  1. Hi, this is jaden flowers and this is a friend
  2. wants to know presentation.
  3. So I want to go over the basics first and
  4. that is the five social forces which is the the
  5. five things were mostly focusing on for this course and
  6. the five are re traditional Ization, urbanization, identity, re imagination,
  7. self governance and textual transformation.
  8. So the one aspect I actually chose was protest because
  9. I felt it was like more relatable to like modern
  10. modern society, especially around now because there's a lot of
  11. protesting going on and fighting for what you think is
  12. right. And protesting is the act or statement of expressing
  13. what new or collective of people agree is the right
  14. idea and it's a way to fight for what's right
  15. and to convey a message to a higher power for
  16. change. Next is the cause.
  17. So the issue of some incidents that we actually looked
  18. at during this course was okay, a standoff and one
  19. from a real life experience was the Canadian pipeline railway
  20. protest. So what happened during these?
  21. So, during the OKA standoff?
  22. Was in Oka Québec and it was from July, 11
  23. 1992 September, 26 1990.
  24. And it was in the knesset can s attack resistance
  25. or the mohawk resistance at the knesset talk between mohawk
  26. protesters and called the police and the results in Canadian
  27. tactical victory and of mohawk blockade.
  28. And there was casualties of mohawk elder joe, armstrong and
  29. one week Horn Miller and for the Canadian pipeline railway,
  30. A little summary is is the wet suit went West
  31. Witton First Nations territory and british Columbia.
  32. And it went on from January 7 2022, March 2020,
  33. and it was the construction of the coastal gas plate
  34. pipeline. The effect, so notable, notable forces, I feel where
  35. uh the identity re imagination, because the idea of using
  36. indigenous history to recreate their identities, so they want to
  37. change perspectives of other people and try to fight for
  38. what they think is right instead of going through like
  39. stereotypes and being oppressed.
  40. And another one is self governance.
  41. So the idea of self determination through their rights and
  42. organizations, so that's practically protesting and fighting for what just
  43. basic human rights, the solution.
  44. So my view is actually uh I feel that the
  45. power of the, I felt that indigenous people are actually
  46. very powerful.
  47. They're about to endure from not only mental but also
  48. physical and emotional strength, like their strengthening and they have
  49. tons of endurance and I have more respect for their
  50. land and their culture and more understanding.
  51. And I'm just overall open minded and the way I
  52. would spread the word, I would try to educate others
  53. by spreading the word and make sure that people understand
  54. the indigenous peoples' struggles.
  55. And I will also make sure I participate where I
  56. can from protests, petitions and educating other people if they're
  57. wrong and just basic support and practically keep the story's
  58. going, as I would say, because people would say, and
  59. that's pretty much it for my friend wants to know.
