  1. Hello, Parents and students and community.
  2. This is John Clements, principal Buffalo High School that you
  3. find in school and Leon County.
  4. You know, it's this week is busy week.
  5. So any time we have a busy week, I try
  6. toe, get some information out to the community.
  7. This week is senior Walk week.
  8. And so I wanted to let you know a few
  9. things going on, uh, this week.
  10. So let's get started.
  11. Just wanna let you know that this week the 26th
  12. to the 30th is the last day of the second
  13. six weeks.
  14. And so we are taking, ah, six weeks exams this
  15. week, kind of wrapping up to six weeks for students.
  16. Give us opportunity to be able to look and see
  17. how they're doing.
  18. Um, see if they need some extra help.
  19. But also, this ends the cycle for asynchronous learning.
  20. If you're failing your classes at home and you're required
  21. to be back at school on November the third, which
  22. is a Tuesday, and we'll talk about that minute.
  23. But if you're failing your classes, you've gotten a call
  24. from the school and you'll be required.
  25. Return to school on November the third that will give
  26. us a chance to get you caught back up and
  27. hopefully get you passing those classes.
  28. Also, your report cards will go home on that Tuesday
  29. as well.
  30. The third.
  31. So be prepared for that.
  32. And parents if you don't see a report card Parents,
  33. you know, you can always get on parent portal and
  34. and look there, you know they can get away with
  35. it like our old days where we buried under the
  36. tree out in the front yards, our parents So we
  37. never got one.
  38. You know, they have a report card coming out on
  39. Tuesday, so be prepared for that.
  40. There is a holiday on Monday, uh, November the second
  41. that day is a data collection day for us.
  42. It gives an opportunity for us to look at six
  43. weeks exams.
  44. So if there's areas that we need, Thio, enhance or
  45. work with your child and so just be prepared for
  46. that. So Monday, November the second will be a student
  47. holiday, though teachers will be working.
  48. And, of course, on Friday we have a pep rally
  49. because we have a home game and we have three
  50. spirits sticks up for grabs because We know that the
  51. class with the most spirit sticks gets to go on
  52. a little trip and right now, the seniors winning.
  53. But that doesn't mean it's gonna end that way.
  54. And so we hope that everybody has a chance to
  55. to win that price.
  56. Now we've got three spirits sticks up for grabs.
  57. This time it is the sign, and we'll have a
  58. live feed and you'll be able to see the signs.
  59. You'll be able to see a cheer in the halls,
  60. a ZX best we could do with the mask on
  61. and things like that under 15 minutes and all that
  62. stuff that they tell us we have to do.
  63. And then we have the scariest surgical mask contest.
  64. Those the mass.
  65. We all use surgical masks, if you can.
  66. Whoever has the best decorated surgical mans the scariest surgical
  67. man's, uh, one spirit stick for their great now.
  68. So we're looking forward.
  69. And of course, it is a home game, and it
  70. is a Lexington Eagles, and the theme this week is
  71. Cage the Eagles.
  72. So we're looking forward to caging the Eagles this week.
  73. Now with Lexington.
  74. Now it is senior walk this Friday on.
  75. We do highlight all the seniors in the senior class
  76. on that night, and so we are preparing for that.
  77. But here's some details.
  78. If you're participating in the walk and you've talked to
  79. Miss Houston that you are participating because she is the
  80. senior sponsor, then you will be given some tickets to
  81. get in the game.
  82. Get in the stadium, uh, to, in order to participate
  83. in the ceremonies now, you will not be able to
  84. go up into the home stands without purchasing a ticket.
  85. But if you're just there to participate in the ceremonies
  86. and you're not staying for the game, UH, than you'll
  87. have these tickets here and the yellow ticket, as you
  88. can see there is for the students and then the
  89. purple tickets, or for the family that wants to walk
  90. with the students during now, what you'll do is you'll
  91. have to wear a surgical mask to get in the
  92. stadium that's required by the state of Texas.
  93. And then you'll go in and I'll escort you to
  94. the track.
  95. When you get in the track, that will start getting
  96. in line and get you ready for your wall.
  97. Now, if you want to go to the game after
  98. the senior walk, you'll have to have both.
  99. You'll get some tickets to get into the track to
  100. be able to do the ceremony, and then you'll have
  101. to purchase a game ticket.
  102. Now. The game tickets are on sale on Mondays and
  103. Tuesdays for students, so, like you could give your students
  104. and money for the game $4 apiece.
  105. And then they come in here and they purchased tickets.
  106. We do not sell to the general public at the
  107. high school.
  108. Now for the general public, you can purchase tickets on
  109. Wednesdays and Thursdays at the Buffalo Ice de Central Offices.
  110. You know what those are?
  111. So it's important that you understand you have to get
  112. into the track, do the senior walk and have a
  113. game ticket that you purchased in order to get up
  114. in the stands after the wall.
  115. For those that do not want to watch the game,
  116. you just be air being escorted right out back into
  117. the parking lot, uh, to move on, so be prepared
  118. for that again.
  119. You must have a ticket artist in order to sit
  120. in the stands for any reason.
  121. So if you're just there, I just want to go
  122. and see my kid.
  123. Walk are my grandparent's.
  124. I just wanted to see him walk.
  125. You still have to purchase a ticket to sit in
  126. the stands.
  127. Okay. If you're just there to be in the ceremony,
  128. you walk with your child, have them announced on.
  129. You don't want to stay.
  130. They will escort you on out of the stadium after
  131. you walked.
  132. Now you should arrive at the stadium on mask on.
  133. You'll have your temperature check, and then you'll go in
  134. and you'll be able to sit in the are not
  135. set, but walk into the track area there myself.
  136. Mr. Olivera and Miss Read will assist you in getting
  137. in the line.
  138. Now what we're gonna do is football players.
  139. Seniors will go first, the cheerleaders bells band.
  140. And the reason for that is they need to get
  141. ready for the game.
  142. So we're gonna go ahead and get them walked on
  143. through. Then students that are not do not participate in
  144. those areas will be in the back and so they
  145. will be escorted through after those are announced.
  146. So you do need to be there at 5 45
  147. on the track, ready to line up for the senior
  148. walk now.
  149. We also have favorites that night.
  150. And so I know that the football players choose a
  151. favorite cheerleaders Bales ban, and they will be announced at
  152. halftime right after Lexington finishes their performance.
  153. So we'll just like we did homecoming.
  154. For that, they will come out and be introduced.
  155. The favorites will be introduced at halftime after Lexington performs
  156. for, uh, the halftime show.
  157. All right, and so that's it.
  158. Yeah, I just want to remind you one thing.
  159. E. I know it's tough and this covert thing is
  160. really a mess and believe, May we struggle with it
  161. every day, Every day there's something new, and so we
  162. all have to try to keep up with it.
  163. We have to make good decisions for our students.
  164. Good decisions for the community is difficult because we're dealing
  165. with something that we just don't understand very well.
  166. We don't understand why things happen for the way they
  167. have. We sent students home because they've been exposed, and
  168. then they have no symptoms at all.
  169. It's just kind of a strange thing that happens, but
  170. we're required to do it by the state of Texas.
  171. And so we try to make good decisions for everybody
  172. and try to keep us.
  173. Many here is we can, because we know students aren't
  174. learning a ZX much as they could learn if they
  175. were in the classroom with a teacher in front of
  176. them. So please be patient with us.
  177. We're doing everything we can for that, but also to
  178. remind you one small detail, one tiny detail, I say
  179. every day to the students.
  180. Sort of this announced every day to the students.
  181. And you know what?
  182. It iss You're in the finest school.
  183. Leon County.
  184. That's right.
  185. Say it with me.
  186. Buffalo. Hi, everybody.
  187. Have a fabulous day.
