slow, monotonous
everything same each day = routine
2 stanzas:
first: his way back home (train, walking...)
stanza 1: composed of 3 parts
-he is in the train
-description of the father
-he gets off the train
second: when the father is at home
poem is about a father isolates and alienated from modern society
the poet uses metaphors, similes, rhythms and lexical field in order to convey a sense of darkness, sadness and loneliness
the father clings to his family but they don’t want to make effort for him
--> makes the reader feel compassion for this alienated father and grandfather

old age
world is too modern for the old father
tries to cling on to his life & his family but nobody wants to make an effort for him
Identify emotion/ mood/ feeling
dark atmosphere contributes to the description of the father that is sad & alone through the following lexical field:
