.
01:26 - 01:30
Um and you can do this through meeting with other
01:30 - 01:35
teachers and encouraging each other to communicate with one another
01:35 - 01:40
on how you should instruct within your class and overall
01:41 - 01:41
manage your classroom.
01:42 - 01:44
So again, this is a kind of another type of
01:44 - 01:48
meeting, a little more informal, even if it's just asking
01:48 - 01:50
another teacher for a quick piece of advice while students
01:50 - 01:51
are walking to their next classes.
01:52 - 01:54
And then the last thing I'm going to touch on
01:54 - 01:58
is more a community based um way to collaborate with
01:59 - 02:02
families and specifically at the students, families that you are
02:03 - 02:08
teaching. Um so from Kaufman, from a 2020 articles, she
02:08 - 02:11
wrote, one of the best ways to kind of collaborate
02:11 - 02:15
with the community or parents is through the use of
02:15 - 02:15
a newsletter.
02:16 - 02:18
Um one of the best parts about a newsletter is
02:18 - 02:20
you can put as much or as little into them.
02:21 - 02:25
Uh and and essentially you kind of create a little
02:25 - 02:31
infographic almost or information specifically based from their students, that
02:31 - 02:31
you can send out monthly.
02:32 - 02:35
And what this does is it helps you communicate with
02:35 - 02:39
each uh family and you can provide them things like
02:39 - 02:43
homework tips or due dates, um for assignments, when tests
02:43 - 02:45
are coming up, things like that, this helps create a
02:46 - 02:47
kind of level playing field.
02:48 - 02:52
So parents or caregivers know exactly what is expected of
02:53 - 02:53
their students.
02:53 - 02:56
So thanks for listening guys and I hope you can
02:56 - 02:57
implement these in your own classroom.
