Transcript of Parasites

Parasites
by Edwin and Ilyass
A type of bacteria that
could potentially kill you is
Naegleria Fowler, also known as the
brain-eating ameoba. It can invade the brain
and nervous system. It can enter your body if
you swim in lakes, rivers, ponds, and poorly
chlorinated swimming pools.
The chances of
having this deadly parasite invade you are
extremely unlikely, but if it does happen ,
there is a 99% chance of fatality.
Ophiocordyceps unilateris
is a fungus that can take control
of an ant's brain,
causing the ant to drop from the tree it
lives in, climbs the stem of another plant ,
where it dies. Meanwhile, the fungus eats
the ant's tissues, then it pops out of the
ant's head where it spreads its spores.
This causes the condition known
as "zombie ants".
Trichinosis is a worm
that can
invade your body when you
eat uncooked or undercooked pork infected
with the larvae of the trichina worm, or
trichinosis. Trichinosis is a parasitic disease
carried by three species of trichina worm, which
are T. spiralis, T. nativa, and T. britovi.
Toxoplasmosis is a parasite
caused by the protozoan Toxoplasma
gondii. The parasite will most likely infect
cats or other warm-blooded mammals. Animals
are infected when they eat infected meat or by
consuming the feces of an infected animal.
Almost one third of the world's population is
estimted to carry the toxmoplasmosis disease.
Raw meat such as lamb is a main factor of
human infections.
