Culinary Arts By: Janelle Leo Chefs and cooks are often compared and considered similar; it is important to recognize the level of dedication, extensive training and education required to be considered a chef. Chefs should be acclaimed for their title. Thesis Statement General/Background/Historical Fieldwork Evidence For my field work, i shadowed a chef who owns a restaurant down called 'Philly Pumkin'. I helped with prepping for meals, and the dishes.

In addition, I attended an Open house event at the Art Institute of Philadelphia for their Culinary program and earn an accumulative of 5 hours.

To complete the hours , i watched the famous TV show on Food Network called Hell's Kitchen to get a better understanding of how chefs work under pressure. Explanation of thesis statement Before organized schools were found in the US, individual professionals dedicated their life's work to teaching others how to cook. One of the first American cooking schools was the Boston Cooking School which taught instructors how to, cook and teach the culinary arts. HISTORY GENERAL Culinary arts means 'the art of cooking.' Culinary arts programs prepare people to cook and present meals in restaurants and other places that serve food. Students who study this program learn to create menus and recipes and different cooking techniques. They also learn to manage kitchens, buy durable supplies and train staff. GENERAL Many community colleges, vocational and proprietary schools offer programs in culinary arts. One can earn a diploma or certificate, am associates degree, or a bachelors degree in this program. DATA SUPPORT FOR THESIS Fact #1 Fact #2 Fact #3 Fact #4 Fact #5 Closing Restate Thesis Summarization Conclusion Chefs have much longer working hours than cook.

While there are different levels of extensive training for
chefs, there is no special education requirement for cooks.

Chefs have a much greater responsibilities than cooks.

The life of a chef is mainly in the kitchen since they spend most of their time there, unlike cooks who can get time off and take vacations. The next time you care to dine at a restaurant, do not hesitate to show your appreciation to the waiter or the chef if you are able to. To lessen the stress of being on their feet all day, the satisfaction of a customer brings joy to the heart of many chefs. Chefs and cooks are often compared and considered similar; it is important to recognize the level of dedication, extensive training and education required to be considered a chef. Chef should be acclaimed for their title. Thesis Statement Fieldwork Analysis My thesis statement is simply making others aware that chefs and cooks are at different levels when it comes to work ethics and production despite the fact that they both work in restaurants and kitchens.
