Setting
The first setting is the Heffley's car. The car is a mini van and has a boat being pulled behind it.

Greg is a kid in middle school who wants to just play video games and relax.
Greg's mom is a let's do everything we see in a family magazine and do it.
Rodrick is Greg's older brother and like's to make Greg's life miscible.
Setting
The second setting is the motels. Through out the book the Heffleys got to many motels through out the book. The first one was a dirty, not taken care off and the other ones were the same.
Initial Conflict
The initial conflict is that Greg doesn't want to go on the Summer road trip, but his mom is making him.
Conflict
The first conflict is man v.s. man. It's this because at the beginning of the book Greg didn't want to go on the road trip, but his mom made him.
Conflict
The second conflict is man v.s. self. It's man v.s. self because at the end Greg finds the key to their locker at the water park, and has to decide what to do with it.
Complications
Greg's brother Manny wins a baby pig at a county fair, and Greg is forced to sit with the pig in the back seat.
Climax
The Heffleys loose their locker key. Inside the locker was their wallets and cell phones. No one can remember what locker it was.
Falling Action
The mini-van gets into an accident and they can't get it fixed and break down on the highway.
Resolution
Some nice people on the highway give them a ride. When Greg gets home he finds the key and has to decide what to do with it.
Mood
The mood of the story is calm and exciting. At some parts of the story it's calm and at others it's exciting.
Theme
The theme of the story is something boring could be fun. At the beginning of the book Greg things that this is going to be boring but it turns out to be fun.
Point of View
The point of view in the story was first person.
