Why I am here
I am attending Concordia University to get my MA in Curriculum and Instruction. I am looking forward to building professional rapport with my online classmates and teacher through discussion boards and collaborative assignments.
I am married with 4 gorgeous (and colorful) children--1 son, 22, who is in college and 3 kids ages 14, 9, and 5 who live at home. We are Jewish (which is why I think it's funny that this picture is in front of a Christmas tree).
I have been teaching for 13 years as a high-school BCLAD English Teacher, specializing in teaching 9th grade English Language Learners and Seminar English.
This year, I will teach Spanish 1-2 and 3-4 at middle school. I am very excited to teach in my own content area for the first time in 14 years.
My experience with technology in the classroom
I have been teaching with a Promethean board and 35 iPads in my classroom. While I love technology, and use it often for interactive quizzes, presentations, and multimedia (such as podcasts or streaming video in the classroom), it does have an inherent fallibility factor and students can be highly distracted by things like Photobooth!!! I often have to shut off camera fuctionality in the iPads to maintain student focus over taking "selfies"
