Where does the buck stop?
WORK
Establish roles and responsibilites
Cross-examine your workflow plans
Test with real content
Confer with stakeholders
Try different approaches
Refresh with each new project
Be realistic.

Work out what you want to do, then
cut out anything you don't NEED to do.

Decide on what you CAN and CANNOT compromise on.
Do not underestimate
Key time for assessing content
Flag unusual or problematic items ASAP
Earmark plenty of temporary storage space
Assume items will be off the shelves longer than anticipated
Establish a routine to "check out" or "check in" items if used by the public
Use unambiguous identification systems - unique IDs
LIST EVERYTHING
Set up a system to TRACK EVERYTHING and USE IT
LOGISTICS
Keep your digitals
Ensure plenty of system storage for working copies of digital content, not just for the repository
Managing digital content is surprisingly time-consuming - plan for this
Digital content is FRAGILE
Don't lose it
Don't mis-identify it
Don't make inadvertent changes to it
Get training if you are not confident
Ensure file-naming is HUMAN READABLE and relates to the physical item in some way
