Act 2

Duncan is murdered by Macbeth and shows remorse but Lady Macbeth belittles him and completes the plan
Act 3
Act 1
Thane of Cawdor, future King

Acts 1-4
All hail King Duncan!
Malcolm, Donalbain


Lady Macbeth makes a plan for Duncan's death and Macbeth's success
Lesser but greater, not happy but happy, father of future kings
Macbeth hallucinates a bloody dagger and contemplates Duncan's murder.
Macduff discovers the dead king, Malcolm and Donalbain flee
All hail KING Macbeth!!!
Banquo suspects Macbeth, Macbeth has Banquo murdered...his son escapes.
Macbeth has a large feast for the lords and is haunted by Banquo's "ghost"
Macduff searches for Malcolm, so both can overthrow Macbeth
Act 4
"Double, double toil and trouble; fire burn, and cauldron bubble." (4.1.10-11)
Beware of Macduff

2. No man born of woman can harm you

3. Until the trees from Birnam march to you, you're safe

Act 4
Macbeth has Macduff's family murdered
Macduff grieves but is encouraged by Malcolm to avenge his wife and son's death and help overthrow Macbeth
