Transcript of The Automated Teller Machine (ATM)

I think that the Automated Teller Machine has a positive affect on the society, the environment, and the economy.
Environmental Impact
Social Impact
The ATM has a positive impact on society. The ATM allows people around the community to spend no more than 5 minutes at the bank when needing to deposit or withdraw cash. It also makes work easier for the people who work at the bank. They no longer need to manually deposit or collect the customer's money. The occasional person will need a bank teller for assistance or even to deposit a check. Which also takes away jobs.
The Automated Teller Machine (ATM)
Economic Impact
The economic impact of the ATM is positive. It costs less to open ATM's in banks than to hire bank tellers. This may also be a negative because it leaves people without jobs. If there were no ATM's it would open up many new jobs. They are quite small and compact. This would allow the bank to be smaller than banks from the past. They are very convenient and easy to use allowing customers to leave quickly.
This job was done by bank tellers. They would go into the vault where the money is stored and deposit or withdraw the money the customer required to be put in the vault or be given.
ATM's have negative impacts on the environment. They are encased in over 100kg of steel. There are also many electrical parts and wires needed to make the ATM work. There are over 1.5 million ATM's around the world. Which equals to 150 million tons of steel. This is a lot of steel used on ATM's alone.
Therefore the ATM has a positive impact on society, the environment, and economically because it leaves the public satisfied that they didn't spend so much time at the bank withdrawing or depositing money when they could have much more important things to be doing.
