Cn5546 The Galileo mission: The Galileo orbiter is the only spacecraft to orbit Jupiter. It orbited Jupiter on December 7, 1995. It orbited the planet for 7 years. A atmospheric probe was released from Galileo in July 1995. Mariner 4 launched on November 28, 1964. Mariner 4 was the first successful flyby of the planet Mars. Its goal was to flyby and get pictures. The spacecraft flew by Mars on July 14 and July 15. The total coast of the mission was 83.2 million. It got the first pictures ever of another planet. It was a success getting 21 pictures. Mercury Mariner 10 One of Mariner 10's main goals was to flyby Mercury and Venus. It was launched in November 3, 1973. Its other main goals where to measure Mercury environment, atmosphere, surface, and body characteristics. And do similer things to Venus. The first Mercury flyby was on march 29 passing on the shadow side. It had two other flybys. Mariner 10 discovered Mercury has a tenuous atmosphere. Mariner 10 took over 2,800 photos. It is assumed to still be orbiting the sun. Mercury Picture from the flyby Picture of Mariner 4 Galileo launching Venus Venera 3 was a space probe, a lander. Its goal was to explore the surface of Venus. It was launched of the surface of Venus on November 16, 1965. Venera 3 crash landed on Venus on March 1 1966. It is the first spacecraft to land on the surface of another planet. Its communications failed before it could send back any information about the planet. The mission was a failure. It took samples
of Jupiter's
magnetosphere.
