Medical Robots What Do Medical Robots Do? Medical robots are used for delicate procedures in surgery to get into places surgeons can't reach. The robots are minimally invasive and there is less scarring afterwords. By Kayla Fearn and Katie Ericksen What are some advantages of using medical robots? Some huge advantages of using medical robots are that...

Engineers right now are actually coming up with robots that can help paralyzed patients to walk again Where is the robot used? What is its work envelope (how many degrees of freedom or flexible joints does it have)? Medical robots are used for open heart surgery because they are less invasive (meaning they don't have to cut big holes to get in the body and do the surgery)
Most medical robots have a large work envelope What are some disadvantages of medical robots? Although there are are many advantages of these amazing robots, there are disadvantages. These include:
-Having trouble adjusting to a new situation
-they have less sensing ability
- less hand-eye coordination
-they can't sense as much as humans/doctors can Is the robotic end effector multi-functional? If so, what other tasks can it perform? The robot effector on a robot like Da Vinci has a 7-degree wrist-like effector called an EndoWrist.

Each instrument has a specific surgical mission What impact could they have? They would have a huge impact.
With the medical robots that are already being used, people are astonished.
