Before the Big Bang Back in Time Theories Scientists researching the Big Bang today Before the big bang, there was a little tiny dot that had a lot of particles and energy in it. The dot was extremely hot and very small. That dot was not the universe yet, but it soon would be. Scientists do not actually know what existed before the Big Bang. They only have theories. Also, the Big Bang is just a theory for what created the universe. Scientists do not really know what happened before the Big Bang. But over the years, they tried different ways to see what happened by building enormous machines on Earth. The newest and most advanced one is the Large Hadron Collider in Switzerland. It cost $4 billion. The machine tries to re-create the Big Bang by making beams of protons collide with each other 800 million times per second. The beams that crash into each other are expected to make new particles and possibly create a reconstruction of the universe right before and after the Big Bang. The Big Bang Theory By Alex Peek A Bang in Space BANG! The tiny dot of matter exploded . This was the Big Bang. About 14 billion years ago, the Big Bang created the universe. All of that matter in the dot exploded and started expanding very quickly. Space, galaxies, stars, solar systems, and planets were born. Most of the energy from the Big Bang became matter. According to some scientists and astronomers, if we look back at the universe one second after the Big Bang, we would see protons, neutrons, electrons, anti-electrons, and neutrinos scattered all over the universe. As the Universe cooled, some neutrons became protons and electrons and some neutrons mixed with other protons to create hydrogen or helium. Bibliography After The Big Bang After the Big Bang, the hydrogen and helium became gigantic clouds of gas. The gases broke apart into smaller pieces. These pieces were formed into galaxies and stars. Time was also created after the Big Bang. The universe kept expanding and expanding after the Big Bang and is still expanding today. When was the Big Bang? There are many theories on when the Big Bang occurred. It is usually said that the universe was created 13.7 billion years ago, 14 billion years ago, or 15-20 billion years ago. But Earth and most of the other planets were created about 14 billion years ago, and the Big Bang created the planets, so it is most likely that the Big Bang occurred about 14 billion years ago.
