Egyptian Jewelry The first jewelry was made for religious purposes. The Eye of Horus is very colorful and also a very important symbol in ancient Egyptian jewelry. Egyptians used jewelry to show their culture. Jewelry represented religion, wealth, magic, luck, etc. Egyptians adored their jewelry because of the privileges it brought and all the things it symbolized. Jewelry also represented your economic status. Only the wealthy could afford their jewelry to be made of gold and gems, the lower class would use less expensive materials. Another name for jewelry is AMULET. Many egyptians wore jewelry as a way to honor their gods and hope that it will bring them good luck.
