00:01 - 00:02
Good morning Hartley Elementary.
00:02 - 00:05
It is your principal mrs Davenport here with
00:05 - 00:11
your morning announcements for today thursday March 3rd 2022
00:12 - 00:15
please stand for the pledge of allegiance.
00:16 - 00:19
I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States
00:19 - 00:23
of America and to the Republic for which it stands.
00:23 - 00:24
One nation
00:24 - 00:25
under God
00:25 - 00:29
indivisible with liberty and justice for all.
00:29 - 00:30
You may be seated
00:31 - 00:32
Alright my friends,
00:32 - 00:39
we have been following those three Ws um from the beginning of the year but now we are
00:39 - 00:44
going to look at W number one because now W number one is optional wearing your mask.
00:44 - 00:48
That means um you and your family can choose for you to
00:48 - 00:52
wear your mask or for you not to wear your mask.
00:52 - 00:56
So that is optional. That means it is you and your family's choice.
00:56 - 01:00
However, we are still following the other two Ws.
01:00 - 01:03
We still need to continue to watch our distance and make
01:03 - 01:05
sure we have space between us and the people around us.
01:05 - 01:09
And we also need to continue to wash our hands.
01:09 - 01:16
Our hands need to continue to stay clean with soap and water or with hand sanitizer.
01:17 - 01:21
Our bodies also need to stay safe
01:21 - 01:26
so that others around us can feel safe. We need to have safe hands.
01:26 - 01:31
Our hands need to stay to ourselves, hands off.
01:31 - 01:36
Um I say that every morning but every day I am hearing about people who are
01:36 - 01:41
putting their hands on other people and it is not acceptable and it's not okay.
01:41 - 01:46
I also need to make sure that you remember that keeping a safe
01:46 - 01:50
mouth is also important just as important as keeping safe hands and feet
01:51 - 01:55
safe mouth means your mouth is closed when directions
01:55 - 01:58
and um information is being given to you.
01:58 - 02:01
It's also if someone's saying unkind things to you,
02:01 - 02:05
you don't need to say unkind things back either, but if you want to,
02:05 - 02:09
if you're thinking about saying an unkind thing, keep your mouth
02:10 - 02:11
quiet
02:11 - 02:15
because when it is open, you should be saying kind,
02:15 - 02:20
respectful and polite things to each other and mrs Davenport's
02:20 - 02:22
is serious about this as well.
02:23 - 02:27
Your mouth also needs to be safe. Your feet need to stay safe,
02:28 - 02:32
they need to stay on the floor and they need to be walking feet,
02:32 - 02:38
they do not need to touch or kick anyone ever. That is never an option either.
02:38 - 02:43
And your listening ears should be ready to go,
02:43 - 02:45
Your ears should be listening for directions
02:45 - 02:48
and for information that you need to know
02:48 - 02:52
to not only stay safe but to learn things while you're here at school,
02:53 - 02:55
Time for our leader and be habit
02:55 - 02:59
and moment of the day, we are going to focus on habit number three
02:59 - 03:01
um in the month of March and habit,
03:01 - 03:07
number three is all around putting first things first work first and then play.
03:07 - 03:11
So you're gonna do all the things that you want to do that you need to do
03:11 - 03:16
and then do the things that you want to do and you're going to stay focused,
03:16 - 03:20
you need to make sure that you stay focused on the important things.
03:20 - 03:22
Um and if you are distracted,
03:24 - 03:25
just regroup,
03:25 - 03:28
restart and get back on track.
03:29 - 03:34
So habit number three our focus this month is putting first things first,
03:35 - 03:36
moving right along.
03:36 - 03:42
It is women's history month and today we are going to learn about sally ride.
03:42 - 03:48
Sally Kristen ride was an american astronaut and physicist. While here we go.
03:48 - 03:53
We have another physicist who was a scientist. She was born in Los Angeles.
03:53 - 03:59
She joined NASA in 1978 and in 1983
03:59 - 04:05
Became the first American woman in space. She was the third woman in space.
04:05 - 04:10
She remains the youngest American astronaut to have traveled to
04:10 - 04:14
space having done so at the age of 32.
04:14 - 04:22
So at 32 she was the first american woman. Third woman in space. That is awesome.
04:22 - 04:25
If you want to learn more about sally ride,
04:25 - 04:29
we have a read aloud there for you to read and also the biography video
04:30 - 04:32
and a special quilt from sally ride.
04:32 - 04:38
All adventures especially into new territory are scary. So
04:39 - 04:41
it might be a little scary but it is adventurous.
04:41 - 04:47
So today we celebrate sally ride on this third day of women's history month
04:48 - 04:50
and that is it for today.
04:50 - 04:54
Please make sure that just like every day you do your very, very best
04:55 - 04:59
and remember that is your choice on what kind of day you want to have.
04:59 - 05:05
So make today a great day because it is your choice. I'll see you around
05:06 - 05:06
Nice.
