  1. Hello, girls, it is Doctor Clark. I am here. Um Just
  2. having a little bit of fun. I hope you're enjoying your winter break and that you are
  3. doing lots of things that you enjoy
  4. and that you're getting some rest and spending time
  5. with your families and your friends and people you love
  6. and that you are just making the most of this time off.
  7. So
  8. since I had some extra time, I decided to work on
  9. my game. And for those of you who
  10. want to, who enjoy this
  11. and you wanna work on your game, I decided to make this video for you
  12. to show you some of the things that you have to look forward to.
  13. And if you felt like practicing
  14. some of the things that you could work on,
  15. so
  16. I'm gonna turn myself off
  17. and I'm gonna go back to the original drone
  18. by now. You have learned how to work in
  19. image editing software to
  20. pick your character for your game.
  21. We started out with this drone and we went into image editing
  22. and we learned how to alter it to number one mirror, it, flip it around and
  23. alter the blade so that it would look like they were spinning around.
  24. And then
  25. we learned how to
  26. create these um various costumes. And one of the costumes
  27. we learned how to make was this
  28. explosion costume. So that when our drone and our game
  29. hit an obstacle,
  30. this costume would pop up to look like it hadn't exploded.
  31. So this is kind of like the end result.
  32. This is everything you're gonna be able to
  33. do after you finish our first five lessons.
  34. And by this time
  35. when you get to this point and you learn all of these things,
  36. your drone,
  37. I'm gonna go into
  38. screen share.

  45. You are gonna learn
  46. how to

  50. Make it so that your drum when it hits, see that when it hits an obstacle,
  51. it's gonna

  54. OK, let me start over so I can show you everything that you're gonna be able to do.

  59. All right, your drone is gonna,
  60. you're gonna be able to make it so that you have multiple lives
  61. and
  62. that
  63. it will show that you're gonna learn how to draw whatever background you wanna draw
  64. and you're gonna learn
  65. how to make it so that
  66. um
  67. it has, you know, you, you set,
  68. have a set number of lives and when your lives have run out,
  69. you're gonna learn how to. So I won this time. So it stopped with two lives.
  70. So I got to the end.
  71. Um, but you'll learn how to,
  72. um, make it so that when you run out of lives,
  73. the background changes to game over.
  74. So that's pretty much all you have to do at this point. Um, with the drone game
  75. and
  76. what's going to happen when we get back to school
  77. is you're going to be given
  78. an activity to do
  79. to make your own characters. So they'll show you
  80. how to go into the clip art
  81. website and choose
  82. any kind of clip art that you want,
  83. whatever character you want. You'll be able to, to pretty much just
  84. um search for it
  85. and
  86. you know, you'll go in
  87. and you'll be able to
  88. um
  89. change the, oh, what I wanted to show you is this clip of art um
  90. website, do not click on those. Those are ads.
  91. So just click anywhere else on the screen and then you'll get to the clip art.
  92. So there.
  93. So, you know,
  94. you'll be able to change the size so that it's
  95. small enough to fit inside of your scratch game.
  96. And then you'll just right click on it or use your two fingers.
  97. If you're on your chromebook
  98. and you'll save the image, you click save image as you make sure you save it as a PNG.
  99. And then you have to remember to name it because every
  100. time you make a change to it or every time you select a different image,
  101. they have to have a different name
  102. because they're gonna become different costumes.
  103. So it's gonna be a lot of fun what I ended up doing.
  104. Um I just chose to
  105. go to
  106. that same website and I just chose for my costumes, these different smiley faces.
  107. So the first
  108. activity,
  109. so I'll click on my costumes,
  110. link see how I just have the different smiley faces and my explosion.
  111. So the first activity is just gonna be
  112. to choose or create
  113. your characters
  114. and
  115. write the code. You know, based on what we learned from our drone,
  116. write the code to animate it
  117. and make it move.
  118. When you push the space bar, it should go up and
  119. down and then it should move
  120. left to right
  121. and that's pretty much it. So I hope that, you know, you take some time if
  122. again, if this is your thing and you're really into it,
  123. take some time during this break to practice. OK.
